  • adorable little guy

  • @Raqwaza17 thanks =)

  • @Raqwaza17 thanks =)

  • I really hate it when people accuse owners of hurting their parrots when they know nothing about parrots jeez..Parrots really have to trust you before they hang upside down like that and anyways if that parrot was being hurt it would bite the fuck out of his owner....

  • nice vid.

  • Awwww, bless. :')

  • what a great bird - i have a grey and a macaw

  • yeap parrots llike to play ;) ^^

  • I dont have an african grey at this time but will very soon but I grew up with Cockatoo and I currently have a green senegal parrot and trust me if this bird wanted to bite it would bite they are faster then you think and you would be able to read the body language of the bird and the birds bite is hard to say the least. This bird is playing and having a really good time so for those of you that want to talk smack either own one or do some research on it first... Nice video!! lovely bird.

  • Gawjus bird.

  • The BG music makes me want to kill my dog!

  • @GizaDog please dont =>

  • i have this parrot he does the same thing

  • The bird was not being forced to do anything against his/her will. I have a gray that likes to swing just like that. He'll even say "wee!" as he does it .

When he wants to come back up, he'll reach up and gently nibble on my thumb (or shirt sleeve) to let me know he wants me to swing him back up. When birds are really annoyed, they can take a huge chunk out of your skin in an instant. This bird wasn't unhappy -- you can tell by the way he has his tummy outstretched while he's upside down.

  • Wow!! Thats amazing that you can interact with your bird this way. I am currently looking for an african Grey and have been researching them for ages now. I cant wait to be ble to 'play' with my bird like this.

  • LOOK HOW THIS BIRD TRYS TO BITE BUT THE HANDLER MOVES QUICK. SO IT LOOKS LIKE THE BIRD IS PLAYING.

  • @OzarkExotics pahlease ..

  • @OzarkExotics

That "handler" was NOT quick! The bird had plenty of time to turn that finger into a BLOODY STUMP if the bird had so chosen! It looks to me like the bird was having a grand time! :)

  • @OzarkExotics Not at all, that bird is really playing. I own three african greys parrot, and what I see in that video is a bird happy to play. He does not try to bite, he just wants to use his beak to get a grip. Don't worry, if he really wanted to bite he would not miss his shot! They are fast!!!

  • @OzarkExotics you need to get youre facts strait befor you make ridiculas comments like that. he was having fun, the owner is playing with him. and yes, i probaly spelled ridiculas wrong.

  • @OzarkExotics its called trust he can easily bite if he wanted to

  • Awww, so adorable.

  • He wasn't swinging to the left, to the left.

  • My african grey also loves going upside down like that, they love it.

  • I saw this awhile ago in a pet store, and the owner was swinging a MACAW around and it was LOVING it. So I decided to try and get my grey to do it. It took a good month before she put her trust in me but it worked! Now she always does it when I pick her up. I think it's wonderful to be able to interact with these beautiful birds like this. Although it takes A LOT of patience it's definitely worth it in the end.

  • Good on you for letting the bird be out of a cage. There are some very sad videos of birds who obviously never have the freedom and rich interaction that you are giving to your bird. Good luck to you.

  • this is my greys song too "2 the left 2 the left"

  • He's gorgeous, thanks for sharing him with us!

  • wow my parrot wud bite if i do that. LOL

  • @MK1560 Oh that's great lol I'd love to see it =)

  • is it a she or a he? i think it's a she

  • @MahaAlqutami96 actually it's a he, we had him DNA sexed a few years ago.

  • WTF! was that with forcing her/him upside down. The bird should lead you not the other way around. Please i beg anyone getting a Gray to research first. They can be very noisy and unpredictable birds sometimes. Although my gray likes to hang upside down she also likes to do that herself, not be swung around like a play thing. And of course now that you have comments waiting approval i can understand why. learn to treat your bird well.

  • @xxteyxx What anger management group did you fail at? This bird is NOT being forced to do anything. My replies needing approval is to block spam, idiots like you I welcome, rage on ! but get a grip.

  • @lessahblues Agreed the bird is being entertained by this activity.

  • @xxteyxx having a grey does not make you an expert and just like any parenting style, there are vast differences from one parent to another. It is very obvious that this bird is quite comfortable with the play they're engaged in and he immediately looked to momma when he was perched, I'm assuming because he wanted to keep it up. While you're dispensing advice, I have some for you as well...stuff it.

  • @xxteyxx the bird obviously enjoys it....and i kno several birds that like to hang upside down...dont judge other owners

  • @xxteyxx lol omg he obviously enjoys it.....get a grip most birds like to hang upside down

  • @xxteyxx uhhh, I see no forcing going on here. You need to relax. Save your anger for the people who neglect and beat their animals, not the ones that shower them with love and attention. geeeeeeez.

  • @xxteyxx

Jesus. RELAX, you'll live longer. I agree with you about researching before getting ANY parrot, but as for this guy, I see nothing wrong with his treatment of his bird. The bird is having a blast. With your comment, I'm concerned that your bird isn't getting enough human interaction. That is neglectful if the case.

My grey LOVES to swing upside too. It is one of her favourite games. Whether she does it on her own or if I "encourage" it, she loves it.

  • I hate when they try to grip you with their beak (not biting) so they don't fall, it hurts so bad. Also when their claws dig in.

  • We have one since 2000,really messy!

  • no doubt its a full time job cleaning cages & perches

  • my grey loves to swing too lol very cute grey ^^

  • The more I watch videos of African Greys, the more I am convinced this should be my next bird. They seem to be such "physical" birds, in that they love to be fondled and cuddled. To say nothing of their legendary intelligence! Lovely and muscular bird there.

  • I think he should go into 'Dancing With The Stars'....LOL...

  • I paid $1600 for my Congo Grey. I've had her since she was 4 months old, and she was my first parrot. I adore her to shreds. I now have 8 parrots (1 Congo Grey, 1 Timneh Grey, 1 Blue and Gold Macaw, 2 Green Cheek Conures, 1 Sun Conure, 1 Blue Crowned Conure, 1 Blue Quaker Parrot) and she coexists beautifully with everyone. She's the crown jewel of my life <3

  • I saw a guy do this with his hyacinth macaw, that was impressive considering the size of the bird. makes my grey look tiny...

  • how old

  • We have an African Grey. We love her! Had her since 97! I think it's time to spoil her with more toys...

  • i paid 725 for mine!! tom and gail smiley in portland oregon

  • gator fan:) i love your bird!

  • the you must love his go gators video !

  • Thank you so much =)

  • My Grey does this and I get the same "amorous" result if I let it go on too long. Aren't they fun. Sure are A LOT of work, but worth it if you can be patient. You have a lovely, healthy looking bird who seems happy and well adjsuted. Well done!

  • In australia breeders sell them for 5000 AUD!! thats about 4000 in US. Can u say rip off much? GAH!!!!!

  • lessahblues, I might have commented on this vid before, but it's one of my favorites. Such a happy, healthy bird, you're doing a great job with him! I love to see greys who are in that kind of living situation. So many people don't give them proper care and attention and that saddens me.

  • i saw one of these birds at in and out today =]

  • Can somebody tell me aprox. how much costs a Congo African Grey?like your's :) Thanks

  • they can be free- from a parrot rescue or you can pay pet store prices $1500 or more, which I detest, because you don't know where they came from or were cared for properly as babies. In my case, I went to a reputable breeder who did all the right things for him while he was growing up , so that now he is a confident adult. I paid less than $1000. That doesn't include the cost for his care now in toys etc..

  • Oh to be clear I detest Pet Stores that sell live pets in general. Not Rescues, rescues are a great place to get a beautiful parrots. I have a 25 year old African Grey Timneh we re-homed. She was 20 when she came to live with us from a rescue. Now shes as much a part of the family as if shes lived here her whole life.

  • @lessahblues

I totally agree with you & would never buy from a pet store. It encourages the mills to keep mass producing poor birds & other pets.

We have one young Grey we bought from a breeder. The rest of our parrots are ones that needed homes, some abused, others just needy.

  • @sue345sue not all pet stores are bad, i work at one myself and we take pride in the fact that we know where our pets come from. its the public you have to watch out for, just because you can afford an expensive pet doesnt mean youre fit to have one. and yes i agree there are some pet stores out there that should be shut down for there lack of care. they provide, but there are ones out there that are for the better. at least through SOME pet stores they have a certain standard of health.

  • Depends if you live in los angeles or Orange county there is a great place called Maclin Outddor swapmeet. it i full of parrots. ibought my African grey parrot for $800 He was 3 months old this was 2 weeks ago. but they sell a lot of exotic pets there. but the can be $1200 or as low as $950 i got a grea deal

  • My bird has the hots for me too. He tries to feed me by regurgitating his food for me. Its nasty but it means he loves me :) I have a video on my channel.

  • This video is not something that happens over night. This is how my bird flirts with me, if I let it go on more than a minute or so he will become romantically aggressive and will bite the heck out of me as you see its why I put him back on the chair right away.

  • Sweet Congo dude. Can you hold him upside down in your palm, while he rests on his back . God bless you and your new companion

  • yep sure can, that took a while . My video is broken , whe I get a new one I will post some new videos to see.

  • wow so pretty bird how old is he or she at this video.

  • Thanks! He was 3 when he did this video, he is 5 now.

  • and yep he is a he we had him DNA sexed.

  • lol never seen a parrot playing like that before:P

  • they've been getting cheaper cuz their are more being bred

  • they went from being like 1400$ usa to now about 750$ usa

  • No they range, they are like for congo 899-1300

    timnehs 650-1000

  • whats the difference between congo and timnehs?

  • The timneh is a bit smaller, has burgundy tail feathers color, they have multicolored beaks. My timneh Sam doesn't speak as well as my congo, but I didn't have her until she was 20. I've heard they speak as well as a congo but opinions vary.

  • oh cheers for that im gonna have to find a few opinions off some people dont wanna waste cash on one that doesnt speak.

  • Was surprised to read this! Not havin a go at u but there no gtee that ANY parrot will talk. Some r singers, some talk, others dont.U want advice=find a reputable dealer for HAND-REARED.U knw young+soppy-tame.THEN u may b abl to teach stuff like this one learnt! They are ALL great characters but they need LOTS of time+they r very messy.Read lots b4 u go ahead.U never learn fully but it pays to learn SOME b4 u start. And they will bite+draw blood.U hav 2knw how2act with that too.GoodLuck.((*_*)) xx

  • 'dont wanna waste cash on one that doesnt speak'.....how is buying a nice parrot that doesn't speak as well as another wasting cash? If that's your attitude then you don't deserve the pleasure of a bird's company

  • wel what im trying to say why would i pay so much cash for a parrot that just whistles when i can go ahead and buy a cheap whistling bird?

  • these birds are not born speaking, You have to be the best parent and with tons of patience and teach them what you want them to know. If you are only buying it to talk then don't waste your $ they are so much more than that.

  • and yeah i know that you have to give it alot of attention for it to learn to speak i didnt just mean i go out and buy one that already speaks..and its not just for the speaking i want it i think theyre fun pets

  • I can tell by what you are saying you haven't done a lot of research like I suggested. These birds are like 2 year olds, they require that much attention. If they are not given that attention they will do self destructive things, like pluck out their feathers and biting to name just a few.. They are not birds who stay locked in cages and just start speaking ... they need taught and constant care and attention... They can be very dangerous too if not taught and raised properly.

  • bringinbackgoodtimes is also correct, my girlfriends dad has bred and hand reared greys for 25years and would be your best bet

  • We are planning to get an African Grey Congo baby soon, so I'm exited about that. Your Grey looks so happy, and comfortable with you.

  • Where you getting one from, and how does it coast MRJ?

  • Congo African Greys usually run from 900-1200 US dollars, Timnehs are a bit cheaper (I think maybe 800-900, I haven't seen one go for more than about 900...)

  • What a great Grey you have there!

  • I wish my Grey would allow me to do that with him. My Senegal loves loves to swing from my hands though. Just goes to show how different their personalities can be!

  • Very healthy looking grey to say the least. Our Grey doesnt trust us like that for some od reason, but your bird is delightful! Bravo!

  • Bravo! your baby trusts you so much! I've got a congo and a timneh african grey and they're great. Yours looks happy, healthy, loved, and well cared for! Keep up the excellent work!

  • my moms african grey is 22 years old and had him since he was 1 and bottle feeding

  • This is a great video ! my timneh likes to swing too but only on his cage but he is still quite young one day I hope ot have this much trust on my hand I know he will get there 5 stars !

  • i can do that with my grey also, and then i can get out the bandaids

  • DAMN! I sooo wanna have one

  • how old was it on here?

  • almost 3 years old in this video =)

  • I've been watching videos of african greys all evening...sooo nice..makes me want one but I love my cockatiel to bits!

  • that is to sweet!!

  • Hi,I have an african grey that is talking now, but I was just wondering what you reward him with,,,,Mine won't take treats like yours does....she would rather have them in her treat bowl....awesome bird,,,

  • nice mine can do all that lol

  • mine does that when we went to the vet to get him clipped she flew around and called the guy doing it a goof

  • He is beautiful!

  • thanks !

  • but can he talk?

  • he sure can! look at my other videos =)

  • Sweet !

  • haha my macaw is like that

my african grey HATES that kinda stuff lol she is a chicken but she is sooo sweet.

  • :) Your grey would probably love the washcloth game that Georgie plays with me. Check out her aerobics video. :) Georgie loves to swing upside down too and when you place any cloth at her feet she grabs it, flips backwards and flings is across the room. :) We use a washcloth because it is thick enough to protect my hand when she gets crazy. :)

  • my poppy dose this, but poppys see's it as a fighting game haha its dead good (but can hurt sometimes) fethers are in perfect condtion, poppys are not however, she was put in her cage on the other side of the room as a baby, as soon as we moved her cage further into the room she started cheering up(feeling part of the family), so we are learning by our mistakes, i hope poppys fethers get as good as yours. well done ftm

  • lol....i do the samething to my gray....i do a lot of things to him n he is soooo kool w/it. he trusts me a lot n lets me do all i want w/him.....it's so cute! people think that parrots r mean and evil but everyone that meets my bird loves him cuz he's so kool....then they wanna go and get one! =)

  • lets u do ne fing.really?

  • What a bautiful tail it has. judging by the feathers u have taken really good care of it!

  • haha cool.doews he talk a lot.

my bird can say a few words but not much

  • yes, he talks a lot! look at my other videos, theres a couple of him talking.

  • wow thats awesome, i used to have an afican grey parrot that would let me hold it upside down like that till it unfortunately flew away.

  • Mine's friendly and all, but he is way too clumsy to hang upside down.

  • My grey comes to me as he pleases and offers his foot when he wants to get on my arm. I don't force him, I ask him if he wants to come to see me. He is slowly becoming more trusting. He was toweled a lot by his previous owners, but I have never used a towel on him. I am very careful as he was abused by his first owners.

  • Love it! My grey is not so trusting, but I am working on it. He was mistreated by his first owners and it is taking a while to win his trust. He is much better than when we first got him. I will be glad when he can be more like yours, though we love him anyway!!!

  • greys spend most of their time upside down lol

  • What a good bird, he adores you. Whoever is holding the camera also has his trust. Great video :)

  • Thank you !

  • ah, beautiful example of an african grey. i had a very tame talking budgerigar a few years back and plan on getting an african grey after my uni.

you've done a great job with this one :)

    how old is she/he?

  • He is 3 years and 1 month =)

  • well actually I guess he was 6 months younger in that video.

  • Quite an acrobat!

  • haha he really is especially if there is music playing.

  • he/she luvs u and trusts u very much hes/shes lovly!

  • thank you so much for the compliment

  • how'd you do that?

  • He hangs upside down like that on his own. It's a natural inclination for them. He hangs from his ropes and swings the same way. Also, it took time for him to build trustin me I think.

  • how u train him to do that ??

  • fantastic bird . im just about to teach my new baby grey what your doing. can you get yours to lie down on his back. and stay for a min.

  • Yes ! He is 3 years old and it's just recently he has allowed me to lay him down that. He sure to loves to hang upside down. That's how we started, I would put my hand under his back while hanging and occasionally he will let go and lay there for a few moments. For the record he throws himself forward, I don't in any way force him upside down. If he wants to I let him =)

  • he/she trusts you

  • looks like a fun bird to have. I plan to buy one one day.

  • Just do your research before you do; they are a lot of trouble and time and things (and people) WILL get chewed up. Very strong personalities, too, so if a person is not entirely sure I suggest waiting and learning from someone who lives with one.

The bird in this video is adorable. Mine will do that sometimes but then he gets really "playful" and I end up with beak marks. ;>

  • That was great! I have never seen an african grey do that!!!

  • Aww, what a darling!

  • Yup it's very cute isn't it :) Mine likes to do that too, I was reording some videos when she did that a few times. It's neat to watch them hang like that

  • lol funny :)) ...
