Nope... Only thing that makes apple different from pc:s is unique design and operating system. Otherwise they are just overpriced pc:s. If I had for example 2000€ I would rather spend about 700-800€ on a good pc parts rather than buying overpriced mac. I do agree that OS is lovely and design is awesome but when I am able to get more performance with less money, I am going for it. And Windows 7 is rather good OS actually.
You can, but in after effects, you have to render with RAM, so when you made a project and you want to see how it looks, you have to render it. And on Windows after a while, your max RAM you can use goes down and down, so when you render it, you have to wait a little bit. Its much more Different on Imac, because it doest use that much RAM, an Imac is 3 times faster than a normal Windows PC.

Sure Macs have a higher price, but I'm sure people are okay with paying that, because their designs are top notch. metal over plastic any day for me. @AiruhnG my computer case is also metal and it has blue lights on it so im gonna say pcs have better design. it also has a blu ray player and its a $1000 computer. pcs have a lot more to customize and on a price to performance ratio is a way better.

All my graphic design and movie editing friends swear by the mac and would not change back to windows. Plus everyone I know that has changed to a Mac loved it and never went back to windows. @mexicanmanjohn There is one thing I'll say about Mac which is better for me than a PC, and that is the cost of the OS upgrades. If someone has a 2002 G4 800 iBook they can still install and run OS X on it. It will be slower but it will run. I don't know of any 2002 windows laptop that can run Windows 7 on it. Plus the price of a new a OS for Mac is about $30 compared to the $200 + windows 7 OS someone would pay in the store. If you add up the cost Mac comes out to be cheaper.

To me the Mac OS just seemed easier to work with rather than windows 95. Since then I always preferred Macs over PCs, but I still own both.I am not a computer guy that likes to open them up to see how they work. I don't play games either. I just use them for the internet and to get work done. To me apple just seems simple

Mac is for people who either use it for studio recording or people who are simply too lazy to go linux. Virtually everyone I know who bought macs did so just because they didn't want the hazzle of dealing with the security holes and all the malware for Windows. I've asked them all why they simply just didn't install an easy-to-use and free linux bundle on their old PC instead of spending a gross amount of money on an overprized novelty computer.
@dude8971 You can get pretty much anything working under Linux. Either there actually is a program or suite developed directly for it, or you can run windows programs under wine for instance. For your standard home computer I see no reason to go Mac over Linux. It's only when you have special needs in mind that you need to get picky about hardware and OS.
I've run Red Hat and later on Ubuntu on all my laptops since 2001, but on my gaming rig I have no choice but to run windows.

@mexicanmanjohn There is one thing I'll say about Mac which is better for me than a PC, and that is the cost of the OS upgrades. If someone has a 2002 G4 800 iBook they can still install and run OS X on it. It will be slower but it will run. I don't know of any 2002 windows laptop that can run Windows 7 on it. Plus the price of a new a OS for Mac is about $30 compared to the $200 + windows 7 OS someone would pay in the store. If you add up the cost Mac comes out to be cheaper.

@mexicanmanjohn Most computer users are not computer savoy, and are not willing to look for cheaper ways to safe guard their computer. McAfee reported $628million in revenue. That means people still buy yearly anti-virus protection. Mac users don't need such added costs. So if a typical PC user adds up the extra costs, owning a Mac might come out to be around the same, and ifthe Mac user keeps the machine longer the cheaper it will be since the OS upgrade is the fraction of the cost to Windows.

Macs have always been for the artist. Where as Windows have been for the nerds and business people. They are both great and they both have their markets.

@mexicanmanjohn I'm 29 years old and growing up I hated that there was really only one real option in the form of a computer that I knew about which was windows. To me the Mac OS just seemed easier to work with rather than windows 95. Since then I always preferred Macs over PCs, but I still own both.I am not a computer guy that likes to open them up to see how they work. I don't play games either. I just use them for the internet and to get work done. To me apple just seems simple

The processor is of a previous generation, the RAM is SLOW ddr3 (normal speeds are 1066, 1333, 1600), the hdd is average but the monitor is big.

Mac is for people who either use it for studio recording or people who are simply too lazy to go linux. Virtually everyone I know who bought macs did so just because they didn't want the hazzle of dealing with the security holes and all the malware for Windows. I've asked them all why they simply just didn't install an easy-to-use and free linux bundle on their old PC instead of spending a gross amount of money on an overprized novelty computer.
As for gaming though, you're stuck with windows.

@dude8971 You can get pretty much anything working under Linux. Either there actually is a program or suite developed directly for it, or you can run windows programs under wine for instance. For your standard home computer I see no reason to go Mac over Linux. It's only when you have special needs in mind that you need to get picky about hardware and OS.
I've run Red Hat and later on Ubuntu on all my laptops since 2001, but on my gaming rig I have no choice but to run windows.

@AMC22227 I do agree Macs are nice and this one looks great because it is on a 25 inch screen. Atari 2600 would look good on that screen. However never having to buy a new Mac ever again is wrong. You will have to buy a new to upgrade a Mac. Yes you can upgrade RAM, and ... oh yeah thats it.
