Range Rover Sport is by far the most beautiful SUV on the market, it has been since 2005. They are known to be a little bit unreliable, in terms of interior quality, electronics, and especially something called Dynamic Response System which can create a lot of knocking when you drive on uneven roads, or when you move the steering wheel from left to right. That's a shame. 2010 model is a bit better in that matter, especially the quality of interior. Overall, with flaws, this is the best car!

the first one is a 50/60 degree rock hill, strait up and down, the socond is rock "crawling" in MOAB, and the last on is a steep dirt hill climb . the range rover is the most capable 4x4 available stock. BMW has nothin on it

@costin6194 the suspention is adjustable to ur liking via the air ride system and when setting u set the car to. stiff suspention is important to improve handeling on any vehicle. if you wanna go off road, set the vehicle to the terrain ur driving on ( ie, sand, loose gravel, rock crawling etc... ) the range rover IS THE most capable off-roader available on the market stock. yea its expensive, but the features + luxury like any high end car.

I'm sorry but BMW 4x4 division will never properly compete with LR. On road yes the BMW does do a better job but the rest it comes no where near. Had both an X5 sport and a big Range rover and couldn't fault the X5 on the road was like driving a sporty car with the handling. If you drove it, you would be amazed. If you thought an x5 can handle, the x6 is night and day better. has the same width tires as a lambo and a new torque vectoring system that lets it pull a .90 on a skid pad. Those are porsce boxter numbers.

The X 6 is a more techno-advanced machine when compared to the Range Roover. The X6 is the new generation High Performance Cross over whereas the Range Roover is more of the Honda like past SUV.
It´s absolutely ridicoulus to use power and acceleration as criteria to choosing the best SUV. The mission is do it all capabilty, and the X6 clearly doesn´t have it. The X5 is nearly ok, except for a tiny luggage compartment and the lack of offroad capabilty.

That is a terrible analogy. You're judging modern day suvs (90% of which are not designed to ever go offroading) on a standard that is outdated. If nobody uses them for offroad ability, then what is the point?
Its simple. People buy modern SUVs for that large vehicle ride, for the towing capability, for the safety. For example, many large cities throughout the US have shitty roads filled with potholes. My 335i got a new tire/rim every other month...My new X6 50i breezes over anything.
Once again, nobody takes a luxury suv worth a minimum of 70k off road...it just doesn't happen. Therefore, the standard of judging them falls on the other things they can do that cars can't.
The X6 can tow over 6,000lbs (most SUVs its size can't) and its a lot higher off the ground allowing it to ease in and out of steep parking lots or run through a rough/muddy/bumpy road with ease. It also handles way better in mud and snow than a lot of other SUVs AND cars. Sounds practical to me!

Tell me where you're getting those numbers (links and such) for the RRS SC. Everything I've read says that Land Rover is claiming it only does 0-60 in 5.9 which is slower than the X6 50i.
Furthermore, they're claiming it has better handling (which isn't much from the previous year) but experts still say its no match for the X6 or GTS

Also the x5/x6 m are in a different price range then the range rover sport,so the only comparable model is the 50i.
Well, I'll wait to see the real numbers on that regarding the 2010 RRS SC because for now, all the experts say its slower than the X6 50i and the GTS.
As for the drag race between the jag and the M5, they didn't drag race at all. They were simply racing around the track. In fact he even says, "I'm not, for a second, going to say this is better than an M5." And, around the track, its actually slower than the M5...so I'm not sure what you're referencing.

@costin6194 the suspention is adjustable to ur liking via the air ride system and when setting u set the car to. stiff suspention is important to improve handeling on any vehicle. if you wanna go off road, set the vehicle to the terrain ur driving on ( ie, sand, loose gravel, rock crawling etc... ) the range rover IS THE most capable off-roader available on the market stock. yea its expensive, but the features + luxury like any high end car.
but hell you can get a 2004 for like 25 grand

i dont know how some people can bmw's are for homos? me dad drives the 4.4i x5 and they are pretty quick and in the uk its worth what you pay for. the x6 m is thebest thing BMW has created so far. the accelaration and 0-60 is incredible and if you search on here. the x6 m kills the range rover sport and its supercharged!

I'm sorry but BMW 4x4 division will never properly compete with LR. On road yes the BMW does do a better job but the rest it comes no where near. Had both an X5 sport and a big Range rover and couldn't fault the X5 on the road was like driving a sporty car with the handling. Personally I think the new X6 is absolutely rotten dont like it at all.

As for its offroad capabilities, it can still go offroad. You should really do a little research before you blurt out. There are a few videos on here of the X6 keeping up with a Range in several feet of snow, pulling a LAND CRUISER out of the snow, and successfully plowing through mud and uneven terrain...sounds like what an SUV does to me! Just pop those phrases into the youtube search bar and see for yourself.
The RRS is only better in extreme offroad conditions that 99% of them never see

how on earth can a 3.0 6 cyl diesel kill a TDV8 biturbo with 640Nm of torque? or the supercharged? how can you even compare an X5 with a Range Rover an X5 doesnt have low range its just a tall sedan. A Range Rover can be ten times more luxurious than an X5 or an X6. The real deal is, not every X5 owner can afford a Range Rover. we may not be on the same page, Im in a third world country that is anything BUT flat and roads are anything EXCEPT good so we pretty much go for diesel engines and BMW's diesel engine is crap. here, an X6 is pointless, because whenever you go on vacation atleas twice you will need to go off road and time to time need a low range to go down or up hill to reach exotic beaches, such as worldwide famous witch rock beach. probably where you live (LA suppose?) a low range and a diesel are pointless

It´s absolutely ridicoulus to use power and acceleration as criteria to choosing the best SUV. The mission is do it all capabilty, and the X6 clearly doesn´t have it. The X5 is nearly ok, except for a tiny luggage compartment and the lack of offroad capabilty.
They are nice cars. But can´t be compared to a range rover.

Thats just it though, we're not talking about its offroad capability. In fact, the majority of RR or RRS owners in the US NEVER take them off road where their true extreme capabilities would be needed.
There is a reason most SUVs sold in the US DON'T have 4 wheel drive...nobody uses it. AWD systems are often better in snow and ice than the average 4x4 system. BMW never claimed this was an offroad vehicle. They claimed for every purpose ON the road, it is superior...which is fact.

The term "SUV=sport utility vehicle" is a word invented by landrover when they presented the range rover classic.
The ingredients needed to be a SUV is a car that can solve mostly all tasks. it should be good onroad, should be able to carry and tow high payloads, it should be able to go offroad, it should be able to drive to the conference with dignity.
Many new SUV´s can´t do that.

People buy 100k + suvs for the comfort and convenience that they offer as well as more cargo room, towing ability, and that safe "big car" feel you get from them. That is why even Land Rover is trying to improve handling and 0-60 to keep up with Merc and BMW. You're just mad the X6 out performs the RRS on the road in every way

That is a terrible analogy. You're judging modern day suvs (90% of which are not designed to ever go offroading) on a standard that is outdated. If nobody uses them for offroad ability, then what is the point?
Its simple. People buy modern SUVs for that large vehicle ride, for the towing capability, for the safety. For example, many large cities throughout the US have shitty roads filled with potholes. My 335i got a new tire/rim every other month...My new X6 50i breezes over anything.

Once again, nobody takes a luxury suv worth a minimum of 70k off road...it just doesn't happen. Therefore, the standard of judging them falls on the other things they can do that cars can't.
The X6 can tow over 6,000lbs (most SUVs its size can't) and its a lot higher off the ground allowing it to ease in and out of steep parking lots or run through a rough/muddy/bumpy road with ease. It also handles way better in mud and snow than a lot of other SUVs AND cars. Sounds practical to me!

And lets not forget that the RRS SC is the BEST option RRS has...there is still the X6 M which will leave the RRS even further behind than the X6 50i will.
Tell me where you're getting those numbers (links and such) for the RRS SC. Everything I've read says that Land Rover is claiming it only does 0-60 in 5.9 which is slower than the X6 50i.
Furthermore, they're claiming it has better handling (which isn't much from the previous year) but experts still say its no match for the X6 or GTS

Also the x5/x6 m are in a different price range then the range rover sport,so the only comparable model is the 50i.

Well, I'll wait to see the real numbers on that regarding the 2010 RRS SC because for now, all the experts say its slower than the X6 50i and the GTS.
As for the drag race between the jag and the M5, they didn't drag race at all. They were simply racing around the track. In fact he even says, "I'm not, for a second, going to say this is better than an M5." And, around the track, its actually slower than the M5...so I'm not sure what you're referencing.
