  • I would not consider those ranks to make an acceptable theatre organ. Since there are 4 families of organ tone, diapason, flute, string, and reed, a 3-rank organ would ideally have at least 3 of those. A 3-rank theatre organ would typically have a flute stop, a string, and a vox humana for the reed. Very few, if any, theatre organs in the U.S. had metal bourdons, although some British theatre organs had metal tibias. On the other hand, the concert flute is definately a theatre organ stop.

  • Hi! I am looking at a similar three rank organ for practice, and I had a question about ranks: Would a Metal Bourdon, a Clarinet, and a Concert Flute make an acceptable theater organ, as I know some smaller organs had a similar rank design.

  • Hi Tom, I don't know if you recall, but you were kind enough to send me some info on Moller Artistes a few years ago. Love the videos. Hope you'll be posted more in the future. Sadly, my Moller is mothballed for now until it can be rebuilt. Mine's a 1944 3-rank. Thanks for posting this! Greetings from Milwaukee, WI.

  • @JurglyWurgly

Thanks. I've had mine 34 years and it's still going strong.
