4:36 to 4:49 sounds like an awesome battle march tune. the original Wrighters could have extended it to make an amazing track on in its own right :) such a brilliant tune :)
I remember the heavy feeling I felt after finishing the game for the first time.. and this was playing through the end credits. I've decided this will be playing at my funeral.. but not anytime soon though.
I tried to talk my band director into getting the score for this but she couldnt find a version for wind band, only for orchestra with choir...very lame because this is an amazing son

I just replayed through this game after 4 years [I glanced at the giant double sided poster of this game I had in my room and got the motivation] and let me say at the end and when this song started it made a 17 year old teenager choke up, this game is seriously a beautiful and one of a kind piece of art, nothing will ever come close to this.. the soundtrack was haunting beautiful, as I said nothing will come close to it.
@deathcrypt454545 Oh wow, I am SO jealous! By any chance... what are the lyrics to the song? Or are there none? Because some times it sounds like they're speaking words...
SOTC, its a frightenly beautiful game, it is the first time i see game don't need a narration don't need dialog to tell a very deep and emotional story.
This song plays as Mono wakes up in the temple and Agro makes his appearance. It continues through the credits showing the fallen colossi, and ends shortly after the men cross the bridge after it collapses.
SOTC is the first game to bring me to tears. Much more tears than any movie and book as ever done to me infact. Actually, each time i complete the game, it brings me to tears each time! The ending is the best game ending ever made. Its so much more touching than anything else, simply because you can relate to wander because you control him.
i literally had goosebumps throughout this whole video....almost brought tears to my eyes....the whole game and soundtrack are both beautiful and wonderful masterpiecies in my opinion
I don't think this one is in the game. Prologue - to the Ancient Land is practically the same as this one and is played in the opening cutscene, but I can't remember hearing this one except on the OST.
'm glad i bought even after hearing mixed reviews. The soul ( sole? ) reason I bought the game though, was because I found out Koh Ohtani had done the sound track, one of my top 5 favorite's composers of all time, yes ALL time. His music moves the soul. Ohtani, with such depth of passion, embrace and excitement, is truly a wonder to behold.
I have shivers down my spine everytime the choir sings :D Japanese composers have so many memorable music in games. Only Matt Uelmen (Diablo, WoW) is memorable in western games music IMO but maybe thats just me
I most certainly didn't. It was just not very prevalent. Intentionally. Ueda thinks part of the superb game design is to leave the narrative to ambiguity. he is totally right.
Yes but that's what makes an awesome story, you have enough info to understand what it's all about, but at the same time letting you complete some of the missing parts.. Without that, not even the best music would make such a memorable game. (And to me is one of the 2 game soundtracks I love the most).
@thedarkflowkiller you know what else is awful? The fact that you spelled awful wrong lol

The orchestra did amazing, and I'm so impressed by the chorus. Usually the chorus is what messes up a lot of live vgm for me, but this was spot on.
MsDJKate 6 months ago
I was wondering, is the choir in this score singing a real language or an invented one, like the one spoken in the game?
howl4fun21 7 months ago
@howl4fun21 That my friend, is an excellent question... I believe it's the latter... OR could be latin, it's always a good guess.
monstermax 7 months ago
@howl4fun21
i dont know about the choir,,
but the spoken languaje on the game , is an invented one...probably is the same

I reckon if one of those instrumental players played the whole of this game, they would feel it more and probably cry while playing, in my opinion.

I think you can hear some sniffling in the background. Proving the power of the music. Not a dry eye in the house.

The music is the 70% of the SoC magic.
The rest are locations, gameplay and of course "The BIG sixteen":)

yer, I disagree.
I think it's
33% Music
33% Atmosphere (inlcuding lighting and keyframe animation
33% Gameplay.
Comepletely equal, becuase otehrwise it would be an unlabalnced game.
