  • I worked there for Lagarda Security during the summer of '08 The demolition was done by Adamo.

  • Union slobs thought they were indispensable, found out the hard way that NO ONE is! Used to go on strike every three years; now that they've put companies out of business, are now crying what "loyal" employees they were. That's why I can't feel sorry for these UAW morons.

  • Ahhh... Capitalism... The downfall of society.

  • @stewiesfan2011 -- Ahhh...Unions...The downfall of Jobs.

  • The last foundry buildings of Studebaker in South Bend, Indiana are being demolished this month, May 2011. The "S" on the top of 4 sides of the plant have been ripped off and the hulk of an empty steel / brick building are forever lost to history. Studebaker was the ONLY successful carriage company to completely switch over to the automobile! GM, Chrysler & Ford can't say that.

  • still waiting for good old Mike Moore to dump some serious cash in Flint.....and waiting.....and waiting.....

    Bunch of suckers....

  • still waiting for good old Mike Moore to dump some serious cash in Flint.....and waiting.....and waiting.....

    Bunck of suckers....

  • I've spent the last 35+ years in the automotive industry. From a Technican for GM to a major supplier. Personally, GM helped kill GM. Quality? That was a joke in the '70s. Finding tools, gloves in body panels, to (personally) having a transmission mount fall out at 4k miles on one vehicle & an engine head crack at 26k on another. All the while, Toyota focused on quality & gained market. By the time GM realized their ways & changed direction of that fat, bloated ship, it was too late.

  • Unions killed flint as well as Detroit!

  • @Crushradio1 - Really? I'm amazed on how you can pull all of that out towards a guy who left a 16 word post on a viral video... good job with the mother insult too, really puts the nail in the coffin I'd say... I bet you won every debate on your high school debate team with that line.

  • @ Thunder appeal--why dont you go ask that quitter up in alaska. Another thing use your own words not someone elses. Obama had nothing to do with the downfall of Flint. Pull your head out of your @ss! BUSH royally screwed this country up...Not Clinton..or Obama...your boy Bush! And that dingbat Sarah Palin has no chance. Our only hope for making that cockroach of a woman go out of the spotlight is a plane crash or assasination. F- You for being so dumb and your mom too for raising an idiot

  • @Crushradio1 Actually it was a Demon-cratically controlled congress that did it.

  • The Uaw killed Flint. This is what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you every chance get & go on strike at the drop of a hat.

  • @MrOphachew --All my parents ever did was rant about getting into GM. From an early age all I ever heard was "go get into GM they don't do anything," "Get into GM and you won't have to do anything." Well my last serviving parent finally kicked the bucket on March of '06 and come March of '08 they are demo'ing the ole AC/Delphi plant on Dort Hwy!

  • Did you guys vote for obama? Hows that hokey 'hope and change' working out for you?

  • MY FAMILY WORKED HERE 65 YEARS, MOM BROTHER ,ME MY NIECE, SISTER.ILL MISS THE PEOPLE THE MOST. eEVELYN

  • Got to love capitalists

  • I came from Flint. Most all of my family at one point worked for GM, etc. When they took these buildings down, they made sure I will never buy a GM product. NEVER! They killed my hometown.

  • @SunLogic1973 ...and not buying any GM products will just make the same things happen to another town...good job.

  • @iluvincitingviolence - Friend, I don't believe my not buying their products will bring them down, or shut down another town. I see your logic in saying that for many that would feel the same as me, but I will tell you this. They screwed my hometown. Flint IS dead. I can not go back home. There aren't enough good jobs. GM might as well have dropped a bomb on the place. When someone does that to your home, you don't support them by buying their product. GM is dead to me.

  • @SunLogic1973 That's fine, but I'm just telling you what the results will be...explaining yourself doesn't change that fact one bit.

  • where do they make the spark plugs now? Mexico?

  • I don't know nothing but our country can't keep taking these body punches without going to the knee.

Don't know anyone who worked there but those old pictures look similar to the ones taken at the printing company I worked at till it closed and "in the day" hires so many gals as proof readers and opaquers and there were so many guys running presses and in the plate room and on the linotypes. I can relate to what I see here. I bet plenty more can too.

  • SHARE HOLDER LOST IN THE LONG RUN

  • i still cant belive it's gone... so crazy, i still havent been back to flint sice delphi has been torn down. it's so sad, you keep thinking it cant get any worse in flint but then it does......i love and hate flint sooo much

  • How sad.

  • GM has "scorched earth" this facility. Maybe it could've been refitted for manufacturing different product. Clearly, "scorched earth" was GM's intent all along: leave nothing of value to the enemy: a spiteful act. GM leadership who took these jobs to Mexico ought to lose their citizenship, have to re-apply & B rejected for US citizenship. Tariff the shit out of all imports, esp Hummer.

  • It makes me so angry that companies are not only allowed, but encouraged to do whats best for "the share holders" at the expense of the community at large. these are peoples lives and no one seems to care.

  • Like radio host Micheal Savage likes to say.

"I'll never understand why the union never picketed the white house etc. to have high tariff put on those foreign model cars."

  • What I don't understand is why the union endorsed the democratic presidential candidates over the last 30 some years when all of them have stood for just about everything the union was against mainly keeping the trade policies we had in effect and then wanting to open up our market to other countries so they could take market share away from the American auto industry too. They could have and should have opened the way for a third party which is desperately what this country needs.

  • I couldn't agree more. Those Dems cared more about who had the word Dem next to their name rather than doing what was and would be "RIGHT" for themselves and the country.

  • I agree completely...NAFTA destroyed most Tier 1 suppliers - see Pres Clinton, but for some reason the UAW and other unions still join hand/hand with Democrats. I really do not understand

  • @srxellis The Republican Congress wrote that Garbage, but yes Mr. Clinton signed it.

  • Really eerie going by there at night now and seeing the moon reflect off what used to be the floor.

  • How sad, RIP FLINT MICHIGAN
