  • @mtnhunter1 go! NOW! That bus coming around the corner may be your trip to "heaven". Go, this is where I come from, you must go......

    peace and go safely.

  • @mtnhunter1

I'm with you. Although, I've had the chance to take several road trips around the country... I would much rather hit the road 2080 hours a year than sit in an office.

  • @morgandyme I hear you brother "Freedom Takes Care Of Almost ...Everything".

I stold that from a documentary about being free and taking every moment as it comes.

After watching that my wife and I at 50 said fuck it were hiting the road and dumping the house and crap.

JUst went to my uncle Ron's funneral were he suddenly died at 57 and I found out three things.

    1) They are printing money but time is pricesless.

    2) No one cares if you don't enjoy the ride.

    3) You write your movie !!

  • ride on where ever you go Dennis,

  • It can't get any better.

  • Dennis Hopper will be missed, ride on

  • ride on Dennis

  • i believe there is magic in this scene .

  • How sweet would that ride be with the sound of great pipes!!!!

  • Cant tell Levon Helm's voice? LOL.

  • It's a band called Smith

  • @dennbb The original song in Easy Rider is done by 'The Band' but there was a remake of the song done by 'Smith' For some reason they used The Band's version in the movie but put Smith's version on the Sound Track.

  • @Peterbilt982476 Probably couldn't get the band to sign off on having the song on the soundtrack album. Try the version in "The Last Waltz". Outstanding.

  • This is the Band!

  • Weird but I know exactly where that rock at 1:20 is - I have a photo of it on my wall. What a great video! Love the American southwest.

  • this is actually not the band, but a version by smith

  • @aguinaga100 Go back and read the credids in the film... this IS the band.

  • pure class................................

  • this was filmed down in central utah outside of emery

  • Nice video, no doubt

  • s

    such a prettty country

  • The hard rock band NAZARETH took their name from this song.

  • The weight is a good name as it weighs down anything it's added to, like these scenes !

  • For some reason this version is a higher pitch than the original version?

  • and a band called "Smith" sang the song on the soundtrack. Not "The Band".

  • the band performed the version for the movie but was unavilable for the soundtrack, so the smith version was substituted.

  • but they got shot

  • Classic clip and tune... thanks for posting

  • The Movie & Song That Changed My Life Forever. We Can Only Hope For Something Like Those Days To Come Around Again.

It Was Better Days, And A Time That Many Will Never Truly Understand. I'm Grateful I Lived In Those Times. Amen.

  • When I first watched this movie I was 15, and it has changed my life forever. Now, 21 years later I ride my own Harley on the long roads of my country, Brazil, where I can also see amazing landscapes like these and meet incredible people during the trips. In those moments I always think how glad I have to be for living in great country experiencing all the freedom of the roads and the rumble of the engine. Thanks for posting this beautiful sequence of the film.

  • I guess Robertson is still culling the credits from this, too. Why is it though, that the Weight seems to be the #1 song associated with The Band? What drew me in as a 13 year old in '73 was "Don't Do It", and "Stage Fright" from Rock of Ages, etc. Rick Danko always seemed so endearing. I wonder if my guess is right.

  • the scene at the end where they take all the flack from the local yahoos was at a restaurant in Morganza Louisiana, My grandpa would always stop there when he would take me to LSU football games as a kid.

    Great Song, Great Movie.

  • I took a Harley for rent in Southwest USA three years ago and spent two weeks there riding.

I ride a Ultra Classic here in Italy, and every time I ride listening to this CD (soundtrack of Easy Rider), it brings me b back memories of my trip across the States.

    God bless America from Italy.

  • Irony is the best medicine. Back in the day I used to zip a 250cc Ducati around Paris. Adjunct to the irony is that I lived in Napoli as a 9 year old thru 12 years old; on foot of course.

  • oh yeah this was a quick version but still will take it, thanks

  • seems a little fast??how's your joint Grorge?.lol

  • The Band spins such great story telling in their songs. Simply amazing!

  • Classic & a half...Since then I've gone from riding bikes to flying Power Parachutes...

  • bilbo baggins, now HE knew adventure

  • haha

  • Freedom is defined by the open road and the sound of your v-twin engine.

  • Thanks for posting this...This song was "THE" song that I chose for my Dad's funeral/viewing...He was a baby boomer and he loved this movie. Awesome Tune!!!

  • AWESOME freedom in a song and on a bike...try it..you WILL like it...

  • For me, this will always be the best soundtrack for all time. And what a great movie.

  • God I love this movie, Robbie Robertson..and the song.. well..what can I say..AWESOME!! Classic..thanks for posting it..

  • One of my favorite flicks, and this is the best part of the movie (my opinion)

  • pure beauty

  • The first time I drove through the far west from Chicago, I felt the freedom firsthand. I wanted to warm up an Injun woman's tipee-if you know what I mean! But also get out to Oakland with no arrows. Reno and Vegas was a blast though.

  • no better feeling in the world

  • Amen to that Brother. Watching this makes me hate it's getting cold here in Chicago. Me an my guys did some nice rides this summer when the weather allowed.

  • i love this song... long time ago...

  • As a Harley rider, I honestly believe that a ride like this would be as close to God as you can get. Just give me a bottle of vodka and a tank of gas and I will drive to Heaven.....

  • The answer to life is in these short 2 mins of bliss. Thankyou

  • this is 4 DEADDOGLEG, 'cracker' means 'fucking great'- its just i picked up some n,irish words since i moved here... it means its a song i will never tire of....

  • The best song!!! Do you know witch road is that? Route 66?? I am dreaming to do once in my live a tour in the magic route 66.

  • what road is it... isn't it in south new mexico...

  • Invest in a little something called "THE BAND-----The last Waltz".....worth the time and the money IF you can find it!!!!!

  • The name of the band is the group.

  • THE NAME OF THE GROUP IS THE BAND.

  • Name of the group is The Band :-)

  • The band o what a great band.

  • GREAT song, what band was it?

  • I live in West Virginia, and I sure would love to ride my bike all the way out there to enjoy that kind of scenery! My bike is an MZ Baghira.

  • The producers/editors of the movie soundtrack has replaced The Band's Weight with a version of the Weight by a group called Smith. you can find this fact on the liner notes. I own the Smith CD' and it's a pretty cool band, on it's own right.

  • One of my favorite things to do on a vacation is to get on my bike, listen to some great Rock N Roll music, and just drive. Hit the highway with no particular place to go, no plans. Just follow the open road and explore, meet new people, maybe smoke some shit with them or drink! If I am lucky meet a beatiful girl and have some fun! I love it. It is Heaven to me.

  • @CelestialWoodway

Man, you took the words right out of my mouth! I feel exactly the same way! Now summer 's back in Europe, I just take out my Ducati and ride along, see what adventure awaits me! Cheers! :)

  • @CelestialWoodway sounds awesome man, wish I could still do that kind of thing, with my car of course

  • If theres any film where the music was superb then Easy Rider is an easy winner.

  • Weird thing this song was not on the soundtrack album!

  • This is why I was born to ride

  • amazing 5*

  • Hate to break it to y'all, but the version of 'The Weight' in Easy Rider was done by a cover band 'Smith'. Due to contractual obligations the original track by The Band could not be used.

Nobody has a clue what the song is about, but still one of the greatest songs in R&R history!

  • Actually, the song in the movie is the band's version, but the version on the soundtrack is not due to that reason

  • Yamaka133 is right about the difference between the movie and the sound track LP/CD. Looks like those sixties d
