  • Hello, Ken. Wonderful execution and arrangement of Larry O'Gaff. Very nice tone on the ukulele as well (going to look into one of those).

  • Thanks for this video Ken, but ... I can't seem to find this particular model in the UK.

  • Where have you tried?

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele Hi, Ken. I typed this particular model into google and couldn't find it in the UK at all. I looked at the usual places ... the ukulele shop, the southern ukulele store, zings and so on ... I just couldn't find it in the UK.

  • Hmmm tempting, I see a new uke on the horizon =D

  • I hadn't tried this uke until I picked it up to review. I have to say, I was impresssed.

  • Thank you for putting this up. I've been watching the uke vids around and was thoroughly confused after learning how many choices one has when considering a uke purchase. Very informative.

  • The choice now is staggering.

  • I liked your review. In addition to the particulars of the said instrument, I would have liked to hear a comparison between the three you showed. I think that would have given a more complete review of the instrument and the tonal and volume quality/ differences that each has. I have been playing only for a short time, about a year, but I love the music you have recorded and appreciate the time you have put into your vids. thanks

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • @blphill Ken has reviewed a TK-35G and CK-35E so if anyone wanted to hear a comparison they could just load up all 3 reviews (not sure if these were up at the time this review was made).... same player probably same set up... sorted =D

  • Been dithering between a concert and a tenor for a while. This appears to have the best of both worlds. What's the price range??

  • It really depends what country you are in. Check with your nearest dealer.

  • Ken, how many ukuleles do yo have?

  • I own 10. But I have lots more belonging to Ohana.

  • Thank you

It takes a picture of the image with the video.

The voice is recorded with Zoom H4n at the same time.

Afterwards, the image is united to the voice with software.

  • ウクレレの音が澄みきってますね!

    録音はビデオカメラの装置でしたのですか?

The sound of the ukulele clears completely.

Was the recording a device of the video camera?

  • A Zoom H4n.

  • A brilliant review. I'm not so drawn towards tenors so something like this could possibly be a purchase at some point down the line. I was curious about the balance as soon as I set eyes on the uke. Very impressive.

  • I have to say that I was really impressed too, Shane. It was in a box upstairs and I only got it out because several people asked questions about it.

  • I absolutely loved that rendition of Larry O'Gaff. John King would love it I am sure. Thank you for the wonderful review.

  • Thanks. I'll probably have another go at it soon. I'm quite pleased with the arrangement.

  • well played there at the first, that uke sounds great.

    happy new year

    Ken G

  • Thank you Ken. Have a great new year too.

  • Excellent review. Thank you, Loon

  • Thank you, Loon.

  • About 30 or 40. But they are not all mine. I have 10 of my own and all the rest belong to the company (Ohana).

  • just curious? how many ukes do you have ken??

  • Great review Ken, and a lovely sounding uke!

  • Thanks Michelle.

  • My pleasure. Thanks.

  • Love all your informative reviews Ken.

  • Thanks.

  • super super concert review Ken!

  • Haha. Thanks Russ.

  • Lovely playing and a very informative review. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Thanks very much indeed.

  • Very nice review, very informative; and wonderful playing! :-)

  • Thanks very much, J.

  • The Melody you're playing shares a lot with the Canadian folk song, "Log Drivers Waltz." If you don't know it, check out the classic animated video from The National Film Board of Canada.

  • I checked it out.

  • Fine job, Ken! Aside from the differences in tone, wouldn't the sustain be better with the longer neck? Also wondering if Ohana makes a hardshell case specific to that instrument.

I love your reviews, Ken, and if you ever get the opportunity, I'd like to hear something about Baritones, perhaps the Ohana BK-70RB that's coming out.

  • The sustain is better on a super-concert, primarily because the strings are less floppy.

I plan to do a baritone review next. Unfortunately, I don't have that model though.

    Thank Don.

  • You are the standard when it comes to reviews. Beautiful playing too!

  • I appreciate that comment, Deach.

  • Fantastic! My parents would KILL me if I brought home another uke (they don't understand the appeal of the collection) but I'd love to give one of those a shot!

  • I had not really bothered with this uke, but I have to say I am very impressed with it, Barry.

  • Your reviews are fantastic. Your playing is too.

  • Thanks so much, Lynda.

  • My dream ukulele combo. Mahogany long neck concert with matte finish. Your playing was unbelievable, Ken. And this ukulele sounds great. I think it might be my next uke.

  • If it's what you want, John, then go for it. There is nothing to touch it in this price range.

  • Very beautiful stuff !

I want to own long neck model like this stuff.

    By the way.

I was looking you written testimonials about me on Ukulele underground forum site.

    I'm really greatful you !!

Thank you very very much Mr,Ken.

  • My pleasure, Tsutomu. You are one of the best players around.

  • Thank you sir Mr,Ken.

    I'm very honored.

  • Another reason is ergonomics. If you're a female, sometimes playing tenor can be more difficult because the body of the uke gets in the way. Our hills are alive with the sound of music. ;)

It's not impossible to play a tenor of course, but if the superconcert becomes an option, then why not? But as you noted, it's not a concert sound, it's not a tenor sound, but IMO it's closer to concert.

Hey, more variety, and that's a good thing. :)

  • Yes, I did mention the size of the body being too big, though I made no allusions to the female body shape. I feel that it sounds marginally more like a tenor but certainly feels very comfortable.

  • Very very nice. I probably couldn't play it very well (I'm strictly used to soprano scale nowadays ;) ) but it looks and sounds totally great.

    I always knew longneck ukuleles are a good thing :) :) :)

    Keep up the great work!

    Regards, Wilfried

  • This one is a really lovely instrument, Wilfried.

  • Very interesting review... I didn't know much about the longer necks ukes... But I think I'm sold to the fuller tenor tone :)

Thanks for sharing all the precious information!

  • Yes, they're interesting ukes.

  • I'm just half way through it yet, but I'm still not sure what I'm more jealous of: your instruments, your equipment in the back, or your skill^^

good job on that video Ken!

  • I don't use most of the electronic gear nowadays. I try to keep things simple.
