great video and great version of a great song. now that#s rhree"greats" in my opening sentence! thanks for uploading this . the sentiments of the song like "Freedom Come All Ye" show scotland at its humanistic best! greetings from ireland
I first heard this setting for this Burns poem on a BBC Radio Nottingham folk programme called 'Folkways' (I think that was the name). Fabulous! BBC are idiots for cutting their local evening music programmes!!
I am a wee Scot and so proud of my homeland, though now I live in Virginia Beach across the Ocean... My heart will always be in Scotland! Happy Rabbie Burns night to all my fellow Scots where ever ye may be.
born/lived in Ayrshire for 46 years where Rabbie burns wrote this song.now live in sunny Arizona for 4 year and I still love listening to this sort of stuff
@Gimmer3 It's nice to see that people are proud of their Scots ancestry I am of course a Scotsman :-) We tend to take a lot of our culture for granted here. I was treated like a rock star when I went to America (VA). Everyone wanted to hear me talk :-)
@bloobear1 , When you go to the American south a huge proportion of the population has Scottish ancestry. There are some really fantastic highland games down there because of it. Where I live there are allot of people with Scottish ancestry. I never get tired of listening to a Scot talk either!
@scotsmaninusa ..... I am also from Bonnie Scotland, Campbeltown Argyll, i've lived in Virginia Beach for the past 25 years, there are many lassies here from home. My wee lassie lives in Glendale Arizona. The Scots bond is stronger than any other I know.

@nacho1560 , Oh you are on to me. Yes my ancestors lived in Glasgow and were coal miners and weavers. I think of America as my Mother and Scotland as my Grandmother. I have been twice and Scotland is more beautiful even than I imagined it would be.
@divduvet27 "An English poet couldn't have wrote this"? Did you not hear the song? All men are brothers, and Burns understood this, as did Paine, Owen and all the great men of the age, regardless of nationality, as have all great mean before and since.
I have but recently become a true fan of Rabbie Burns. I had read his poetry but I never liked poetry. They are just carefully measured and mitred words. But after I began listening to his words set to music, the first I heard was " My Love is Like a Red Red Rose ", only then did his words take heart. If that makes me shallow, then I apologise. I am not so sophisticated as many. But he shall now be a favorite of mine for the rest of my life.
I always liked Burns but became a big fan after hearing the lyrics sung just like you. It is easier to understand too. Thanks for watching the video. Please watch my other Burns videos if you have time?
Im a ayshire man myself, less than 10 miles from rabbies bithplace of alloway so when i hear the mans work i always feel a strong connection with it,good video mate.
Last year at this time I was boarding a plane for Scotland. I wish was there now. Ayeshire is a beautiful area. I love the Borders! Burns is the greatest poet of all time as far as I am concerned.
Thank you so much for looking. I was over to Dumfries last August and toured the last house Burns lived in there. There are some shots of it in the video including inside. It's hard to beat Ian Benzi's voice!
Such a great nation.
Although it was 250 years ago, its full of compassion for the poor with equal amount of contempt for the idle rich..
Shall brothers be!

My 23d matrilineal great grandfather spent his life winning Scotland her independence from Edward of England. He died in 1329.

Gimmer, your love of Scotland shines out so much, your love of Burns and the Border Collie thing, too. You must have Scottish ancestry, surely.

Lovely version of this song. Lovely voice, lovely accompaniment, and the words so nicely interpreted, in a touching, understated manner...

And please don't bash me by asking, " Had you never heard Auld Lang Syne? "
Of course, I had. But I did not know who had written it. Nor had I ever cared until recently.
