hahaha I lolled so hard at david's story bout the tribe "I walked towards this screaming hord of men, and I stuck out my hand and said 'good afternoon' " xD hahahaha with the brittish accent n that, hilarious.
Planet Earth is easily the greatest Natural documentary ever made. i'm putting a downer on it but all he did was add that gerougous voice of his on it... he didn't make it so to speak
dude, he didnt sit at home on the sofa, watch the vid and put his voice to it, he's actually been out there in the harshest of environments hes been behind the camera's and infront of them, and without his knowledge that he has shared with us, conservation and animal protection wouldnt be at the level its at today, so research the amount of effort and time he has put into his career before you speak
His pure respect and love towards all the animlas and nature is so moving. He seems as though he is the fater to/of all the animals.
He will smile at animals as if they are his own childrens. He doen't treat down becuase he knows that we are all precious, human, animlas, so on. I think that's what we need to be as well if we want to save the earth.
Having been very fortunate to have met this great man several times I have to tell you all what you see on TV is the real man. No airs and graces or celebrity ego just a very humble and wise man, he's a example to us all. Sir David if I had the power to grant immortality to one man, the gift would be rightly yours. Thank you for your inspiration and passion.
Just a wonderful, utterly watchable individual. He is this universal, incredibly benevolent father figure who seems to be able bridge the gap between humans and the natural world so effortlessly. If only there were more like him.
Sir David is one of the greatest Briton's ever, and one of the most genuinely modest men I have ever seen in front of a camera. He alone got me interested in the world's wildlife - I only wish I could have seen David with his good friend ( and his fan ) Steve Irwin together in front of the same camera. At least we know the respect they had 4 each other. He is also the finest ambassador for his country also with his work, unlike many famous people. My hero too - Sir David Attenborough.
What he did in the trials of life series was like no nature videos I had ever seen. He taught me things no one else had. He also has such a distinctive and pleasing voice.
As much as I can hate youtube at times because of the constant bickering and negative comments made I am glad to see at least one video where the consensus is basically unanimous. And no one deserves this respect as much as Attenborough.
Its such a Marvel to watch & hear the divine voice of Sir David he is an extraordinary Homo-sapien alive today...How relentless he's been throughout the last 50 or so years in bring us closer to the Natural World is astounding...He 's the most travelled man on the face of this planet..I hope he stays in the best of Health in the years to come i'd love to meet the Legend some day....He's my Hero for Life
Third time starting this comment. I can't find the words. I've never seen such fabulous work: Warmhearted, intelligent, humane, beautifully done, simply beautiful. It's as good as it gets, and he's as good as people ever get.
The first 35 seconds of this clip show how, once, there were English gentlemen on this planet. What a wonderful species they were. Also, I read the comments here and I doubt, anywhere on YouTube, there is another clip that evokes such unanimous opinion. What an amazing man.
Well deserved is a complete understatement. I have been bought up watching his brilliant documentaries he is such an inspiration. I've just started university studying zoology, and it is his beautiful documentaries which helped me realise why I love this subject so much...
David Attenborough is the sole inspiration for me to study zoology, and I am so grateful to him for helping me realise that I want to work in conservation and wild animals... Thank you Sir David!!
personally i dont think a lifetime achievement award is enough!!!! This man has made some of the world's greatest programmes and has shown us things we that hollywood couldn't produce all I can say is thankyou sir attenborough you are a legend
never has there been someone who deserves a lifetime achievement award more. he is an institution in the UK, influenced and inspired so many people and enriched the lifes of possibly everyone to ever watch his shows.
there is no-one in this world i idolise more, ad i only wish i could see just a fraction of the things this man has
Growing up in Michigan in the '70s and 80's I recall watching many an episode of National Geographic, Jacques Cousteau, and Mutual of Ohmaha's Wild Kingdom. But why didn't we have Attenborough? Was he ever known in the States like those I've mentioned?
A charismatic knowledgeable man whose contribution to our curiosity about the animal world has been very instructive. We're much richer for his constant presence in our homes - generations should be thankful to him :-) And thanks to you for posting this video!
It's terribly difficult, isn't it :) From a young child, I was mesmerised by his documentaries and his passion, respect and understanding of the natural world. A wonderful, wonderful man!
He leaves me awestruck every time. Here's to him, Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking and all these wonderful minds that grace and have graced this small, yet beautiful home we call Earth. Cheers! :)
"Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for Earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves but also to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring." - Carl Sagan
Sir David Attenborough has changed my life so much, I used to be almost oblivious to the worlds Animals but thanks to the Blue Whale footage he got, I've changed, theres nothing more I'd like to do then protect a species (What ever species it is).
David Attenborough deserves much more then a knighthood, he is a gentlemen and deserves this award beyond belief, every DVD I have of his is played at least once a month and he is my hero.
David is an inspiration.. ive been hooked on buying his series, now i got all of them.. i hear he is making one now, but it seems it will be his last, as i read he is retiring, but we'll see how it'll turn out.. i will miss him... but be extremely thankful for his amazing work, it makes my heart warm up to see this... it's exactly what i want for him.. for him to receive this type of honoring... and what makes me really amazed.. is that steve was inspired by him! i love that...
I think the way he has been described in these comments has been right on target. Brilliant, an icon, genius, a true inspiration, and a legend. David Attenborough deserved this award and he deserves many more, and I just hope that people heed his message.
