  • Isn't it rather repetitive, simply a string of riff and melodies in 11/4? @william77s, how is it complex and not drearily predictable? Why is everything repeated and not developed? @zlotrov, ECM have been producing empty music like this for decades. Smooth technique but it goes nowhere beyond inducing anaesthetic meditation? Is Chopin's rich message so far from today's Polish "jazz" musicians?

  • @jazztitch First of all despite being a huge ECM fan I can see where you're coming from- it's certainly not for everyone. What you call empty can be called minimalistic. But you cannot deny their aesthetic simply as empty.

About this song- It is NOT typical to their other work and to common ECM stuff. It's more upbeat, and yes, repetitive. They seemed to have borrowed a page from Avishai Cohen...?

  • @jazztitch You can disagree with everyone´s opinion about their joy to this group, but you need to respect their point of view.

    By the way... it´s 11/8.

  • I agree with the others.

  • Wow amazingly complex and beautiful :)
