Sad to say things are the way they are. This is a white dominated society. I do think to a point that affirmative action is dumb. As blacks we are not given the same chances as whites so I can understand the need to force a hand so to speak. However, These people own or are in charge of a business and they can hire who they want to hire. So its not fair either way. We are thrown bones from time to time to shut us up. As a black I think affirmitative action helps perpetuate the notion that blacks are not smart or qualified enough to get jobs, promotions on their own. It was good back then and it should be changed. I believe in affimative action that is needs and class based not race and gender based. You include everyone with this model of affirmative action based on class and needs. I teach low income and poor kids black and white who perform very well academically.

Yes that's true. It needs to be needs and class based, not gender and race based because what you end up is doing is discriminating against whites and males. Discrimination of any sort is not true equality.

So by making Affirmative Action class based, in which the person has potential but not the resources or money, they can still get into the good school or land the great job whether white, black, male, female, etc. No one likes to see talent get wasted.
