i think the main reason people think this is boring is because they're looking at it in the context of drumming today. i'm sure this was very impressive when it debuted in the mid 90s. but the fact is drummers now a days can out-shred the pants off this guy. interesting video tho

Yoshiki may not be the best drummer , i agree; but hes certainly stylish,original and passionate when hitting drums, and what makes him so great is to be a piano virtuoso and also one of the best composers that have ever existed.
i can only say that double bass drumming is not difficult to learn, and i am faster than this guy.
this solo is the last one i will hear about this guy. its boring. its simply. its not a good solo, i can do better i think, and if i cant do better i'll give up drumming. listen to someone like MIKE PORTNOY's songs, or TONY ROYSTER's solos and tell me...

Every time I've seen him on TV he has this 'world on my shoulders' routine or has to be carried off with an oxygen mask etc. And I just don't think that's what drumming's about. It is during a concert, with tens of thousands of people. This is all for entertainment, nothing more. Some people leaving comments really need to grow up, it seems almost every video on youtube has people seeking attention. As for this drummer, his arrangement is superb and he is really fast. Most drum solo's are technical and boring, this mans solo was great. Raised platform, lots of lighting, strobes, eerie classical music, smoke machines and double pedal to the extreme! loved it.

My conclusion is he s hurtin pretty bad.I couldn t play with a neck brace on. I m sure when I see oter clips (without the neck brace ) his solo will be better than this one.

You shouldn't drag race into this. As a drummer I don't think he's very appealing to watch or listen to. His technique is not up to par. And the 4/4 got very redundant very quick. Still there's no reason to bring race into this.

Yoshiki was in Xjapan before then disbanded when the guitarist hung himself. he now writes symphonies and stuff. and if this guy sucks then why were they able to fill the tokyo dome everytime then played there? that place in bigger than most stadiums everywhere.

Every time I've seen him on TV he has this 'world on my shoulders' routine or has to be carried off with an oxygen mask etc. And I just don't think that's what drumming's about. And I simply don't agree that he's the 3rd best drummer in the world and nor it seems does everyone else judging by many comments.

As to your other point, I don't rate drummers on record sales - otherwise Ringo is the world's greatest drummer! - only on how their musicianship moves me. (And Ringo does btw.) It is during a concert, with tens of thousands of people. This is all for entertainment, nothing more. Some people leaving comments really need to grow up, it seems almost every video on youtube has people seeking attention. As for this drummer, his arrangement is superb and he is really fast. Most drum solo's are technical and boring, this mans solo was great. Raised platform, lots of lighting, strobes, eerie classical music, smoke machines and double pedal to the extreme! loved it.

Asian or not. I wasn t impressed with his solo. I had to watch the video at least 3 times to see if his physical pain was part of the show or not. My conclusion is he s hurtin pretty bad.I couldn t play with a neck brace on. I m sure when I see oter clips (without the neck brace ) his solo will be better than this one.

Before you talk like that about him check out his life, his career, his compositions, he worked with George Michael and the London Philharmonic Orchestra around 1994. George didn't want to work with him, but after he saw Yoshiki playing piano he changed his mind.
HE IS AN ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR, and he can play much fucking better than all of you.

He performed a 3 tier solo....
If you know anything about drumming, you would know he is not "just hitting several drums"
Also at the start of tier 3, he is performing with heavy water on his kit.
Ian paice did that often, but honestly, it never sounded clear, this guy is doing it, and it sounds very clear!
Go learn something about drumming, before saying stupid things.

seems like his neck is ALWAYS injured, personally i think this guy is overrated, he can keep a double bass beat, but frankly he's too damn dramatic with his stupid little theatrics and isnt good enough for the show thats put on for his solos, his stuff is all single stroke, he has stamina, but nothing that sets him apart from ANY other metal drummer

Yoshiki was in Xjapan before then disbanded when the guitarist hung himself. he now writes symphonies and stuff. and if this guy sucks then why were they able to fill the tokyo dome everytime then played there? that place in bigger than most stadiums everywhere.

i thtink the neckbrace was their to make sure he didnt hurt himself anymore, he was wearing it at the last live, nd i thinkthis is Dahlia tour? yoshiki is amazing, altho the Last Live performance was better b/c of sound quality improvements along with better camera's.
