@anglerfly A Derby Racer is basically a Carousel on steroids. It's meant to replicate as closely as possible to the feel of being in a horse race. A Derby Racer is very fast, the horses do jump but only slightly, but they do move forwards and backwards to give that feeling of moving back and fourth in a pack of horses. There's this one in England, a Derby Racer at Cedar Point in Sanducky, OH, and I do believe there's one at Playland Park in Rye, NY. I believe Mesmoland has a video of this one.
Do they mute (cut off) the band organ so the operator can announce his safety spiel? Very interesting.
