i was very impressed by the graphical apperance of this game as a young kid seeing this in the arcades. it's a very average game but there is something about the looks i like. they should have made a classic double dragon game with these graphics sort of similar to sengoku

It may be a B-list fighter on the Neo Geo (hardly an insult); but it's still a damn cool game. I consider this one just as much a redemption for Double Dragon V as the NES Double Dragon 3 was for it's abominable arcade (and Genesis) counterpart. It's admittedly sad Technos had to make up for mistakes other people made with their series *twice*, though.

In some ways I hated the Street Fighter 2 era because it saw the end of the fun side-scroll beat-em-ups. Every beat-up HAD to be a SF2 clone and not even Double Dragon, TMNTs or even Golden Axe was safe from the usual "Enter the Dragon" tournament bullshit.

I know what you mean but on the other hand most side scroll beat em ups were the same thing. The worst part was that you had an Enemy that has 1000 clones throughout the entire game. And several enemy types mostly did the same thing. There was really not much variety and the storys sucked aswell. To be true side scrollers looked alike aswell. The Enemys, movements & stages in DD, Final fight, streets of rage & co. really look similiar aswell.

That is a fair point. Its just a shame that the introduction of a new genre can kill off an old one.

Saying that, a lot of gamers moan about the games today, but its nice to see once-dead genres making a come back. That Scott Pilgrim side-scroller was pretty good fun! ^_^

Anyway the gameplay is great, balanced, it even has double jump so there are many many ways to take your opponent by suprise. Even the charges are great rarely a game at the time had such stuff and specially not that great. While Billy and Jimmy have one charge + transformation, others have 2 charges so the game gets dinamic and is also fun.
