  • What a Cow........

  • whats your average MPG now ?

  • sorry bud but blazin07ss's got a point. And 320whp is weak for a Z. when i get my 370 I'm lookin for at least 450. But for now, my COBALT is great. FAST, CHEAP ON GAS, RELIABLE. and that's all I need as a STUDENT. BTW an 03 Z sells here for under 10k. I know a couple people with em. And I do love them. Least your VQ sounds nice...

  • NA engines simply ROCK! period!

  • Nice ride man!! Is your VQ35DE stroked or is it still a 3.5? It pulls strong and sounds mean! I am saving up for a 4.15L stroker kit from Brian Crower or a 3.8L from JUN and was wondering if you think that it is worth it?

  • @JDMNATIONK24 still 3.5 liters, uses a stock crank. We have another Z in house that jas the 4.15 Brian Crower kit, that we'll post videos on in the coming months once it's completed. If I was going to personally build another NA Z, I'd utilize the HR crank, and custom pistons, to shoot for a 3.8 liter, 12:1 or so setup, similar to the 380RS/RSC. Should give a bit more torque, but still be able to rev to the moon. I love the high rpm stuff!

  • @JDMNATIONK24 heard some ppl are destroking their vq35 for higher rpm

  • DAYUM!!!!!!!!!

  • Whats the compression ratio?

  • @WRXTeddy final compression came in at 11.3:1

  • take off sound is just so fucking eargasm!

  • that's about 365bhp am i right?

  • @aaronleang I've never been able to really calculate the drivetrain loss on this car. The enthusiast sites pretty much agree on about 15-17% being the typical loss. The car at the state of tune when this video was shot, was at 320whp on TurboXS's dyno, which is configured to mimic several of the Dynojet's in their immediate area, As the car sits now, with some new modifications and a new tune, I have not been back to TurboXS's dyno, but plan to visit as soon as I can to see where it's at.

  • Just started reading your built thread, What an amazing sound, style and performance.

  • What final gear set are you using? stock final drive? 3.7? 4.08???

  • @RaizaR1 in this video, we used the 3.9. I am now using a 4.3 final drive

  • How much did you end up spending for everything?

  • @raulflores81 really impossible to say as it was done over the course of time. The full specs are listed in our build thread on my350z, and all parts are available through our site z1auto.com

  • Your shit sounds good as hell son! This is coming from a honda dude!!!

  • nice z man

  • @chopingtl419 - but you have a front wheel drive TL, so the power figures are completely different to compare. I wasn't launching the car, it was a normal street start letting off the clutch at 1100 rpm. Plus, this car has much wider tires than a TL, and I have an aftermarket LSD. Really apples to oranges to compare the 2 cars

  • @internettroll1 - I like rotaries too, we've had some RX7's before. They can be a bit tempermental though :) I love the versatility of the VQ and no reinventing the wheel to make it work and get all the electronics fully functioning

  • @SagaraSouske - If you like, you can check our site out z1auto.com and we have all the components we used on this setup listed for sale, and can easily put a package together for you for the parts, whenever you're ready.

  • @SagaraSouske - My exact setup (changed to a Haltech, Cosworth plenum and some other stuff since this video was shot) would be in the $10k-$12k range for the assembled longblock with the ecu. I'd imagine at a shop (we don't work on customer cars, just our own).

  • @bukusumisu - never had any issues with the stock engine, it always ran fine. The reason I built this was because originally, I had the heads finished - ported, cams, springs, etc. I had these completed in 2005 but never got around to trying them. Then a customer approached us who had an accident with his car, so I purchased his engine, and used the block to do my build. Once the built block was completed, I combined it with the built heads I had previously done, and viola!

  • Bullshit 320...i make 310 and i light up my tires from 1-2 bigtime...and there good tires

  • @chopingtl419 I make about 240 at the wheels and can spin going into second. What's your point here?

  • Hi there, I am wondering how much would a build like this cost for a 2006 350z.

  • Why? A rotory is nothing more but a failed helicopter engine.lol. We want engines that last, not break down the first run and take a quart of oil a day.

  • Drop a 20b in tht fucker =win

  • 0:37 is god damned HOT

  • aint sexy at all. Sounds raspy

  • @Gcoups gotta remember a car sounds much different when you are free revving it vs when you're driving and the car has a load on it. Overall, it may be a bit raspy even when driving, but I honestly don't care. I'm more concerned with the overall performance, and love the car

  • @Z1Performance I would go with performance wise as well. In the end its all about performance.

  • @Gcoups

    couldn't agree more!

  • Sounds like a riced out Tiburon "Forged internals Tomei cams built motor and MUCH MUCH MORE" And you only put out 320 WHP.

  • @Shiraz5063 ignorance is bliss as they say :)

it easily runs with cars putting down much more horsepower...because it has alot more rpm to work with. It puts that horsepower down all the way from 6600-8400. That's alot of rpm to work with. Combined with the shorter final drive gears, it holds it's own.

  • @Shiraz5063 He made 80whp more than stock.....what did you expect? This is the old DE engine.

  • damn! that sounds unreal!!

  • Did you have to do valves and springs for safely revving that high? Im getting a list together cause im also going high reving NA :] Drop some tips if you can Thanks

  • @pocketfiend36

it's got stock valves, and NISMO valvesprings. Aftermarket valves might be a benefit from a weight standpoint, and you might pick up a few cfm, since many aftermarket valves have a bit better interaction with the air on their underside vs stock (ferrea and supertech for example). I wouldn't bother to oversize them though. If I had to do it over, I'd probably opt for a 3.8 liter setup and a more aggressive cam, but I absolutely love the setup as it is.

  • Badass 350z dude ! *****

  • omg, this thing is music to my ears

  • Nice Z!!!

  • This video has me considering the purchase of a Z..... I just don't know if i can handle the whole 2 seat thing.

  • u should mod that camera lol

  • @hondacrxguy

I know, I know :) I'm not really into shooting video at all as you can tell, so it's my old trusty Sony Digital 8. I would love to pick up something nicer, but I have like 0 editing experience and I'd rather just put the money into the car :)

  • hahaha he just got dual catback..and cante199 is like NICE ENGINE MAN..hahahha lmao..wat an idot..by the way ur catback is not givin u 320

    lol

  • the car has a fully built engine - every single aspect of the car has been modified, it's alot more than just an exhaust :)

  • Hey I've got an '03 NA 350z. Ive done all the exterior mods that I am going to do but am looking to increase power. I was looking at a bolt on supercharger but didnt want to drop 5k for 100 horse. any suggestions? thank you

  • nice engine man.. how much rev? 8000rpm? scream :)

  • I think he said the rev limiter is at 8400.

  • yep, current rev limiter is 8400 rpm

  • it pulls really hard but i dont like how it sounds

  • sound to raspy.

  • that's sort of something you have to live with on these cars when you do headers and test pipes. I've also got a titanium exhaust on it, so that contributes to it as well, since titanium is not quite as dense as stainless.

  • How could you not like the howl at 0:55?

  • ddddddddddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyymmmmmmmmmmmm

  • what engine management are you using?

  • I would like to see what this car does if you got a set of 302/292 Kelford cams

  • you and me both :) though I have a feeling it would be very high strung. I may look into more aggressive cams once I'm satisfied we've gottan all we can out of these

  • have u ever thought about making it into a 4.0 liter that would be crazy too.

  • Sexy

  • nice car man im a huge nissan fan including the Z cars and you have one hell of a 350z, 320 hp is amazing including when these cars put down about 220 to the wheels. engine sounds great as well. gotta love the vq35.

  • The exhaust is titanium, so it's got some resonance at certain rpms. We're also using an integrated clutch/flywheel (OS Giken) so as mentioned, those tend to be a bit noisy as well.

  • wow that flywheels must make your car rev at touch! i wanna get that done along with new clutch on my z but never got around..sound good man!

  • its 320 to the wheels u fucking noob

  • XD

    LOL

  • wait so with all the mods you only have 320...i have 308 and im stock except for a k&n airfilter

  • yeh but this is at the wheels

  • What is that metallic sounding noise from the exhaust?

  • light weight flywheels tend to give it that sound

  • Light weight flywheel?

  • What parts must be installed to achieve these numbers? How much invested into the motor as well?

  • Sounds nice at WOT... What did you have done to the motor when this video was done, only cams ? Did you change the gears ?

  • sounds nice but damn dude so much rattle

  • stronggggggg

  • How many inches lower is it with your suspension? rear body kit?

  • nice z if you don't mind me asking how much did it take to get your z there cause i kno to take my slowbalt (08 ss tc) there i'm ganna "get" to spend about 3 grand

  • lol just get a tune and your already at 300whp and 330wtq with everything else dead stock

  • YEAH i just got the gm stage 1 kit :).... well it is going on this weekend lol

  • Blazin07 SS you cannot just get a "tune" and you get 300+whp. The 350z is a NA car meaning to increase power out of it is very very difficult. With a turbo car you can just have a tune and make big hp. NA cars are much harder work. Even the latest HR 350z model has ~250whp. Z1's 350z seen here is a 2003 model which has around 230whp stock. So it is a huge achievement to get almost 100 more wheel hp. Nice work Adam.

  • sorry if it appears that i was saying just a tune on a Z would make 300whp and 330wtq. the new 2008-2010 cobalt ss turbo with just a custom tune does make around those numbers though

  • @BLAZIN07SS Yeah but that's a cobalt.......JUNK!

  • @ferbsnissan mad that your "better" car can't make as much power as cheaply as a economy car does?

  • @BLAZIN07SS Relieved, to have a real sportscar and not an econobox.

  • @ferbsnissan yeah, a really slow sportscar

  • @BLAZIN07SS Still better than a front drive shitbox!

  • @BLAZIN07SS Still better than a front drive shitbox!

You're just jealous because you can't afford a Z, or a cobalt for that matter!

  • @ferbsnissan cobalt is paid off and on a big turbo kit...z's are cheap as shit right now too. lol

  • @BLAZIN07SS My 03 touring with nav books at over 15,500 right now @ 43,000 miles. Lets see your cobalt be worth half that much in 9 years LOL.

  • @ferbsnissan awww so your nissan is a piece of shit so all you can think of is resale value?

  • @BLAZIN07SS You're the one that brought it up asshole. I think someone's jealous of a real sportscar....you know, REAR DRIVE! Your junkbalt won't even last 9 years....and BTW my Z is in pristine condition too.

  • @ferbsnissan because rear wheel drive makes a sports car? the cobalt ss is 4 seconds faster around the nurburgring than the 350z and that was with wet pavement. and whoever would pay 15,500 for a used nissan from 2003 is smoking some serious crack.

  • @BLAZIN07SS Yes it does make a real sportscar.

Who races in the rain that's gay, it wouldn't stand a chance in the dry corners.

My car was over $34,000 in 2003. You're just jealous because you have a faggy little shitbox that isn't worth shit.

  • @ferbsnissan i don't think you understood me. the cobalt ss ran a 8:22 around the nurburgring, 4 seconds faster than the 350z. the cobalt is faster in every aspect on the most challenging track in the world

  • @BLAZIN07SS That doesn't make them nice to look at though....especially when there's a 4 door version of that car. I'm not concerned with raw power as much as the overall package. The 350z is going to an expensive dinner....the cobalt is going to the prom and committing date rape.

  • @BLAZIN07SS BTW a stock 350 beats your gaybalt by .5 in 0-60 time and has the same lateral accel numbers.

The best part of all, no power adders! Your gaybalt needs boost crammed down it's throat, kinda like you and cock.

  • @ferbsnissan an expensive dinner? it's a fucking nissan with tons of transmission problems. and you can say the same thing about the nissan that it needs 1.5 more liters and 2 more cylinders just to be slower...15psi from an undersized turbo is hardy cramming anything down the cobalt's throat.

  • @BLAZIN07SS

ok, lets not get so ego about cars, lets appreciate the beauty of cars cuz anycars can be made to go faster.

  • sounds sweet dude nice z!

  • VERRY VERRY NICE! IT'S MY Favorite machine, send a private mesage with yours Option's added PLEASE! Verry NICE! Thanks!

  • homo

  • NA > FI

    300whp is just amazing...

now if only the maxima's could break that barrier

  • God these motors sound amazing in NA, so sweet

  • Sounds insane! The Fujitsubo titanium exhaust is rare.

    Check out my exhaust setup.

  • its not raspy at all in person...you can't judge by the video as its taken with a simple camcorder

  • yes this car is raspy.....when he revs it the bolts shakeing in a tin can draged behind a car sound is rasp!!!all day ask anyone

  • I think I know what the car sounds like...it's my car

  • im not hateing in ur car i love the 350z urs and mine....just when ur reving it...its rasp not when ur driveing it tho....its awsome it sucks that u have to put all that money in ur car only to make 300whp.....07 z and im almost there with intake and exhaust lol=].....but ur car is very nice!

  • Thanks. The car currently makes 320whp actually. It always costs money to do things early on...I'm still happy we did it though as we've learned alot and I've gotten alot of enjoyment out of the car and the project

  • yea i saw ur other vid....and i bet u lol lots of tires i bet!

  • i could spend 800 and be putting down that much horse power to the wheels

  • Good for you.

  • damn you are cool

  • never said it would be n/a though

800 dollars for a nitrous kit with a window switch and nitrous guage on a 75 shot

  • uber cool man

  • @coryschenkel Too bad you don't have 800 bucks. And nitrous is for fags anyway.

  • y is it so damn raspy not to be a dick but this z soundsss like crap, but thats the only damn thing the rest is sick!!! i own a z myself...fyi

  • Saw the car in person recently and this car is pure tits. It was nice meeting you dude.

  • thanks man...pass the grape!

  • Of course man, look forward to riding in this beast next year :D

It will rasp when its in neutral lol. I've heard the stock exhaust with HFCs and it had rasp in neutral.

  • Hi im 18 and ive had 3 cars in my past and all thats in my town now is maro ss's and stang gt's i want to build a car just like this A BAD ASS NA 350z and show em whats up I think im getting one this week. You got any good performance websites and starter tips for the z internally to make it fast?

  • Stunningly Fantabulous setup.. but why did they make the zed's so heavy.. imagine that engine in a car that weighs 1250kgs and believe me it's possible for the zed to acheive this.. PS nice suspension setup, more power but less wheelspin in 2nd compared to stock car.. I also own a Z! :D

  • they are Tomei 268 cams

  • Nice video.. Z1 Performance.

where did you see that car?

    Comment my videos. Thanks!

  • Thanks - it is my car

  • Nice video.. Z1 Performance.

where did you see that car?

    Comment my videos. Thanks!

  • what kinda tomei cams?

    272?

  • Titanium always sounds good.

  • high compression <3 i love the snarl that engine makes when you let off the throttle.

  • hey yer and wat Exhaust system are you using?

  • OMFG that has to be my dream engine, ey wat intake are you using because I have been looking at the TOP SECRET individual throttal bodies and fuel rail, but they are a bit pricy.

  • I am quite literally GOBSMACKED!!! I LOVE THAT SOUND!

  • sounds absolutely beautiful!!!!!

  • i am reaching for the tissue box after seeing this......can you send me what your mods are and where you got them from, and who on earth did your tuning....god dammit, it's so hard to pick any imperfections in your setup and speed!!!....Also, you mentioned previously that you wanted stock like reliability, have you found out otherwise or does the engine hold strong? I really appreciate it!!!

  • not sure where my reply went!

  • hmm..maybe we can't post links to other sites in the comments? Go to my 350 z . com and you can look for the thread "NA Build Inside...Soup to Nuts

built by yours truly :) With help of course! Glad you like it

  • IRTB's in the plans at all??

  • I dont think we'll go for ITB's - as nice as they will be, they are still super pricey and a bit finicky to tune for. Cosworth just came out with an intake manifold that looks very promising, and I'll be installing that soon and trying it out.

  • love how it just pulls off...

  • A built NA will always get my respect..ultimate whp means nothing..the sound of a well tuned NA is more intoxicating than any turbo

props to the engine builder, it idles basically like stock...what CR are the pistons...

  • thanks! final compression came in at 11.3:1

  • Nice ride. But full NA, a Z only puts down 300whp? That's kinda weak.

  • r u crazy? Stock Z's put out about 230-240 whp...

300 WHP is a good build for an N/A car. I'm jealous! :P

  • I good improvement sure, but a full NA build with rods, piston cams along with everything else and just 300whp. A good, solid figure, but I'd expect more.

  • You have to understand that in the world of the 350Z, I am the only person in the US to date to show a legitimate 300 whp dyno on pump gas. In addition, while this is a fully built motor, we are not using the craziest of parts. We could have used much more aggressive cams, and other more race oriented parts, but we wanted a more balanced setup with a broad powerband and stock like reliability.

    Thanks!

  • You must not know much about a Z.....

  • thats not all there is to it man. ya gotta see the dyno chart to have an appreciation for this engine. shifting, he never drops under 290 horsepower...he has right around 300 rwhp for like 1500 rpms straight. and the torque curve is about as flat as a curve can be. This engine is amazing as hell really. This car would seriously spank the hell out of most supercharged Z's just cause of the powerband.

  • thanks guys!

  • Z1 Performance FTW!

  • thats THE na beast!

  • OMG

  • can't get a better sound than that vq!!

  • sounds so strong..damn
