it's not generated, being sad because of a something that happens in our life is normal, everyone experience it and doesn't cause depression. Depression is due to downregulated serotonin and endorphins receptors so that you feel overwhelmed, anxious and sad even if there's no external reason and you have lot of money, a fantastic girlfriend, lot of loyal friends, a great family, a big house or whatever

it depends, they put people on meds to stabilize's you so you can learn ways to cope. there have been people that did come off them and theres just some that needs them for life, now for long term well gives you a chance to be more real about things and not your deep down mode.The pill is kind of the same is some one with diabetes don't take there meds the chances of getting sick is more grater

Being sad isn't a problem. It's when you have chemical imbalances that MAKE you sad that you have a problem. I would personally lay off the medication so i'm not numb to the world too much to know that my depression is over when it is, but it CAN be an illness, because illnesses 1) Are passed genetically as a trait and 2) are caused by some sort of abnormal/ outside influences. It CAN take lives and should be treated if life threatening.
