While I regard both Russia and Georgia as being at fault, I'll admit as a westerner that the media DID seem to be pro-Georgian and made Russia out to be the aggressor even though Georgia attacked first. I've got nothing against either people but the Georgian President was an idiot to have his armed forces attack Russia, it's never a good idea to do that as history has shown.

HRW claimed that it was "few tens", others source were talking about 200 Osetian killed during whole conflict (also during Russian actions). Russians don't let any independent organization to verify their own clam on the ground, are they afraid of of truth? Please not that recently they dont repeat that claim od 2000 deaths.

Perhaps you are right that recent round was started by Georgian, but it does not justify overreactions, vengeance, not respecting their own signed agreements,looting and stationing in the Georgia proper. We should expect and judge stronger side with more strict rules. By the way aggressor is not so obvious for years Russian government was keeping that conflict open for several years because it was in their own interest. I hope one day Russian will take them accountable about that wrong policy.
