  • 4 people love shitty service

  • omg i had the same problum with dish network when i tryed to cancel after they lied to me and tood me i was getting internet with my cable when i wasent they gave me a HUGE RUN AROUND for 2 hours and wanted me to pay 500 to cancel it ...but i missed up and got mad really mad and said fuck and bullshit and they hung up on me so i jjust dident pay the bill let it go to colection

  • WTF!!!!! I WANNA CANCEL MY ACCOUNT .

  • This doesn't shock me at all. I actually went through the same thing. I had to hang up and call back about 3 times because the reps kept giving me the run around. Finally, I just blew up on this one lady, she apologized forever and finally canceled the account.

  • I don't actually think you went about it the right way at all - I could definitely have got better results! All you need to say is "I understand that you are trying to help me but there isn't a problem that you can remedy, I just really do want to cancel my account" instead of taking a tone with them. Of course they're going to be confused if you lie and say "I don't use the account" - you're just making it harder for yourself.

  • The customer is always right dammit.

Why would it be in the customer's interest to listen to them? Has anyone ever felt remorse for leaving AOL? I bet that operator's commission was on the line which can explain his behavior.

  • lol i remember my days when i did the aol scam. disconnect every 30 days

    later i got butt raped

  • bloody hell

    this man is intellegent

    coz he recorded the call

  • Yeah but he's unintelligent for getting upset at an operator who was obviously trying to mess with him.

  • haha that was hilarious!

  • The guy handled the whole thing pretty well.

  • aol practically ignored the cancellation for us. we just changed to virgin and just didnt pay aol.

  • It doesn't matter if you stop paying the bill, they keep debiting your bank or credit card even after you cancel with them. It happened to me for 3 months after I canceled with them so I finally had to go and cancel my bank card and get a new account. They are notorious for this. Then they called me when they couldnt get my money and I told them well I canceled with you guys 3 months ago heres my conf# and they tried giving me a story bout how that wasnt a real cancellation. Scammers!!!!!!!!

  • it sucked the time aol came out u couldnt use the phone when someone was on and plus u got cut off every time the number couldnt be reached now times are better

  • oh believe me,this is NOTHING compared to VONAGE.I was actually TALKING to someone in INDIA for over 30 min. I had to listen to the person all that time to finally have it cancelled. I've said cancel the account so many times that my husband actually took the other phone to hear what was happening. If these people think this is how they hang on to a customer, they are wrong. I will NEVER do business with a company that does this. It's not the rep's fault, honestly. It's AOL, VONAGE, etc! SAD!!!!

  • The easiest way to cancel AOL is to send them a certified letter. You don't have to deal with a retention specialist who gets comission if they keep you.

  • Great Video...I am having the same problem with myspace...they won't delete my account..I found out I still have one that was suppose to be cancelled last yr..HELP

  • I HATE AOL. The same thing happens if you cancel your Vonage account. I was on the phone for 18 minutes.

  • When you call ANY service and if the options don't suit you, just hang up, and call back. When it picks up again. Keep hitting the 0 button on your phone.

  • Oh dear, dude!! He was so mean to Vincent!! I mean even evil....

Thats so great he got fired... Real cool, man!!

    Hope he ROTS IN HELL!!!

    ps. pussies...

  • if you want it cancelled stop paying the bill

  • If you stop paying the bill, it will show up on your CREDIT REPORT. That's why this guy wanted to close his account. He didn't wanna get charged for something he didn't want.

  • AOL sucks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much the three most evil words in existance..."Welcome To AOL"...so incredibly crap.

  • if you think canceling the account is frustrating, you should try actually using the account

  • I can't believe this is news.

  • man they are evil...AOL

  • Fuck him. AOL is great. Get a job you fat fuck. Long Live AOL!

    AOL is great

    AOl is great

    AOl is your friend

People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annhilated: vaporized was the usual word."

  • How the fuck is AOL great? What does it do except for slowing the SHIT out of your computer? Computers with 512MB RAM are complete shit with AOL - 512MB is supposed to be average.

  • Does anyone have any quotes on how much RAM AOL actually uses while running?

I've only used AOL briefly, because it was my grandmother's computer I had to use for a few days. I was sick of the interface after an hour.

I still don't really understand the point. The most retarded thing is making a windowed desktop for you to keep all your AOL applications inside. It's inconvenient and pointless. I had to keep scrolling sideways and moving windows just to navigate pages. What's with that?

  • Screw AOL. Rips you off worse than the cable company.

  • it took my dad 30 minutes to cancel his account.

  • That customer service guy was way out of life. Vincent is right. There's a point in which you give up and allow the customer to cancel his account. He took the wrong approach and talking to him like a child was completely unnecessary.

Although, who's to say that Vincent was on his best behavior because he was taping the recorded call?

Even still, on your best behavior... you shouldn't be treated like that.

  • wow

  • Same thing happened to me! They just DONT LET UP!! I kept calm also and finally got them to cancel. The person on the other end tried everything o keep me. Offered me x amount of months for free. It was really quite pathetic! Just be patient and cool headed people. You will win in the end!

  • do they lose money from cancelling people's accounts?

  • Duh, dumbass, it's one less customer.

  • LMAO

  • AOL isn't the only company that has "retention" departments to try and keep customers from leaving. Phone companies have them, as do the big credit card companies. Is all about the money. Its cheaper for them to keep an existing customer than go out and find new ones. End of story.

  • Haha! Just heard a sample of this on the iLifeZone Podcast; had to check it out. BAM!

  • AOL/TIME/WARNER. They're GIANTS!! Everyone with one of their accounts should cancel it, immediately. And if they keep getting billed, don't pay. Tell your credit card company you canceled. That's what happened to me and my credit card company told me that happens ALL THE TIME with Aol. They told me they are crooks, always trying to cheat people and the credit card companies have to waste their time cleaning it up. aol sucks ass.

  • Screw you AOL, and big faceless businesses in general.

  • Moron.

  • lol we canceled our AOL account...then we got charged for another month, turned out it never got canceled at all...the guy lied hehe, they ust work on some serious commision to be that dedicated FUCK YOU AOL!
