  • I think I just came.

  • Does anyone else get the feeling they could fall asleep to her voice? Definately not my genre, but I honestly like this.

  • A great song about getting the blue balls!!! Ouch, I hate em'!

  • Old Navy commercial, yeah? :)

  • 21st century Billy Holliday... great voice

  • Don't see the appeal frankly. Seems she is singing in a safe 2nd person " you do this feeble thing, that feeble thing, she overthrows you with her beauty and prowess etc, etc" . Given, that is a form typical of early lounge style but "little bits of beauty everywhere" seems like bad writing, meaningless and vague. Ok, Ok, if it's art and you like it, who I am to opinionate it away. I'll go listen to Ray LaMontagne, Neko Case, or Cocorosie and enjoy myself. Just wanted to mix the fan fest some.

  • @woolfl hey not to be a dick, but these aren't her lyrics, I don't know if you explored here, but she DOES have soul

  • @woolfl

2nd person - cos Leonard Cohen wrote the song....imagine HIM singing it --- there 'ya go......haha =0) those crazy cover songs

  • @woolfl Too bad to be you. Try researching some blues history and find yourself a veritable treasure trove of female vocalists many with this very style. She is one of many fine singers in this genre. Tell me more about Neko but let me plug a vein first to get in the mood. In other words , don't open your pie hole if you don't know shit, youngster.

  • That's some easy listenin'

  • her voice feels good in my ears :)

  • I love this song. A little sound of Billie Holiday in her delivery.

  • wonderful, her voice is just wonderful

  • classic sound, remnants of Billie Holiday.. sultry..and beautiful.

  • Really jazzy and classy. I like.

  • Anjani made the original version of this song, I proffered hers but that is just my opinion

  • @Rustyizcool:

anjani???? you aren't right.... the original is written by leonard cohen, the - for me! - greatest singer and writer! listen to his golden voice and forget all.....

  • What a sensual song---beautiful. Circe

  • she must be french because madeleine is my french name in french class and her last name is obvious !

  • despite her name, she is american, born in athens, georgia. as we are a nation of immigrants, such things do happen. what is interesting is that she has a;sp spent years and years in france, so in way she must have drank back her heritage as she has progressed through the years. but of course, none of these facts really matters. she has a beautiful transcending voice, and what do aritificial national boundaries matter when we are all affected by such a human voice : )

  • wow i had no idea ...i should research thanks :D

  • @xxmetioqurexx The French were the first Europeans to invade Louisiana, and tens of thousands of Acadians (french from Nova Scotia), were brutally evicted by English and moved down to New Orleans etc., now their ancestors are called "Cajuns".

Lot's of French names in the US. She did move to Paris France for 6 years. She put out a first successful album, but lived on the street busking and playing for years after before making more albums. Cool lady.
