Unfortunately, NBC forces all artists to lip sync on the parade due to the massive logistics of co-ordinating microphone feeds from a moving float - Avril was among many lip syncing gaffes that day... and hers wasn't even the worst. Did you see Shelby Lynne's performance? They didn't even give her a microphone!

@squirrelavengerr31 Running Electricity on moving floats and such is not new tech, it's very old, and Disney has been doing it for AGES, hence their electric light parade, complete with music! This is not the reason Macy's makes them lip synch-it is because of the length of the parade and the cold weather, and they always want things to sound as perfect as possible for the viewers at home and on the streets, even though it looks horrendous.

I honestly doubt she in lip syncing here, because it's way different from the CD, her voice, and she sings "yeah" instead of "damn". Even if it is synct, this is the FIRST time she's ever done such a thing. I've seen every single performance of AVril Lavigne on TV since 2002, and she has never lipsynced ONCE, so why would she start now?

Actually, if I was a fan, I would rather her lip sync because has to and see her live, than not get to see her at all. @zell1243 ..and that's why she came out with a stripped down/acoustic album that her label didn't even want to release because it wasn't radio friendly.. her label wanted her to release a dance/urban album but she battled to release goodbye lullaby as a stripped down/personal album. i don't know if you've listened to any of it besides the singles (her label wanted a few upbeat songs so the album would sell - after all, they wanted an urban album).. it's amazing.

@lukeriotx I was mainly speaking of "The Best Damn Thing" album, which was honestly really really cheap. The last one is pretty good (not as good as the first 2 albums though). Moreover, I'm not only talking about the music. The music videos of "What the Hell" is a commercial for her brands of clothes and fragrance. Btw, why would she even need to create such brands if she's not that interested in earning money ? Even if the music is pretty good again, her behaviour is still marketing oriented
