.....Of course it sounds like an overtone...there are two drum corps playing...since when have you played a double C clearly over 200 some-odd other people?
@genesis344 a double G not quite. There have only been a few trumpet players to go through DCI period that can play a double G above double C and even that would be a little hard for these guys after playing alot for a while. was definitely a double C not a double G
Of course low brass owns all! Im a freshman at my high school band and were playing this show and were going to BOA: Atlanta and Grand Nats. im so psyched! (T-Bone and Baritone player here)
that is beautiful, especially in the georgia dome. i love to march and watch other bands in it because of all of the resonance and reverb. same with the rca dome. hopefully the new dome will be just as good.
no...indy is getting a new one, to replace the RCA dome. the new one is also the new home of the Drum Corps International National Champianship for the next ten years
no indy is getting a new dome the colts are getting a new stadium instead of the RCA dome, its called Lucas Oil Stadium, thats where BOA: Grand Nationals are gonna be this year
Yes! I hated it when corps were too lazy to started playing themselves off the field to a portion of their show. It was usually too fast a tempo for them to march off the field to, and it got really sloppy looking. The corps anthems made it much more special.
They don't do retreat the same way anymore. Instead they select two corps' to play this arrangement and then one corps does an encore performance. They started doing this in 2005 because the same three corps' were having to stay late for ever single show that they won. So now, everything is pre-planned
I bet no one has ever, ever heard a corps complain about having to stay and do the victory concert. The staff and boosters maybe, but they always enjoyed the victories too, just staying up late for them was harder (those old geezers you know!)
The actual playing of the encore is cool; but the one thing we frown upon is that it takes up so much more time that you could spend driving to the next show site, but more importantly, time that you could spend sleeping on a flat surface. But who am I to complain...sleep is over-rated in drum corps, right?
i was talking to some of my friends on tour and they said no one likes the champions fanfare. They played an encore with BD they said BD just sang and told jokes. No one likes the change.

They need to bring this back. Not to sound unAmerican, but this destroys America the beautiful and Battle Hymn of the Republic.

I was deciding whether that was an overtone or not. And if it wasn't an overtone it was higher than a GG.
genesis344 2 years ago
I can hear a dubba C for sure. Maybe a little much for an overtone.

Yeah it sucked that there was no encore. I assume cause of the rain delay, but who cares? Nobody cared that it was late.
