Cowon imo is the best mp3 brand ever i got the 02 as a graduation present their mp3 are the best the screens color is way better the the ipod if you are looking for a mp3 go for cowon

The O2 is better than the S9 in regards to the formats that it can play without conversion. In fact, pretty much any file you throw at it, as long as the resolution is 1280x720 or below, will play perfectly. MKV files apparently have some trouble on the O2, but the S9 has to have anything over its native resolution resized.

Not true I have the S9 and I can put videos that have bigger resolution on it without converting, and it looks great.

By my experience, the awesome list from best to worst formats are

FLAC - best (high bitrate)

ogg - close to flac quality with high compression

Mp3 - flexibility but use ogg if possible cuz it sounds better

wma - terrible... thats all i gotta say

I haven't used anything else because i haven't encountered any of them. Plus i buy cds a lot aside from downloads. With cds of importance i use flac. OTher ones i dont think ill listen to much i put in ogg.

WMA isn't terrible at all, it's at the same level as MP3, just depends what the bitrate is.

well in my case, let me just say i've never had a good experience with wma. thats why i hate it. All the songs i have in wma are either really crappy quality, or have drm which, oh darn, can't be played on my o2!

Cowon didn't set out to jam a bunch of features into one device, they set out to make a PMP. The biggest problem with the iTouch and even the iPhone is that they're trying to be too many things. "Jack of all trades, master of none."

The O2 is a specialized PMP. Designed specifically for playing media. If I want to use the internet on a hand-held device, there are tons of specialized devices that do that. Quality over quantity.

this player is a larger (physically and featurewise) successor to the d2. It has a 10 band eq rather than a 5 band and can play a few more file formats. It also reads documents. I think even though 10 band eq is really tempting, im gonna have to stick with the d2 since as a music listener just so i can stick it in my pocket without having to stuff it in. Just as long as i have some sort of 5 band eq with flac playback, then im happy.

Well it is not mine this is why it is too short, it has been released 3 days ago, the guy got it only yesterday. As DMB is concerned who cares ? It works only in Korea ^^. AS i know on D2 it works perfectly, it is smooth and in good quality, no pixels. No doubt O2 does better. My main question is about audio quality and how it reads videos encoded in MKV 720p on flat screen..
