  • it also hurt when i am sitting in school that makes it alot worse

  • i can do weight lifting and stuff and it doesnt hurt then. Also i have noticed my posture is bad my shoulder are very rounded. Also after my shoulder blade starts hurting my neck starts hurting too. And its all only on the right side. I never remember injuring it i dont know what happened. Right now my family doesnt have enough money to go to the doctor. It also start hurting after about 20-30 minutes of walking it starts of becoming like slowing numb and than a dull pain comers over. Pleasehelp

  • They only had me do, 4wks of physical therapy, took no MRI's and told me they could do a surgery that would stablize it but that it would cause me a lot more pain than I am already in. When I injured my shoulder I also had a regular shoulder dislocation and I feel that is better but this scapula thing has me in constant pain and it severely limits my strength and range of motion. I feel like they must not have even cared whether I go better or not.

  • @ani451 see a doc interested in this topic

  • @nabilebraheim hi doctor, i am 15 and my right shoulder blade can pop out when i want it too. I first discovered it when i was around 13 i thought it was normal. Now it is causing my problem when i am walking with my bag on my back. Even thought its really light my right shoulder blade area starts hurting. Its a dull pain and i feel weird numbness like feeling. I can do the exact thing the person did at 0:10. Please keep reading my next comment

  • @jtrain91 good prognosis

  • Hello,

This video has given me more info about my problem than 3 doctors have done in 4 months! I have had this problem for 4.5 months. I am a professional drummer and although it doesn't stop me playing, the aching in the whole shoulder can be quite uncomfortable.

Thus far it seems Physiotherapy is going to be the most likely treatment, but during this time, I am absolutely to NOT play drums. And could I push for surgery if it would speed things up, albeit at a cost.

    Steve

  • @steevidrums take it easy and see the result

  • @nabilebraheim Thank you. I have come off the ship and having played drums in almost a week. I still the right arm for everyday things as this causes no problem, but do you think I should perhaps wear it in a sling most of the day until needed, say for driving or something?

  • @steevidrums rest it if you need

  • do you need surgery if have it

  • I injured myself weightlifting 2 years ago. Shortly after I noticed both of my scapula winging medially, not drastic, but noticeable considering that both of them used to lie flat pre-injury. had intense pain and spasming on right side with somewhat of a drop. no pain on left. Now: pain spasming in all shoulder girdle muscles as well as neck on both sides. no one knows what's wrong. can this injury cause such spasming? or are there other causes of acute winging of scap. that doesn't improve

  • @rizzo02481 see a doc and get emg and nerve studies

  • if one would have a winged scapula on one side of the body would it eventually weaken or negatively affect the adjacent scapula if untreated for say...2 years?

  • @isum28 rare but it can happen

    see a doc

  • That great thank you!!!... i had surgery to repair the nerve on 4-5-11 but my arm is still the same and my shoulder is still kind of drop, i still get lots of pain specially when am laying down, cooking trying to reach for thing. is been hard for me and i need to know many many people has had this nerve cut and what was the out coming of there surgery!

  • @TheDiamondgirl56 few people

  • upstate,ny

  • @TheDiamondgirl56 will find somebody in Ny TO HELP YOU

  • thank you DR,

  • @TheDiamondgirl56 where you living?

  • can you please tell me how many times have you heard of this nerve { dorsal scapular nerve been cut? and will it get better?... thank you so much for replying back to me!

  • @TheDiamondgirl56 very few cases

winging of the scapula can occur from injury of this nerve

  • because mine was cut when i had surgery on the neck!

  • @TheDiamondgirl56 i has a small video about it

will post it in few weeks

  • Hi, has any one here had there dorsal scapular nerve cut?

  • I would like to know how well the pec transfer works as I have two winging scapulas and need to know what level of activity can be done after the surgery.

e.g Would I be able to lift weights and play sports or would the surgery just hold the scapula in place? Would the surgery give me some pushing and pulling power back?

Your help help would be greatly appreciated as this condition has a firm grip over my life.

  • @Mangojee THE RESULT OF PEC TRANSFER IS BETTER THAN LEAVING THE WINGING ALONE

  • @nabilebraheim Thank you for the reply. After the pec transfer and rehabilitation would a patient be able to return to sports and lift weights in the gym. This is a very important factor for me as I am young and cannot do the sports or training activities I wish to.

  • @Mangojee the results are not excellent but good to fair

  • @nabilebraheim Would the entire pec major me transfered or would it just be a portion?

  • @Mangojee the sternal end is transfered to the inferior pole of the scapula

  • Is winging of the scapula the same as Scapula thoracic syndrome? If not, what is the difference between the two? This is a great informative video.

  • @kaleidoscopekay winging is what you see in the video

scapulo thoracic impingment is pain and crepitus under the scapula

  • can the long thoracic nerve be reonstructed?

  • @chinafox1 pec transfer

    rarely nerve graft

  • Excellent video...especially the video of the patient who had this condition. Have you ever had to do a pec transfer??

  • @elmoblatch16 thanks

we are considering this patient for a pec transfer

  • This is good illustration.

  • @nebraheim thanks

    I love it!

  • @chinafox1 great

  • Great educational video. Helpful techniques to diagnose winging of the scapula. Loved the joke too.
