im buyin a one of these 4 wheelers and im thinking about chopping the pipe like u did to yours. what did you have to do to yours to get it how it is now? and would i have to jet it differntly so that it will run right?
nice man. i really like your vids. like i said im trying to get out there so if you could make a recommendation in your next vid id really appriciate it . and of course ill do won for you.
@kyle6345 an 86 moto-4 225. banshe101 put kawasaki bayou 220 shocks on his moto-4 200 and they are probably better. you might want to see if big bear 350 shocks would fit
the only bad things about this quad as well as 225 moto4 is the battery location....winter gets full of snow, and if you decide to put chains on the rear tires well DONT!!!but other then that nice quad...could be otehr quad that has the same problem but yamaha didnt think really hard for that..... honda put theirs under the seat wich is a safe place from debrit or snow or mud or wha ever else you can incounters...
Does your Quad have a hand clutch. I have a 86 moto 4 200 that is a tank in water and mud I only paid 600 for Mine and I love it. I have a sintrifical clutch in mine. Great video
ok look you're new to yt so i'm just going to tell you this straight out don't start out more than 1 comment with the same words i hate that sorry that was rude but u might as well know that now instead of later before you get yourself in trouble with someone who's got a temper. that's not the worst thing you can do but it technically qualifies as spam which i've noticed a lot of people don't take lightly
and no mine is not a manual it's hydrostatic (semi manual) just like all moto4s
i cant figure out what year my moto 4 is but it has a 225 cc engine dual rear shocks and dual range transmission thats all i know about it. if anbody knows please tell me
they are front shocks from a 1986 yamaha moto-4 225. they make the landings from jumps better, they have a little more travel, they are softer and adjustable, and they jack up your front end just a little
Hey, this brings back great memories of mine. i dont ride it much anymore. But pretty soon im gonna get my electric belt sander and get the rust off the exhaust and deciding if im gonna get some exhaust pipe wrap or either paint it with the heat paint as i was going to do a couple months ago. i feel bad about the moto4
Very nice! My dad and i just re-aquired his 1989 moto-4, the first quad he ever had, and we're currently working on it, it always ran great but it has some electrical problems now it seems, hopefully we can get it going and back on the trails! they're tough little machines for sure
yeah it takes a lot to kill these. hopefully the electrical stuff turns out ok, last i checked, the CDI's cost $250 used on ebay. or does it have good spark?
yeah yamaha made moto4s in lots of different cc's: 80cc, 100cc, 200cc, 225cc, 250cc, and 350cc. that's it as far as i know. i think they were all 4 stroke
nice man, you did a lot of work to that thing already good video and the moto 4 looks a lot nicer than it did...one thing though with that exhaust like it is ... how much is there, there that will create back preassure because you can blow and engine real fast like that like we did on the 3 wheeler we had....but good job man !!!
thanks! i don't think it's going to blow the motor, the problem with doing something like this is that you might need to rejet, but this time the exhaust and filter didn't need that, i just had to adjust the pilot screw (i would've rejetted if i had to, but i got lucky!)
im just letting you know because on the 3 wheeler we had we didnt ride it a whole lot and i have that video of the exhaust we had on it and the valves are shot it smokes more than a 2 stroke now
Very nice! I saw some of your other vids, but never realized how much work you did on that thing! I get mine tomorrow night. I'll have to recover the seat at least, but I wouldn't mind doing some of your mods as well. It's an 88, but has yellow shocks, so I guess it's already been upgraded, or had them replaced from an earlier year.
moto-4s are good machines. this is a 200 and the 225s are more utility but actually I bet they got a little sporty riding in them! this is a good machine, dependable (i've done hardly any work on it) fun for trailblazing, mudding, snow/water riding, wheelies and bicycles. i recommend them if you get em for 900 or less! it's a yamaha, what more do you need?
whos the song by? im not familiar with the remixed version

does that air filter make a difference in power?
idiot1299 2 years ago
it was noticeable i probably gained 1 or 2hp from it but chopping the pipe gave me like 5 or 6 more so i got like 7 or 8hp more than a stock moto4
PowerRider16 2 years ago
how much was the filter
idiot1299 2 years ago
I bought it from a dealer so it was like $23 but the stock one costs about the same lol. you can get em on ebay for a little less though
PowerRider16 2 years ago
Good job!

what are the yellow shocks off of, mine have the yellow ones
junkyardmop 2 years ago
your moto-4 has the yellow ones cause the 86 and 87's came stock with them but for 88's and 89's you gotta get em from a moto-4 225
PowerRider16 2 years ago
Nice video. Do the new shocks raise the front end any?
I'm looking at buying a 1987 moto 4 225 just serviced for $700cdn. What are your thoughts on them?
