This ad sounds a LOT like what I hear from anti-abortion nuts, except it has a mother giving birth to a bunch of disabled children, asks you if you would abort the next, ending with a "congratulations...you just aborted Mozart/Beethoven/Einstein/half a dozen other people".
I mean this is a really tough example. In an office setting it'd probably be fine...in an ER where it's an INCREDIBLY high pressure environment and you MUST. SAVE. LIVES. I proably wouldnt hire someone terribly prone to mental illness because it could be detrimental to the patients, the staff, and the person with mental illness who's under pressure to save lives--that could really exaserbate that.
"You've found a candidate with all the qualities you need, but she has a history of mental health problems. Would you hire her?"
That depends. What KIND of mental health problems? What kind of accommodations must I provide?
Does she have a history of going insane at the slightest thing and killing people? Does she start banging on her head whenever people are yelling at her, like rain man?
@terrorsquadlith some of us are very normal. you wouldn't even suspect anything if you just met us on the street. i'm a stable schizophrenic, i lead a completely normal life, i have friends, a fiance, a job, and i'm a full time computer sciences major. if we met you would never suspect that i had a mental condition. unfortunately YOU cant hide hide being a douche.
Well I think that depends on the disability

It is fallacious reasoning.

@gypsymarika It's sheer ignorance, plain and simple.
And FYI: many of us HAVE developed problem-solving skills.
