would it be that hard to combine both clocks so that it told time and had the calender on it or at the veryleast incorperate its own weighted system to it so that it keeps it going so you dont have to change the day. it would just be safer. who knows your the wizzard here. you seem to have clockwork down pretty well, could you do vid of exactly a regular clockworks. im having the worst time putting togetherthe information.
This is absolutely amazing...I cannot even being to appreciate the mathematics involved in creating this. And that is not even taking into account the gorgeous wood-working that has gone into it.
1stly, are you Clayton Boyer? because this is one of the 8 wonders of the modern world.
2ndly, I would love to have a calendar like this, but is it possible to design a optional removable cover, that only shows the date, day etc when put on?
I appreciate the time and effort you take to produce your designs. I can say you can most definitely sell your plans for much more than you do. If your modest or not, I know you appreciate the following you have created. I personally can't wait until I can afford the tools it takes to make your creations, like Adrian and others. When I do, I will post it for everyone to see. Thanks for being so generous. I can't wait to see yours and Adriana comments of my personal twist.
No matter how many times I see this, I still can't figure out how it works. You loose me every time at the part with the end of the month advance cam thingy.
@NathansBackwoods ya, you could buy several computers for what this thing would cost IF you could even get one.. and it has plenty of rom for error.. you have to remember to pull the chain every day..
"Rom" for error, huh? It seems as though your fancy computer missed that one... All that aside, you're missing the point. This is a beautiful work of engineering and art, not an atomic clock, you moron.
@NathansBackwoods The term "bug" came from an instance of a moth flying into a mechanical component of a computer... so I will call that a problem. They are awesome though.
that was brilliant! Maybe you should change the balance wheel (the one that goes round and makes the full think move) into some wheel that allows the rotation to continue once the movments are done. At 5:03, I don't like how it stops, it's too brusque plus it will probably wear the wheel out alot faster ;)
Aloha Wazii6, I considered powering this mechanism with a clock, but I figured that you'd miss all the action unless there was some signal that the clock was about to be set off. The real fun of this mechanism is watching it go through all of its gyrations. Even after all this time, I still love watching the calendar's movement each morning when I throw the levers!!!
He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour and the moon a light, and measured for her stages, that ye might know the number of the years, and the reckoning. Allah created not (all) that save in truth. He detaileth the revelations for people who have knowledge. (5)

Alas, one day every four years the CMC-O requires some human input. That problem is solved simply by not throwing the levers that release the motive mechanism, and manually moving the day of the week wheel and the day of the month wheel one notch. With that simple maneuver complete everything is ready for the next four years
The great thing about creating your own universe is that you can change it at will. Especially important when one is trying to demonstrate what it is capable of. If you don't like today, change it to tomorrow or yesterday or next month. Want to see when Mercury goes into retrograde? Wondering when the next full moon will be? How long until the solstice? What the next full moon ascention sign is, or where the sun is in the zodiac? It's all there. Just throw the levers and it will show you.
