Given that it's just "tag" when it comes to the snitch, my guess is that within a few minutes, the snitch would be snatched. So does a game only last about 15-20 min?
It's a really intense sport, seeing as you have to keep a broom between your legs at all times. Because of that you can only use 1 hand, making it a lot harder.

I thought it was stupid because the brooms didn't make you fly and in the movie it looked like the best part about quidditch was the flying but when I tried it, it was really fun to play. It's like football, basketball and dodge-ball combined. Just look at the broom as an extra obstacle instead of a flying mechanism and you'll see a real sport

@jaccubin Actually that's not true. The snitch is only worth 30 points. If you score enough you can win even if the other team gets the snitch. There was one game where the other team got the snitch, but they lost because they didn't score enough. It balances out.

Well there's a few reasons, mostly its to keep the general athlete out of it. Its a sport created by the people that couldn't play anything collegiate like lax, football, or basketball. And the brooms help keep it that way. A little goofy, but not over the top. plus its alot more awkward to run with a broom, and have to catch the ball with one hand.
@sherbertx10 It's funny, cuz there actually are some real athletes out there playing. Look at some of the players, hell watch a middlebury game. Quidditch is serious business for these guys.
@TheSimsTips Yeah, it's a bit awkward but they can't not use brooms because J. K. Rowling described Quidditch as a sport on brooms. Without the brooms it wouldn't be Quidditch. And it adds the challenge that the Chasers are only supposed to toss and catch the Quaffle with one hand because the other one's holding on to the broom.

The guy in all yellow is the snitch, he has a sock with a tennis ball in his belt loop.
They use either Wrestlers or Acrobats for the Snitch, sometimes cross country runners. ^^
