I bought this game together with three other Elite-games in a game-pack during the early 90s. I don't see it as a classic, it's not very playable and I never got far. But somehow I liked it. It was something about the atmosphere. Just look at the red sky and the post-apocalyptic environment.
what's the name of the game of the dude who runs really fast ahhh, I remember this game but I want to find the dude who runs fast on a multicoloured road and probably has a gun..
I actually managed to complete this a few times, if you get past the first few levels and your cash builds up you can buy enough stuff to protect you from most dangers. Loved this game.
What's the difference between choosing Secret Documents and Counterfeit Money, apart from the amount of money you get? Never got very far in this game so maybe I missed something later on!
@danielrichardbond There's always two jobs on offer and in theory one of them should be higher paying and the other should be easier. In practice I never noticed a difference in the levels so I always just picked the higher pay.
Such a hard game! If you went slow the machine gunners wasted you, if you went flat out you'd inevitably smash into something and die. The barriers in the middle of the road left you little time to brake or avoid them. I'd usually just spend all my money on firebombs, don't think I really got past level 2 very often.
Was the car red on the Amiga version? I recall if you got the cat-converter, it was easy to finish as you did not have to think about running out of fuel as much.
Jesus, thanks for this video! I always had a hell of a hard time getting through the first run. And by reading other people's comments, I see I was not the only one!
I think Roadblasters were better. This has great music and looks even interesting, but... It´s damn hard. I´ve never passed the first run - see the comments below. Seems, not only me :-)
Strange... I was quite good in the games of that type, but each time I tried myself with Overlander I was unable to finish the first run! Finally, I was bored enough to forget about his game.
I forgot all about this game! Thanks for the video game nostalgia! I always hated it if those little machine gunners caught you as you drove past, it really wrecked your momentum. Haha.
Thanks for posting...great memories. This was one of my fave games that came with the ST. Good sense of speed in it and loved the starfield and music in the intro screen!

@davehirst Buying the battering rams lets you survive collisions (1 per ram up to a maximum of 9). Essential.
I got around level six or seven in this.
