  • Amazing! From a VERY basic plain cockpit to an extraordinary piece of art! Fantastic video. I believe your videos will inspire people to give it a go. Simply amazing...

  • Fantastic Cockpit !!!!!

  • @GarchingLF Thank you very much.. :)

  • Ps: You get some pre-painted etched brass with the kits as well.. probably things like seatbelts and instrument panels! I haven't seen a review of the kits, but will try and look one up online now.. if I can find one.. :)

  • You know I really need to build this kit in 1:72 (does anyone make it in that scale) I see this bird everytime i go to town! YAh for 0:56 Canada!!

  • @rebelsatcloudnine Sword has made two T-33 kits (same kit, different decal options, including a Canadian aircraft) in 1/72, as well as a P-80! The kits are quite new on the market I think, I haven't got any myself but from what I have heard the Sword T-33 is quite a nice model.. and I'm tempted to get one, as well as the P-80! Hannants in the UK has plenty in stock, if you want to order online, but you may be able to get the kits closer to home.. :)

  • Beatiful. Very well done!

  • How can you get them to look so perfect??

  • @hifi44sdad Practise... but mine are far from perfect, I am very very average.. :) I still enjoy the hobby though, it's great fun.. :)

  • I got the Verlinden detail set for this kit.....2 years later, still not finished.

  • @ialarmu No need to panic.. if it's not finished in another 5 years, then maybe you should start to worry.. :) :)

  • Hey man I am new at the hobby and I want to build a ww2 plane. What size do u suggest ?

  • @MEU98 I'd suggest you build a P-47 D Thunderbolt, either the Revell kit in 1/72 or any kit in 1/48.. :)

  • @MegaAirsoft97 Thank you very much.. :)

  • Great end product! By the way, where can you pick up some brass etched seatbelts? I can't seem to find any online... :-)

  • @minimodelling See my previous answer.. :)

  • You know rob i still dont get how to paint the canope & the cockpit as good as you do do you have any tips

  • @MrHotrod68 Keep practsing.. and just go carefully! It normally takes a couple of coats to make it look good.. :)

  • amazing

  • You crazy silver haired fox!

  • @WrongContextComment I wish I had hair.. let alone silver.. :)

  • @BasicModelling hey great job on the cockpit there

  • hello very nice job !!! i have a question how do you make the engraved lines look darker ???

  • @GreekpowerMITSOSGR In this case I used an ordinary pencil.. :)

  • @BasicModelling thank you very much my models will apreciate it a lot !!! :) love your chanell !

  • @GreekpowerMITSOSGR Thank you.. just go careful, it's easy to go outside the panel lines! I'm looking into using washes and things like that now, but I'm not good enough at it yet, to make a tutorial.. :)

  • @BasicModelling same here its so easy

  • This is a damn good T-33 model kit you have made there

  • @SuperSuperspore Thank you.. I was inspired when I made that model.. I have gone downhill since!! :) :)

  • what i wouldn't give for my airfixmodels to look like that

  • @LukeyChoob Oddly enough I picked up the old Airfix 'Shooting Star' in 1/72 scale at the model show last Sunday! It set me back £4 but it was worth it.. :) Not sure when I get it built, though..

  • @BasicModelling ok lol but how do you do you make them look so good i mean you must have a lot of experience at this sort of stuff because you R ACE!!!!

  • @LukeyChoob I have built models for a good few years now.. still nothing fancy and nowhere as good as anyone who can airbrush! I guess it takes a bit of practise.. but my first models were pretty bad.. :0)

  • Weight , of course! . That's why my F-15 Goes down D=

  • @spanish111japan Of'course.. :)

  • well, one thing is for sure, Acadamy decals sometimes are terrible, sometimes are good

  • @password1821 Yes, but that's the same for most makes.. Academy has improved a lot lately, because they let other companies print their decals now.. but the earlier Academy kits can be quite troublesome.. Still, a good decal solution normally helps.. :)

  • I bet you were dissapointed when you did all that work for the cockpit and the fuel tanks ended up looking messed up

  • @password1821 Not really.. The fueltanks aren't all that bad.. they could be better, but I'm still happy with it.. :) The worst bit is underneath, where it doesn't show much anyway.. :)

  • perhaps if you just painted the red decals instead of actually applying them, they might have looked better?

  • @password1821 Most likely.. One live and learn!! I think it was the masking, or rather the thought of the masking, that put me off that idea.. but yes, done correctly they would have looked better painted, I agree.. :)

  • Haha, your model is painted in Danish colours, how drab! :-P

  • Last time I looked it was in US Air Force colours... :) :) And no drab, just silver metal.. apart from the antiglare panel... :)

  • Master, were you taught these techniques or did you develope them yourself ? Just trying to gauge my skill level.

  • Some I've picked up from members in my club, some I have thought of myself.. only to find they're common practise anyway.. :)

But if you're not a member of a modelling club I do recommend you try and join one if you can, it is very good for picking up ideas.. :)

  • great cockpit i have ever seen i mean rally it is amazing

  • The ejection seat handles are oversized, but I know to do better for the single seater I have planned.. :) It was great fun though... thanks.. :)

  • Hey there, could you tell me if that Klear product is the same Future floor polish ? I still have some future from the 90's. I have heard others say its the ultimate clear coat for models too .Thanks for your time ,excellent site !!

  • Yup, that's the right stuff to use.. Klear is the same as Future, if anything Future is even slightly better than Klear, some claim.. either way, it should be ok to use.. :)

  • Lead pencil to show panel lines, eh? I would have never thought of that!

  • I was told to do so by the owner of the local Model Shop, who also is a friend of mine and clubmember.. It works ok, as long as you're careful.. but I have only really tried it the once! Don't know if it works on any other paint than silver.. I doubt it! :)

  • great job!

  • One of my favourite builds.. I have another one to build, when I get round to it.. a single seater in the same scale.. looking forward to get going on it later on.. :)

  • Hey!! This was your video number 50!! Congratulations! I got 90 videos.. haha..

  • When I pulled the plug on KurtGnu I had 503 videos there.. and if you add up BasicModelling + CurtisWildebeest + Tuberglue, you'll probably end up in the region of 120 videos (121 to be exact).. You see, just like any old farmer I like to spread the manure for best result... :) :) But 90 is impressive, you'll be going 3 figures before long... :) Well done, especially as you do quality stuff.. unlike me and my Bananas..

  • Nice model,nice wiring too!

Whats the smallest brush you use!

    And nice clamps too!

  • Thank you.. The smallest size brush I use?? I can't remember the size printed on the handle, it's worn off as I use it a lot. I did however make it even smaller, cutting off most of the bristles, leaving just a few.. :) As for the clamps, I may organize a small lottery, to win a set of 6.. :)

  • Academy decals aren't surprisingly good. They're amazingly good!

  • They are normally pure and unmitigated hell, I tell you!! But these decals were an exception from the normal rules that apply to Academy decals, i.e BIN THEM and buy an AFTER MARKET set... :)

  • I already had a glimpse of this, and it came out wonderful... I liked most the little hungry clamp-babys digging their teeth into the wing.. poor mama-plane^^

  • Yes, I was very pleased to find those baby clamps.. and they are really useful too!! :) I'm yet to send your prize, but hope to do so this coming Friday.. I reached my limit for postage after only a few kits, so had to split the posting over two Fridays (payday is every Friday now, instead of every 4 weeks..:)) I hope you don't mind the slight delay.. :)

  • np... I'm ashamed of not only winning a prize, but that you have to spend your income of a whole week only on the postage!

  • Ha ha ha ha.. No, not quite my whole income.. but I have a budget to stick to out of neccecity, these days.. It was just the order the parcels came out the bag, yours would have been next.. but rest assured I'll do my very best to get yours and the other remaining parcels sent off this coming Friday.. :)

  • Outstanding! I agree about the cockpit, you really went to town on that cockpit, and it shows! Love it! and the cables in the wheel wells was a great extra touch! 10/5! :)

  • Thank you.. It's a lot easier in 1/48.. but I still prefer 1/72.. :) Now I know I can manufacture certain part myself, I feel more confident in doing more modern jets.. Have you sent me a list of kits for your prize yet? If so I must have lost it, in which case I apologise.. and if not, then you're last in line by now.. :) Or do you want to settle for just 'the Honour'?? :)

  • Beautiful job. Nice seeing a plane again :)

Curious if it would have been better to paint the tanks as the decals were giving you so much problems.

  • Nevermind - just saw your reply to ToppervisionEnt :)

  • Then I will not repeat myself.. :) :)

  • Yes, and this is a PLANE!! Late WWII / Post War design.. and that's when planes still looked like planes, even though they had a jet engine.. unlike the machines of today, that can't fly unless a computer is involved.. You're not likely to ever see me model a F-22.. (For some strange reason I have quite a liking for the F-117 Nighthawk though, and at some point I'm likely to build one!) But I prefer jets of 50's, 60's and 70's design.. Much later than that and I lose interest.. :)

  • I don't even like the GRIPEN, but for the sake of my Saab / Swedish Air Force collection, I will build one of those as well.. Nobody wanted the one I gave away in the competition, so I'm still stuck with two, but I may well do both, and make one a F10 fighter.. The last plane they flew before the wing closed, but that was long after I moved to the UK, so I never saw them fly.. :(

  • Nice to see your loyalty to the Swedish Air Force :)

I agree - as far as fighters/bombers and such - older is better. But as far as commercial aircraft - new is not so bad.

  • Yes, I have to agree.. No offence to you though, but when I think aircraft, Airliners don't come first in mind.. Having said that, some of the entries I saw in the competition definetely had appeal, and apart from the 737-200 I'm yet to build, I may well try and tackle a few other 'liners' in due course, pending the outcome of the afformentioned 737.. :) Airliner modelling have a HUGE following, for many reasons.. but what puts me off more than anything is the difficulty in painting WHITE nicely

  • unless you use a spray can.. :) Which even then can be difficult.. :)

  • that was very very nice =)

    espeacially the cockpit!

  • Thank you, I'm very pleased with that cock-pit.. I nearly displayed it with the canopy open, but the thought of all the dust getting in there made me have it closed.. :)

  • hehe

  • No easy dusting.. :) :) I guess I could have had it unglued, and opened it when on display at shows.. it would work, as it has a tight fit.. Why didn't I think of that before?? :)

  • Beautiful build. I've had microset setting solution solve that decal issue. But those are so basic, you could just mask and paint that pattern without a decal. The airplane clamps are a delight! Very well put together video and review.

  • I was half thinking of painting the fueltanks, and had I been airbrushing I most likely would have done.. Next time I'll try the microsol and -set.. I have a bottle of one of them at home, can't think of which one right now!! :) Glad you liked the video, I had every intention to keep it short, but even at this length I had to leave a few pictures out.. :)

  • Very nice and the decals came out pretty good despite your bubbling issues.

  • The decals have settled quite well now, Johnssons KLEAR sometimes take over a day to kick in properly.. and just as you think you're about to give up, the decals have settled ok by thye next morning.. :)

  • Glad you built the ejector seat handles, just in case. I feel safer now.

And I agree that you've outdone yourself with the cockpit paint job.

Great work. And the airplane clips are a classy touch.

  • Yes, I'm glad you noticed them.. Just had to buy a packet when I saw them, and they are actually extremely useful!! Better than I thought they'd be.. I nearly displayed the model with the canopy open, but the thought of all the possible dust getting in there put me off the idea.. :) Now I need to work out a way to improve seats in 1/72 scale, if need be.. perhaps a thinner wire wrapped around a toothpick?? :)

  • Wires, toothpicks and clips, oh my!

    I'll stick with screenwriting.

  • It's all part of the fun, trying to figure out ways to improve the kits, without spending a fortune on professionally done resin sets and the like.. You can no doubt buy a very nice resin cock-pit interior for that plane, with accurate seats and instrument panels and the works, but it'll most likely cost you more than the kit did to start with.. :)

  • Here too? :)

  • What a nice job! Thank you for sharing.

  • Thank you.. and thanks for watching.. :) :)

  • forgot to say there is a show coming up at duxford

if i am not working i will go,love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • I'd love to.. but I'm hoping to attend the Model Show at Hendon this monthy, if I can.. no flying, but plenty of static aircraft, and hopefully some nice models too.. :)

  • we could not imagine anyone thinking your model's were crappy, love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • I guess they probably just didn't like the fact that they are mainly Russian.. but I build what takes my fancy, and I have both a Su-25 Frogfoot on the go, and to Russian Attack Helicopters to make (soon).. But I build all sorts, as you know.. :)

  • Great job...improvements made every time..not tHAT i COULD COME CLOSE TO THIS LEVEL...

Cockpit looked great..you must be proud of it...

Reminds me of like the first sort of jets.....maybe thats wrong, but it does....

Great job man.....you make 12quid look very good value.

  • You're spot on, re. the early jet idea.. The T-33 is a 2-seater version of the P-80, which was the FIRST US jet to fly, seeing very limited action at the very end of WWII, I believe..

  • nice build. The cockpit look good!

  • Thank you.. I'm very pleased with it.. It's easier to detail in 1/48, I discovered.. :)

  • nice clips were did u get them?

  • The little aeroplanes?? At the local supermarket.. (Tesco)

  • kk cool thanks

  • There's probably around 3 or 4 in the area where you live, we have about 4 in our town alone.. :)

  • we are getting a huge 1 built just outside my house and there is a huge group of people not wanting it any way back to the point you are right.

  • We have a huge one here, and when they wanted to make it even bigger people finally said 'enough is enough'' and the council didn't give them planning permission, so hopefully they won't grow bigger still! Mind you, I had one of my first jobs there.. at the time when I held TWO jobs to get some extra money coming in.. :)

  • Very good masking

  • It was only to stop the filler from going everywhere.. didn't really need much filler at all, just use it as a precaution.. :)

  • yes you are right ..the cockpit looks nice

    very nice video.....!

you dont use a decal softer... so you have no more liftet and bubbled decals!...... this model looks awesome.... like the t-33 shooting star... is very nice jet! shure its a navy fighter :-)))))))

  • I have a bottle of 'micro sol' somewhere,, just haven't got round to using it yet.. Johnsons Klear normally does the trick, even on stubborn Acadsemy decals.. :) All the rest of the decals settled down beautifully.. :) Glad you liked my effort, I hope to find a single seat P-80 in 1/48 somewhere, and have the two models together as a pair.. :)

  • I really like that one - shame it's not a crappy tank but I will let you off

  • it looks like moths are attacking the plastic :) uh, are you permitted to advertise Eagle Oil without paying a fee? and a pricey kit indeed!

it's a nice build video...I was in USAF 4 years but never saw a fighter, only C121, C118, C119, and C130 (noisy even with pink earplug stuff so I am amused to see films with ppl talking) You maybe want to try a C119? you can build the one I took out of Turkey in 59!!!

  • The cockpit does look particularly good. i like the bits you added to it, really finishes it off. =]

  • Little bit oversized, perhaps, but they show up nicely through the closed canopy.. :) At least now I know I can make similar handles, should I have to again.. just roll them over a toothpick for 1/72 scale, using a finer metal thread.. :)

  • An excellent build, dear sir.

  • Just for once I will not be afraid to say that I agree... :)

  • nice clamps you use... ;)

  • Glad you noticed.. I got the idea from somebody else, who used miniature clothes pegs.. but these I just had to buy when I saw them.. :)

  • I had the privledge to sit in a T33 once...

    very kewl

  • Really? I'm actually impressed. I assume it was a 'full scale model'? ;^)

  • LOL yea my fat butt wouldn't fit now... LOL

  • Flying?? I'd be pleased just to get in the cock-pit of one.. :) :)

  • They could not close the canopy... without head or feet removal anyway

  • They no doubt would have had the same trouble with me.. :)
