Here in Detroit, the former police chief implimented " parental responsibility laws", which hold parents responsible for there kids actions, there are fines and jail punishment involved for the parents and sometimes the kids. Its not doing much but it's a good start.

We were all born with the natural instinct to know right from wrong, but we make our own choices. Accountability is key, if someone is unaware of their kids where abouts 24/7; that's a problem. Chicago has 11,000 police officers, not including the illinois state police and the cook county sheriff. @Warsie True, I feel like we need a law which makes it illegal to be in a gang. They need more discipline programs for these kids as well, like boot camp. Most of these kids are lost out here, never been shown any guidance to do anything positive, therefore they fall victim to gangs. Curfew laws needs to be reinforced ; start punishing parents for that. And why aren't parents held accountable anymore when kids stop going to school. Crack down on parents; I guess thats too much like right though.

Here in Detroit, the former police chief implimented " parental responsibility laws", which hold parents responsible for there kids actions, there are fines and jail punishment involved for the parents and sometimes the kids. Its not doing much but it's a good start.

@11xr1east exactly; people want to make excuses for why the crime is so bad here, They want to blame politicians, teachers, and etc; but it starts at home and with the individual. We were all born with the natural instinct to know right from wrong, but we make our own choices. Accountability is key, if someone is unaware of their kids where abouts 24/7; that's a problem. They need to pass and implement parental laws and stick with them. It may not fix everything but it is certainly a good start.

Chicago has 11,000 police officers, not including the illinois state police and the cook county sheriff. Doesn't Chicago have some of the "strongest" anti-gun laws? I see they are working well. I guarantee if they made it legal to carry hand guns in any public area, and private (with permission), and people actually exercised those rights, this would almost completely go away. With all those laws, only criminals have guns now, and it shows.
