This is like watching two people talking on a park bench. I am guessing Ford lent you this car so you'd give it some sort of review, but instead you just drove around the peninsula talking about vintage Taurus models. It's a bit of a waste of time.
Look, every new car drives, smells, and looks good. Unfortunately for the Taurus, its reputation precedes it. Sure..it sold millions and was relatively reliable and trouble free. However it has been surpassed by the likes of Accords and Camrys in styling, reliability and resale value.
The best indicator of a cars quality is its resale value. A Japanse brand will get you top dollar at a dealer. A GM or Ford product will get you next to nothing relative to the foreign nameplates.
This guy's an asshole. The 3rd gen Taurus instrument panel was extremely ergonomic. There were a ton of positives of that Taurus. Why should we care about his fucked up opinions?
I had a 1997 Ford Taurus SHO and I loved that car. It looked good back in the day and it still looks good now. I even added some accessories to it and it looked awesome! I love the new style of the Taurus. I just can't wait until the new SHO comes out! That will be my next car.
Thats not right angel...The new ford products have gotton higher quality ratings then toyota and other import brands...I think ford is on the fast track to succeses again
Dont buy Ford when you can buy quality and much better car like a Toyota or Honda thats the best resale is strong and better go to cosumer report they rate high!!
i have a 1998 sable. we had it since 1999 and in never had any problems. i use to be able to stand up in that car and my head wouldnt touch the roof. good car , still runs great
WTF... He said that the greenhouse reminds him of the old Taurus and that the dashboard is pretty retro-looking. But the 08 Taurus in nothing more than a facelifted FiveHundred.
The Gen3 Taurus (96-99) had a Cd of 0.3. To get the Gen6 Taurus down to a Cd of 0.23, it'll have to look remarkably similar to the Gen3 Taurus. The 96 Taurus also had a much stiffer monocoque and met more stringent safety regulations. Del Coates needs to learn more about "design" if he equates the Prius to the VW Beetle and the Model T. He should also read the book "Car: A Drama of the American WorkPlace" by Mary Walton. It documents the design and engineering that went into the 96 Taurus.
so I assume this move by Ford is them abandoning their move to streamline all their vehicle names into names that started with "F" (Fusion, Five Hundred, Freestyle, F150, Focus) I suppose that didn't quite workout as well as they had hoped. Part of me is excited they brought back th Taurus, its such a recognizable name, I had a 92 myself, however, mine was a "true ford" ... a "fix or repair daily"
Why do people keep bringing up the 500? The 500 was going to be the next Taurus but Ford decided that they needed a new name so the picked 500. This is a true Taurus. In any case wait until 2010 when it is fully redesigned.
i think the 500-derived Taurus looks great for a big sedan. But it has nothing in common with the 80's Taurus, it is MUCH larger and heavier. it should've been named the Crown Vic. The Fusion is the true successor to the first Taurus. they are much closer in size and specs.
I was expecting that you mentioned Volvo, that's why the safety ratings are so good, also what about this is just a rebadged five hundred, I enjoyed the video though, it was a very interesting analysis of a very boring car.

I thought the analysis would address the '08 Taurus, not Gen 1-4. Too much babbling and not enough content on the subject.

Waste of 16 minutes. No true test drive. Just wanted to talk about aerodynamics/design of present/future generations of cars. Blah, blah, blah.

Yeah I thought He would talk about the car,
Not aerodynamics >_<

My 95 has treated me OK which is the year when they were finished with all the improvments. I want a 08 I think it will be worth it.

It's not a rebadged 500. There are a lot of new features and more then 60 improvments over the 500.
