im guessing 2013 is peak oil and about 1 or 2 years after it (when gas is already 7-15$ a gallon and food is up and even more people are unemployed and you know with the EU about to collapse and about 5 major european countries about to have economic collapse) about 2014 or 2015 is when shit hits the fan, the world goes to hell, and an inevitable resource war, which will turn into ww3 will be the final stroke

@mquiroz90 The problem is that oil is so damn useful. Nothing is remotely as useful as oil. Gas and coal have their uses but aren't even in the same league as oil. Oil can be used for so many things, if humanity starts using renewables it will have to use so many different kinds of renewables at such huge costs to make up for what oil did all by itself. Even if the world doesn't end things are going to become much, much harder. Especially with an exponentially increasing population.

@mquiroz90 Perhaps...but you can't use wind and solar power as fertiliser to grow crops. Even if you cover the electrical issue, world agriculture without petroleum based fertiliser will have far, far lower crop yields and far less productive harvests. Which means food prices go way up and the world starts to starve. In the end, food and water is more important than electricity, and people will loot, riot and kill for something to eat or drink if they're starving.

I think our only hope is solar power. It's been doubling in production for many years, and looks set to continue doubling for many more. It will soon become cost competitive with fossil fuels, so this exponential growth will continue. By 2025 it's possible that a large portion of global energy will come from solar - the stat mentioned in the video is wrong (i.e. only 1% by 2030). One thing's for sure, though, we'll have to go through enormous disruption and economic turmoil before that happens.

Good vid but the suppressed truth of it all oil is renewed constantly and those so called empty fields are 80 to 90% filled up again (its a long story) Also oil can be found almost anywhere. If you live in the United States, it is better to stay there than move to a foreign country and be the broke Gringo when a Depression or currency crisis leaves you high and dry. It would be much better to move to south Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia where the climate is mild, rainfall is plenty and you have plenty of fertile farmland. Plus with a mild climate, you can grow crops in the winter since snowfall is rare

If that happened then the prices of these commodities would have sky rocketed in price and I mean sky rocketed. The level of biomass producton at best will only make up 5% of the world's energy needs and that is with a massive orchestrated effort by Governments all over the world. This can only be done to the sacrafice of much higher food prices. Sources please ?

Have you any idea how much biomass would be needed to supply 13% of the world's energy needs ? Price of Oil setting aside how much it costs to fuel up your vehicle heating your house with it. When the supplies get ahead of demand PEAK OIL is what it is called. There is a one way solution H20 or fusuion is what could be the solution. Has anyone played Frontlines: Fuel of War? It's based on what will happen when oil supplies surpasses demand for oil. So if it happens then there is big trouble upon the world. Inconcievable that the world will be vulnerable on resource based wars.

Also, if you don't think it's happened already, explain the rise in oil prices in the last few years, and why the US is all over the middle east like it is? The rise in prices happened because everyone knows about peak oil. Hubbert (a Shell engineer) predicted it a loooooong time ago, and it happened just like he said.

I agree that alterantive energy is being supressed on purpose. It is because the dollar is a fiat currency based on oil. We have the means to change to algea based ethanol easily without affecting food, land use or existing infastructure. The delay is how to do this without collapsing the dollar in the middle of a historic, severe world wide economic collapse. I am not sure how much longer we have but I would suggest being prepared: water, food, shelter, defense. It will be messy.

I agree with connectingdots1. Oil isn't a problem right now. What we should be worried about is the currency battle going on in many nations right now. The Fed is going to make an annoucement after the election and I'm betting inflation rates will rise quickly after that. Already were seeing prices on everything go up especially when I go to the grocery store. So if inflation gets out of control and you have no food your screwed. I guess well just have to wait and see what happens.
