  • stich voice.

  • 16 people have no taste.

  • Eddie Floyd is the original, this isn't too bad, 'though not great, however, the Amii Stewart version is just unadulterated crap. She just fucked up a great soul song by doing a disco version.

  • Not as good as Amii Stewarts... but I LOVE this song! :D

  • I had no idea Cher covered this song.

  • HOT HOT!.

  • Chers Voice is nothing compared to Amii Stewart!

  • Wow how come I've just found this? This is a really good cover and features 2 legendary divas Cher and Ginger Blake

  • in the photo at 1:19, the rows of cher, it looks like a row of christmas trees. like the ornaments you droop on the walls during the holidays lol.

  • @qwq45 lol

  • i love this version but who did this first eddie floyd or cher since amii stewarts was done in 75 or so i doubt it was her. cher and sonny rock!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shinnymissjenny probably eddie floyd

  • @shinnymissjenny floyd did it first

  • @shinnymissjenny Eddie Floyd's original is from 1966. Amii Stewart's is from 1978

  • Nice bio...Cher is so interesting to me and REAL! I love her take on the song!

  • I like it.

  • Some of the photos look like Cher, and some don't, especially the last photo. I'm a big Cher fan myself, but she just didn't really bring it ....in my opinion. This song is really difficult to do for any lady, because it takes a really strong, booming voice........ with a lot of soul.

  • ...a lot of soul.

    Exactly. And it's all there.

  • I love her! Cheeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm huge Cher fan, but I don't think she brought anything special to this jam. I prefer the faster, disco version

  • Thanks for posting this-- I never knew it existed!

  • Is there anything Cher cant sing, LOVE her!!

  • I actually like this version by cher better its hot

  • If you follow music, you will find the same song released by severals artists within a similar time frame. How funny that Amii Stewart rocked the disco world, but Cher was a lasting wonder. There are so many examples of the record execs just trying to decide what would sell.

  • Actually, it has very little to do with the execs so much as what singing artist wishes to cover which song ( asumming they possess enough clout to be able to pick & choose ), lol

  • wow she looks amazing oh my god. im not even a cher fan or anything but she does thing song great! And seriously im lovin the pics!!!

  • Mmm, love this laid back 70's sound!

  • This Is soooooooooooooo Great

  • this is our tap dance song, but our version is just like this but its faster and more popish! it rocks!

  • I think you are hilarious :D

  • I LOVE this cuz the silhouettes resemble timber paper dolls...and being called Knock on Wood...its interesting to me since our family did some logging in our lives...

  • do you have spring?

  • I think this is is the best version.

  • O.o

    prefer normal

  • pfft! This song FREAKIN RAWKS by CHER!! Look how many times it was Favorited!!!

  • I'm with the Priest!

  • this is okay... but i think that "long distance love affair" is one of her best.

  • dbcrowns, perhaps you have not heard the buddy guy live version from houston,tx. second only to the original by eddie floyd.resonanceth, clapton's is good as well but buddy goes nuts on his version..much funkier. here actually cher does not do too bad. kudos to her for tackling it.

  • Have you heard David Bowie Live version of this song? He does it great.

  • SEAL !!!!!

  • I beg to differ. This version is deeply soulful and definitely groovy. The sometimes scarce and syncopated arrangement is brilliant. Not to mention Cher's inspired singing.

  • YOU are SOOO RIGHT my friend!!!!!!

  • Eric Clapton's version of this song is, it my opinion, the best I have heard from all of the other versions (even the original).

  • never heard Cher's version before.. very kewl!

  • me neighter

  • neither did i

  • Thank U

  • If you like the song, and hard driving disco, try the new Rachel Stevens (UK) version.

Cherstyler: THANKS for all the really good information on the history of this song, and Cher's marriage to Greg Allman and Elijah and all that stuff! Good history!

I'm a big Cher fan, always have been. She's one day older than me (wish I looked as good). May 20, 1946.

Cher cuddled up to Dave Letterman and he ignores her. He's an idiot!

And don't anyone forget, Cher won the Oscar for Moonstruck!

  • really like the big cig

  • She looks ammazing & SOO HAPPY here!

  • isnt that the whole pt? so ami fans will buy it.

  • try otis redding's version: you won't be disappointed

  • please amy stewart version is just as good

  • CHER worked harder in acting and music than ANYONE EVER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • It might have been her only hit in the US but there are other contries in this world as well. She's very sucessful in Italy and had another #1 hit there with "Friends".

  • This isn't her only hit in the U.S though. She had other hits. But yea other countries love her too.

  • YEAH!!!! I FIve-hundred and THIRTY-NINTH it!!!

  • CHER is ........QUEEN of all !!!

  • Ilove CHERRR AWESOME VERY GREAT

  • Cher my old friend still legendary!

  • I agree wholeheartedly with FanNasty. I don't think CHER's success was luck. SHE EARNED it. And so she SHOULD have. Talent begs recognition!

  • Seems like some people don't realize just HOW much energy, effort, talent, innovation, creativity, smooth style, polish AND finesse CHER has PUT into her songs and movies. I don't think she kept afloat. I THINK SHE RULEz!!!

  • There weren't any artists associated with disco, who didn't experience a career slump after the disco backlash. Much of Amii's post-disco music is actually critically-acclaimed, she reestablished herself as a star in Europe (especially Italy.) Most singers aren't as lucky as Cher in also being a TV and movie star, which has helped Cher keep her pop music career afloat.

  • The CHER version is the BEST! Everything she sings is EFFEN AWESOME~

  • amazing

  • a bluesy version!I knew this song transcended disco.

  • It's cool, cuz you made her silouette look like a tree in the beginning--and its called Knock on Wood. :)

  • This is a really rare collector poster. The only other person I know who owns one sd his got wet & ruined in his garage. Mine is framed. :)

  • This Is soooooooooooooo Great,My Favorite Pic. Of Her,Thank You,Jake

  • Wow, I didn't know Cher sang this song too, I like her version as well as Amii Stewarts.

  • She's cool and campy but I still like CHER the best!

  • Who is Ami Stewart?

  • Do a search for Ami Stewart on YouTube and you will find her cover version of this song. It is a full out disco number and very fierce.

  • Thanks for the nice comment, you should know that this is CHER's recording from 1976....She cut it first before Ami Stewart made it a disco hit in 1979

  • Ah, knock on wood. One of my fav. Songs. Well now that Cher redid it. It is now on my top list. Much love for Cher. Awesome vid. Keep up the coolness.

  • fantasia sings this better

  • Fantasia Is No where the singer that CHER is, but thanks for offering your opinion.

  • It IS and it is AMAZING! *smiles*

  • Hey isn't that picture in this video?

  • I never got the poster in the LP either but later acquired a big B?W one of the same photo shoot that has her with a cigarette. It is framed in my office and AMAZING! The songs are priceless!

  • Oh you were lucky to get that poster...I just got the album when it was brand new and no poster was inside. I do have promotional Stars Pillow case. What a strange pro item it was.

  • great job I have this album I love the pictures, and the poster it came with inside I CHERISH IT SO MUCH.

  • Wow! The work you did here is INCREDIBLE...the HUGELY long description and whatta thing you did this Memorial Weekend! My father being a farmer, planted & knew every tree and harvested wood under the sun. I recall he would always complain & show me if we went to look at furniture somewhere and it was only particle board or pressed-work. Never knew how this LP would touch me, as I craved to hear these tracks from this often much of my life. THANK you soo much!
