Not true. Black slavery in north America began after Bacon's rebellion (Thanks to the Portuguese). The first slaves were white peasants of England brought over to settle in the new Jamestown colony. It was a ~50 year disaster. The is a ton of real interesting history you can research about this period that I only touched on.
