@AVPfrk217 I have to say NO NO to your input. Like "BENNO117" i did read the novels and yes most of the spartans died during trainning and they were hand picked when they were children. A hand full of them survived the trainning so the reason why these guys were called Spartans is because it goes back to the Romans and the Spartan days. Back then Spartans were picked as children and trained to be "Spartan". The training was so intense that not all of them make it.

@lonewiso Spartan is greek not Roman, and they weren't picked (in real life) every boy went through the training as far as I know. And I think most of them survived lol, they wouldn't kill off MOST of their population in some greuling training, training is to strengthen not kill :P Perhaps rumors started because in Sparta, in those days, if a child had a defect they savagely left him to die. But they didnt train people til they died..
