  • did not know you could transplant radish. did start the seedlings yourself?

  • North of about Bunderburg, raddish is a winter crop. If you try grow raddish here in summer it just gets scorched off the face of the earth. You can eat the leaves, I process them with rocket and mustard leaves to use in lam curries.

  • I planted radishes for the first time this year. it said on the bag 30 days. well after 30 days it was about 3 inches tall and i thought yeah right. I pulled them up and nothing but roots. what do you guys think went wrong.. the soil was about half and half jpotting mix and sand.

  • how thick did you plant them?

  • oh about 3" (8cm) apart.

  • nice!! I don't love radishes but i plant them because they grow so fast, like really fast...

  • put a cloche over it if you can to reduce the heat

  • Um... I live in egypt... And i bought

    "Radish" and "Summer Radish" on a vacation in germany... Any tips how to not kill it from the intense heat/sunlight?

  • I learned something about radishes today. I should have given less nitrogen I guess. That and the excess heat caused mine to bolt. Bummer. Thanks for the info. Nice raised beds you have. :)

  • if they come up bent or over twisted it could be too rich or rocky, fertiliser teas are a good feed option for root veg, i'll do a few soon!

  • With these and the carrots you mentioned not using too much manure.

    I live in Florida and our "soil" is sand and a bit of clay. I have a compost pile of mostly horse manure (pellet fed) and organic produce from a health store and hay. What is the best soil for plants like carrots? I have a bunch of Dragon Purple Carrot seedlings in very rich soil and now I'm concerned it's too rich. Should I just add sand?

    I love your vids! Any chance you could you make one on fertilizer "teas"? Thanks!

  • I used to live in FL and grow the purple dragon carrots in the ground. I used home made compost and supplemented with fertilizer teas every couple of weeks and they turned out great. Hope this helps. ~Jeri

  • is radish related to arugula?

  • I don't think so.

  • yes!

    arugula= eruca sativa= brassica/mustard family

    radish= Raphanus sativus = brassica/mustard family

    they ara called crucifers because of the flower shape.

    many plants like cress, mizuna or tatsoi and rutabaga are all from the brassica family.

  • oh.. i was wondering because to me the leaves of radish look exactly like arugula.

  • I was always a big fan of the Fraggles. ANd just like them I love Radish :)

  • winter is just starting.... when was this made???

  • Its made in australia winter starts now down there.
