  • I used to watch this when it was on only when there was nothing else on, I thought it was corny back then but always thought Pinchot was a cool guy in real life, but as for a great show not too sure about that. I was more into Miami Vice, Family Ties, Quantum Leap stuff like that.

  • Perfect strangers worked because of an excellent comic pairing. The two stars developed a kind of comic language, where they fed of of each others' lines and antics. what was especially cool is the way these two could alternate the role of straight man. On the surface, it should be Larry (Baker) as straight man and (Pinchot) delivering the punchlines, but it's very often the other way around.

A good comic pairing can do a lot for a show, and it never pays to break one up.

  • Even though I was only like 3 to 6 years old when Perfect Strangers was on TGIF it was my favorite show to watch. Not even Full House or Family Matters tops my list like Perfect Strangers. They really should bring it back to TV even if its on Late Night on TV Land or Family 43.

  • The main reason they haven't released the rest of the show on dvd is mainly due to high copyright costs for the songs that Bronson and Mark Linn sang over the 7 seasons. There is talk that season 3 might be released by the end of 2012.

  • I think the reason TV sucks now, besides lack of original writing, is because we as a society insisted on digging behind the flashy, bright, cheerful surface and dredging up the pain and dirt in people's lives. Life could still be ugly back then, but shows like this were great escapism and masked all the bad things about life. It made it easier to live with, frankly. But we had a taste of dirt and scandal, and the media knew we'd buy it then, so that's what they gave us.

  • When will the Miller / Boyett shows be on DVD? I would like to see all the seasons of Perfect Strangers along with The Hogan Family....

  • This show was not at all cheesy. It was real TV. Now the stuff they showing on TV today like The Jersey Shore, The Big Bang Theory, etc. THOSE ARE CHEESY. No meaning behind them whatsoever.

  • When will they release all 6 seasons from Perfect Stangers on DVD? Watching clips of the show on youtube has made me nostalgic for this show. If we got a start a petition, I'll gladly give my signature. I always a crush on the actress who played Jennifer.

  • I always hated this show. Thought is was so cheesy.

  • God, it irritates me how people always leave out Pinchot and Baker when they talk about great comedy duos. Comedy is alot like a dance in that when you have the wrong partner, nothing goes right. I don't think you could possibly get a better partner for either one of them.

  • Bronson Pinchot-- "True Romance" -- SEE IT!

  • I always loved that show.. I loved them.

  • this brings up so lovely memories.. this show is a part of my childhood.. I remember my brother and I calling eachother 'Balki' and 'Larry'.. doing the happy dance when Mum says 'chocolate cake is ready' and so on...

thanks for such a great show!!

  • I'm SO happy to find out that the cast really liked each other (unlike other sitcoms that had ugly feuds going on backstage.) I hear most of them are still alive and working, too. Thanks, guys. :)

  • Six seasons?! Just like SUPERNATURAL!

  • I wonder if they could still do the dance of joy at their advanced age

  • Ah, Bronson and Mark. Such great actors, with one of the greatest real-life friendships ever. Their final Dance of Joy is one of the most touching things I've ever seen. And Bronson breaking into tears gets me every time, it's just one of those things that tugs at the heartstrings, y'know? I'll never be able to comprehend how Mark kept his composure...

  • weird that I feel something for this show I wasn't attached to 17 years later

  • I ate my TV dinners watching these guys. Balki's nose always bothered me.

  • My Goodness I forgot the show was on the air for 6 yrs. That was actually quite a rare run for most Sitcoms that did'nt start with Cosby. What great television back then.

  • a sad day

  • WHY IS THERE NOT SHOWS THIS FUNNY, THIS GOOD ON TV NOW? - RHETORICAL QUESTION

  • He is like Borat

  • omg why did that make me teary eyed lol???

  • @SandiByrd aww Balki could barely say "I'm so happy, we do the dance of joy" his voice was breaking up in tears.

  • ...and John Tesh is off to write some of the worst music of all time lol

  • great post, thanks for sharing

  • I think those 2 are working on movies now

  • "Balki the naive goat herder,.." Um excuse me, get it right "Balki the naive sheep herder,.."

  • @ItzGangstaP Amazingly, in almost all of the press kits for the show they said Balki was a goat herder! So throughout the run of the show the newspapers and television entertainment shows constantly echoed that misinformation! : (

  • @boochibabe Lol I don't know how its possible for the show's own press kit to mess up that information. He states several times in episodes that he he herd's sheep and what about Dimitri? Obviously Sheep, not goat. Apparently they people advertising it never watched the show lol

  • 25th anniversary !

  • Bought season 1 dvd for my dad for fathers day i just had to get it for him

  • I never watched the last episode because it wasn't aired in the Philippines. Hopefully someday I will be able to find the complete season's of Perfect Strangers on DVD. this made me cry seeing their last taping and also doing the dance of Joy. I will never forget that dance of Joy

  • me dio mucha penita , ke termine esta gran serie, me encantaban, los dos , en fin , espero la pelicula... i love you

  • My sister and I still do the Dance of Joy to this day!

  • hey fielen hertzlich dank thomasbuffys, ich hab diese comedy serie aus Super RTL immer mit groser freude verfolgt hm schade das davon nix mer zu sehe ist seufts wein :-(((((((((

  • I'm glad we got this final picture of it going off air. It was great and they didn't screw over fans by making the thing end randomly or introducing BS storyplots. They did it right!

  • Oh John Tesh :) I don't see why they ended the show, they could have pulled one more season out unless the actors or writers themselves were no longer interested in it.

  • One of the best TV shows in history. I don't get bored watching Perfect Strangers over and over again. Thanks PS.

  • Thanks boochibabe and YouTube!!

I haven't seen this in ages, not since 1994!!

  • todays show lack the quailty of one like this one

  • Agreed!

  • and iv'e been crying ever since..

  • I wasent alive when it was on, but my parents introduced me to the DVDs. It's the best!

  • Man that show was awesome!

  • That show is a classic!

  • Bronson Pinchot is so f'n hott!

  • Completely, completely agree.

  • This made me cry. Why can't we have good shows now?

  • @Snicki1946 Because the fools in Hollywood no longer have the talented writers, and there are too many people that would rather watch trash TV than shows like Perfect Strangers! That's sad!

  • @Snicki1946 Unfortunately, the world has moved on and all that remains is nostalgia! The thing is, 20 years from now, you'll feel nostalgia for these times here!

  • @mishim100 I doubt that very seriously!

  • @mishim100 i doubt people will feel nostalgia for reality shows. " You remember that Sn00ki? She was a wild one..."

  • perfect stangers was a excellent show i watched it on tv when i was a kid

  • Wow,Perfect strangers

That really was a Good Show

  • NOW WE ARE HAPPY WE DO THE DANCE OF JOOOYYYY!!!! ty Perfect Strangers

  • i still remember this papa palo palo popa depo pads.. when larry had cold and balki gave him a plant that cured him.. etc..

  • I just love this show and the actors are amazing professionals, it's hard to find actors like this anymore

  • Crap infesting our tvs now. Shows will never be as memorable as this one. Now you hear nothing about mark-linn,Bronson Pinchot or any of the Perfect strangers actors.

  • i saw Bronson on Law and Order: SVU

  • i so love this!

  • shows like this, The Cosby Show, Growing Pains make me crack up no matter how many times I watch them. I'm so glad my mum introduced them to me. Oldschool owns ! too bad I'm only 14

  • I thought it ended in 1993.

  • The final episode aired in 1993, but it was filmed way back in 1992.

  • A Perfect Strangers reunion, please!!!

  • that would be sweet!!

  • way back in the early 80's in the philippines, american comedy and drama sitcoms ruled our local channel. Like the Cosby show, Perfect Strangers, Three's Company, Mc Gyver, and etc. They were all so awesome and sensible. And as far as i can observe, most of the kids in the 80's have an excellent english speaking skills. Unlike now, our local channels give us NONSENSE shows and t.v. sitcoms. Where are those interesting shows way back then?? No more.

  • just got this on DVD, too bad TV shows can't be more like this. It is a shame that today's youth will be looking back at "Project Runway", and "Hell's Kitchen" thinking it is good programing. I am happy I grew up during the final days of Good TV.

  • I miss this show so much. All thats on tv now is crap. The days of good shows like this one are gone forever. Its really sad.

  • You said it... These shows were well-made, fun, and they had heart... There was a unique chemistry between the 2 main actors, who managed, very successfully and entertaingly, to capture the spirit of a previous (e.g. Laurel & Hardy) and create a thoroughly enjoyable - and, like L&H, largely innocent - show...

  • Another EXCELLENT SHOW before the days of ONLY REALITY TV!!!

  • I wish all the seasons would be on dvd

  • "The itsy bitsy scorpion crawled up insidemy shirt.

I bashed his little head in, and threw him in the dirt."

ROFL! The friggin small clip of this show was enough to have me rolling again. What a great show Perfect Strangers was!

  • One of the best sitcoms of the 80's.

  • This has ALWAYS been my favorite tv show. I remember the dance of joy from when I was a kid watching this. My brother and I always went crazy when they did it!

  • You gotta love the Dance of Joy!

  • you gotta love this show period

  • This was such a great show! I miss it!

    A++++++++

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All the best in 2009 and beyond! Keep up the great work! Puerto Rican Love from NYC!

  • I love them

  • Goodbye Balky and Larry! :'-(

  • I Miss this show... I think it the most over looked show from TGI Friday.. I wish that ABC FAMILY would run this baby... I never laughed so hard then when I got the first 2 seasons on DVD.. These 2 men were FUNNY...

  • We going to miss those 2 guys

  • Can anybody tell me what the boys are doing from 1:02 - 1:12 ?? and why do they look like that ?

I didn't see the episode and the shot doesn't tell much!

  • That was a clip from the Bachelor Party episode in which Larry thinks he has gotten a tattoo of a naked woman on his arm. Jennifer is about to walk in and Larry's torn his sleeve, so he puts on the coat and has Balki double for his arm so he can keep the tattooed one hidden.

  • Ooooooh! It sounds like a hilarious episode! Thanks a lot for reply (and Thanks for posting as well).

  • I felt like to cry when i seen this little footage of mark and bronson.

  • THIS IS SO GREAT! Dance of Joy requested by the audience! If i would have been there I would have done the same. lol

  • Ironically the last episode wasnt aired till August of 1993.

  • August 7th, 1993. I remembered because a friend was getting married the next day. they'll be married 15 years come the 7th.

  • oops, I meant the Friday the 6th.

  • Thank-you maiziebunny....

I remembered it all except the line,

    "When his legs stopped wiggling"

    The rest I could remember.

I still wish someone would add the clip from inside the dentists office with the laughing gas, it was a favorite of mine....

That one made me pee myself laughing lol lol lol

    Thanks again.

  • What a wonderful show...they just don't make them like that anymore. What talented actors.

Does anyone know all of Balki's itsy bitsy spider song?

  • it goes: "The itsy bitsy scorpion climbed inside my shirt. I bashed his little head in and threw him in the dirt. When his legs stopped wiggling, I dropped him in my stew. 'Cause I like crunchy insects with pinchers on, don't you?"

...I hate to think what followed "Itsy bity stingray swam up inside my shorts" eek!!

  • I prefer that version of "Itsy Bitsy Spider"! lolololol...

"The itsy bitsy scorpion climbed up inside my shirt. I bashed his little head in and threw him in the dirt."

I'm tearing up after that interview! I wanted to hug Bronson and Mark! AND...I'm so glad I got to see their last Dance of Joy! Bronson was crying through it, too.

  • That last Dance of Joy was so sad!
