It's no bs, that a separate LAN card can off-load your CPU. A card, which costs 23$. And we are talking about REAL good cards for that price. So yeah. It's true that a card may help, but the killer is just a waste of money. A huge waste.
Another thing this card is useful for, is if you like to download things like movies, games, and music but still want to play a game. It will by far better handle downloading tons of stuff and online gaming then your average nic could.It's like graphics. If you have on board graphics, and buy a card that is just as strong as the on board graphics, the separate card will still out perform the onboard because it's taking the stress off the cpu.
This card does work. People with higher end cpu's most likely won't really notice a difference. But. This card is mainly for use when you play games that have alot of players or changes that stay in the game. If you really want to test it out, get trackmania and you will see it work it's magic. Trackmania has hundreds of racers per track. With my normal nic Fully loaded tracks would jitter like no tomorrow. With this nic, runs fine.

When windows network stack is full, the CPU is halt to prevent loss of data. This card handles the load right on itself, avoiding the mini shattering, hence increases FPS. IMO it isn't about better FPS, but smoother pictures. This chip clearly showed that the mini shattering was eliminated.
this card is the best if u have a 10 Mpb connection or more like 15 extrema it helps u get about 3/4 of it or 5/4 that means u can get alot more out of what u dont have
This is like one of those bullshit washing powder adverts on TV. Whether the killer works or not (and im not saying it doesn't work), this vid is so crap. The first looks like its playing on a chinese server thousands of miles away from the user (those 700+ ping servers the we all avoid), and the second looks like its using a LAN. This video has really over egged the pudding, a less extreme example would have been better at convincing the would be consumer.

Right, I've read some stuff about the killer nic and I understand that the small proc on the card does a good job with handling network stuff and their drivers are bypassing the windows stack. What I know about the nvidia network adapters is that they're doing some TCP de-, encoding and checksumming to offload the cpu. But honestly, when you've got a highend system, why do you want 20fps more on top of like 200fps. And I don't think anyone here will notice a response time improvement of 5ms :P
With on board networking, your CPU taking the task of processing them.
With the networking card it has its own processor so it takes the task of processing those packets, in thus allowing the CPU more utilization for the game, and better frames, along with ping.

Believe what you want. but i picked up one of these cards a few months ago. im a counter strike/WOW player and i got an improvement.
the games run alot smoother. on counter strike source, before i bought the killer i had laggy/choppy demos(when you record yourself play for leagues such as cal) but now, they are really smooth, I also was at 70~90 ms on WOW, Im now at 60~70.Killer also has some new features such as killer bandwith control that lets you give more speed to your games.

What you have to realize is that the windows network stack can cause FPS lag when it stops to deal with incoming network traffic (it pauses the game frame loop)
Killer bypasses the windows network stack; thus it can relieve even some "fps lag" not just "internet lag"

From performance charts I've seen, the improvement seems to be extremely moderate. Probably should spend the money upgrading your Vid Card/Memory/CPU. If they are all tip top, and you want to blow some more money, THEN pick this up.

The video was captured using an analog video camera input. This kind of Lag can happen in War Rock (and did in this example). (anybody who plays war-rock knows that this can happen.) if you want a smaller example, click on the Lag Demo 2 (gun lag) which is less harsh lag, but still shows the difference.
Lag has a tendency to pop up at odd times. If, for example, you do BitTorrent, or in-game VOICE CHAT, you probably are going to have Lag Spikes even on the best computer. Killer fully offloads BitTorrent and Voice!!!! (thus those things do not impact lag any more) See the video at right (FNA Torrent by Bigfoot)

If you did have a Killer, you may not have learned how to use it.
You are not getting the whole truth here. This card 'may' only improve the speed of your game over LOCAL network games if all the client PCs are connected to the same router & there is no internet connecion involved. When playing online, there could be around 15 routers between your computer and the server that you are connecting to. Each of these routers has a NIC & this product has no effect on their performance. Look for the Windows command line program 'tracert' to see this for yourself. :)

Killer NIC does not claim to end Lag. only to smooth the effects of Lag. The reviews say it works great, and it does 'smooth the effect'. The Killer site explain that it bypasses windows and does not improve your ISP nor the server (unless the server is running a Killer).
Killer even sponsors a tool (called LagMeter) which measures Lag and shows the Server + Network as a major cause...
Killer does smooth out the game though when the server + network are causing lag.

You don't make much sense. If the game lagged 100% of the time, no one would play.

What they are trying to show is less lag spikes and a smoother overall play experience with a killer than without.
That doesn't mean the game can't be played without it, simply that it plays better, with it. Which is something even K2 makes note of on their website under the hardware requirements.

the videos are real, nothing faked. they are the exact same machine, first without killer than with one to show the theoretical potential

borsty you just dont get it, checksum offloading is only a very tiny part of networking, and killer does checksum + the other things
its not an issue of having enough CPU power, its an issue with how windows itself is designed

Lag has a tendency to pop up at odd times. If, for example, you do BitTorrent, or in-game VOICE CHAT, you probably are going to have Lag Spikes even on the best computer. Killer fully offloads BitTorrent and Voice!!!! (thus those things do not impact lag any more) See the video at right (FNA Torrent by Bigfoot)

This is a scam, DON'T buy it. I wasted my money on it, and the only latency it improved was the lag between me and the store I returned it to.
I am sure this comment will be deleted. Same reason why they only quote positive feedback out of thousands of people.

I won't delete you're post, i like you. really. I don't think you bought a Killer, but I still like the attitude!
I'm skeptical myself (my best friend is president of the National Skeptics Society, seriously!)
but, having a card that can fully offload BitTorrent AND Voice Chat in-game... with 0% CPU load... that works man. (Check out the FNA BitTorrent video to right).
If you did have a Killer, you may not have learned how to use it.
You may want to check it out again!

You are not getting the whole truth here. This card 'may' only improve the speed of your game over LOCAL network games if all the client PCs are connected to the same router & there is no internet connecion involved. When playing online, there could be around 15 routers between your computer and the server that you are connecting to. Each of these routers has a NIC & this product has no effect on their performance. Look for the Windows command line program 'tracert' to see this for yourself. :)

Ah, I see. This was not particularly clear in the sales blurb. Surely such subtle improvements could just as easily be achieved by an average gamer by simply weeding out some of the background processes that this device would otherwise counteract? By turning off many of my unrequired Windows Services, I made my own PC significantly better across the board. Improvements in all, from startup time to general performace.

However, if you read Killer owners comments, being able to 100% offload BitTorrent, Voice Chat, Firewall, + more adds up!

i just bought this card at frys $200,man it improved my WOW a lot,i was almost going to build a new pc to reduce the lag,but this card solved problem.i just cannot beileve i would ever spent 200 for a network card.but it works.

There is no way to "Stop the Lag"... (sorry)
KillerNIC dot com is a product that has been reviewed by many (PC Gamer, etc.) and does "smooth out the effects" of Lag (and reduces Latency by a bit)...
It really is one of the only things you can do...
Some other things include:
defrag your HD
get a better ISP
try a gaming router
try servers closer to you (lower ping)
and more

What? A different network card will not improve "lag" because even the ordinary one is really really fast. From my experience network issues are caused by many factors and the network card has rarely anything to do with them.
However if anyone belives in the Killer NIC, contact me and I will sell you a lag improving hat.
Now seriously, its just pathetic how people can try to make money off this.

Killer NIC does not claim to end Lag. only to smooth the effects of Lag. The reviews say it works great, and it does 'smooth the effect'. The Killer site explain that it bypasses windows and does not improve your ISP nor the server (unless the server is running a Killer).
Killer even sponsors a tool (called LagMeter) which measures Lag and shows the Server + Network as a major cause...
Killer does smooth out the game though when the server + network are causing lag.
Educate.

I do know (and hardocp, pc gamer magazine, and more) have shown... that it does smooth gameplay and help with less lag&latency.
is it worth $249? up to the buyer.. but some folks think so.
also there is a $179 version if you want to try it.

I mean the video, it's forged.
I've read some reviews, one has figures which claim that it reduces latency but they also say the test was hasty, with a possibility of error.
The second one had numbers which showed no measurable improvement, but the reviewer stated that it felt smoother.
Inconclusive, but the main thing is the video is still forged.

Scam hardware just like AGEIA PHYSX LOL, U have just used an server that really really lags, then u use an server that doesnt lag, if it the same, u have faked it really good, their is no such big improvements.. lag often depends of that the server u connect to cant send enought amount of data which give u the data too late and u get the lag effect.. how can u make the server with a card maybe miles away send more data? lol

You don't make much sense. If the game lagged 100% of the time, no one would play.
But don't act like there aren't a lot of lag spikes in war rock or people that get that gun lag effect.
What they are trying to show is less lag spikes and a smoother overall play experience with a killer than without.
That doesn't mean the game can't be played without it, simply that it plays better, with it. Which is something even K2 makes note of on their website under the hardware requirements.

it's a 1 min clip as a sample, not a comprehensive study. go read some of the reviews if you want that
