  • @bluegrasserred1 I am so amazed to find such a person as yourself who feels you must indulge in negative attitude and have all the time to spend making your sad little comments as if we are too stupid to already know all about your bull. I feel your a fucking douce and consider this conversation complete..end of subject Goodbye

  • The Beats actually thought they came too late. The fact that they were the next big thing kinda shocked them.

  • This was all taken the wrong way, it is BS, they are still popular in the US. except for a small minority. Anyway we all love their music.

  • John said "God is a concept by which we measure our pain."

  • @theJaydog but now that he is dead. He knows better. The beatles are my fav band of alll time...

i got made fun of in school because of it. But just because they could write, sing, and perform the best songs of alll time, doesnt make them All Knowing.

  • God is not real.

  • it's a fact unles some one can make him appear in front of me ._.

  • @filmrock and since i cant see you(something blocking my sight) and only have your words (like the Bible)

I say that you dont exist!

  • D: should have been there! but noooo i was born later xp And yes Chicago is amazing... my home! xD

  • Religion.... Such a dumb, but amusing concept/

  • Who the Fk is Jesus?

    '

  • the people who fucked up all those albums must feel like total idiots right now

  • Can you imagine how much money was wasted in collectible albums and all. Geez Luckily I have all mine saved for the future kids to hear.

  • cool

  • I wonder how many of those gullible kids are kicking themselves after realising how much money original Beatles memorabilia fetches these days? LOL- hehehe!!!

  • Still bigger god

  • @BS1965able For the time being.

  • @crapple009 meant they are still bigger than god hahaha

  • @BS1965able Yes, for the time being.

  • i live in south Carolina and the Beatles are my favorite band! just saying there are southern people that love the Beatles

  • @Onyxknight20 My apologies if I was stereotyping.

  • Those religious Jesus freaks in the South were/are a bunch of morons. You know what? John Lennon WAS better than Jesus- so, there!

  • @london2z The Beatles were there to save us from boredom.

  • @london2z Seconded.

  • @london2z Well said. We are ALL bigger than that tripe.

  • @london2z Yes, he was. Not to mention the fact that John Lennon actually existed and "Jesus" probably didn't.

  • I agree

  • @london2z John Winston Lennon existed.. Jesus did not.

  • @silat13 there is more historic evidence to PROVE that Jesus existed than there is Abe lincoln!!

    Jesus didnt? !? ! ?

I hate the catholic church but the existance of the man is well known throuhout Europe!

deny all u want... Satan loves you.

  • @london2z Well, at least he was real....and I met him !

  • @london2z your comment is sad, rediculous, and even John would shut u up.

respect for others is one thing he stood for.

u dont have to agree you just have to love....

and Jesus died for you, John sang for you.

u r an arrogant ass, with no peace in you. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!

  • Kind of funny that the country got upset that John said the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. Nowadays if the Beatles were to say that they'd be applauded. The world seems to hate Jesus and Christianity. By the way, John was right. The Beatles WERE more popular than Jesus !

  • @spiderdragon1969 I remember this but it didn't change my views of the Beatles at all. I mean church was all about what "sinners' we all were every Sunday-who could "love" that? Not very 'exciting" at all. We are all going to "hell" if we don't act like we are walking on eggshells-how popular does that get? No one talked about "jesus" at school-it was Beatles! Not self hate shit in church!

  • CHICAGO+ Beatles = EPIC

  • CHICAGO!

  • The uproar started in the USA. Dickheads!!

  • @bermudaguy1 Catagorizing the entire USA as dickheads is pretty ignorant. You weren't listening...the uproar was started by a group of Southern religious fanatics, not the whole country.

  • @bze2nlz1 I'm so sorry, I know some really nice Americans....what I meant was IT WAS IN AMERICA that these "dickheads" resided and they were dickheads!!. I was quite young, but your press had a field day!!

    Hope that helps!

  • @bermudaguy1 Thanks for explaining :) Some teen magazine prints a portion of what John said (in a British magazine article months before) totally out of context. Southern conservative crazies spread the news and they all freaked out! At the time, most teens in the US were unaffected by all the hype...to us it was just a lot of BS!! :D

  • @bermudaguy1 That's why all the Beatles and all of Zeppelin chooses to live in the USA....maybe because this music is purely an American form....don't forget where Rock and The Beatles inspiration came from....the USA!!!

  • @mjw9363 No, it was taxes!

  • @mjw9363 McCartney lives in Scotland?

  • @bermudaguy1 Hey guy, how are you? I know what you meant the first time and you were right, that guy who wrote back to you didn't get what you meant. Your right, that shit did start here and the Dickheads were the idiots that were at the concerts. The Beatles couldn't even hear themselves think, never the less hear themselves sing.

  • @MrKite053 Well, people could be offended at my "short hand" but John was right....they were more popular than JC. I'm an atheist, so what do I care, but glad you get it!!

BTW, about 5/6 months b4 John Lennon was shot, he was in Bermuda....and I met him. Actually, he wanted a made to measure suit which I did for him. :)

  • I bet those dickheads burning those records are kicking themselves now haha

  • Comment removed

  • @2hamboigahs Same as South USA low IQ too.

  • Look, It's Liam and Noel Gallagher's father, Jack. So that's why...

  • The ones who broke and burnt the records must have lived or died in guilt....

  • Frikkin' Christians did their best against all this joy and freedom---still makes me ashamed. Long Live the Beatles!

  • I was at Comiski, and the usher took away my 8mm camera, but i kept the roll of film. great memory. we bought our tickets at Sears for about 2.50.

  • The Beatles did sound great and indeed could not hear themselves play with all the screaming. They were playing thru their tiny VOX 30 amplifiers in front of thousands of screaming fans. The fact they were even able to stay on beat is a minor miracle. Jagger talked to Lennon in 1969 and said (paraphrasing here) 'It's different now with a PA. You can actually hear yourself on stage. But of course, by this time for them, it was already too late.'

The Beatles quit touring for this reason.

  • THEY SOUND TERRIBLE.BACK THEN NO ONE CARED HOW GOOD THEY COULD/COULDN'T PLAY,LOL!!

  • 2:08 noob

  • 1:52 i think that guy diserves a nice punch in the face, and everybody else going along with it

  • Chicago has always been a hard-nosed town.

The uproar about John Lennon's remarks were much ado about nothing

  • @brianallancobb FYI, None of this had anything to do with Chicago. The uproar started in Birmingham, AL, if you were listening at all. Right wing conservative fundamentalists all over the country (mostly in the South) reacted to his remark about Jesus. John made his statement to the press here, because that was the first city on the '66 tour.

  • @bze2nlz1

Okay. Didn't mean anything bad about Chicago.

"Chiacgo is a hard-nosed town" is a compliment. Y'all have always been hardworking and always a real working town, unlike Tinsletown and Wall Street.

    Peace.

  • @brianallancobb Oh, sorry I wasn't sure! But you're right, John's statement was blown way out of proportion :)

  • Sept. 5, 1964. My 10th birthday! How cool!

  • @dougalmac54

    September 4, 1964, my tenth.

  • @dougalmac54 my 0.25th ;)

  • I just found out that my Pastor saw the Beatles in Chicago...I'm soooo jealous now! haha

  • @BeatlesMania2010 **fingers crossed** that Macca plays Wrigley Field (the 'other' Chicago ballpark) next month :)

  • @BeatlesMania2010 my superivsor and her friend saw them the first time they were on the Ed Sullivan Show I was quite envious

  • Chris, this is excellent footage!!! How long ago did you tape this? Very interesting...

  • @TheBacmaster Quite a few uploads (news clips/music specials) on both my channels were from things I taped during the 80's and 90's. I spent the latter half of 2009 doing vhs transfers :)

  • Another great Beatles Vid!! One of my favorite rock and roll bands since I was just a little kid. I've grown to really like all their songs and albums and rarities. Glad you enjoyed their '65 shows in Chicago. Must have been an awesome experience. Thanks Chris for posting yet another Gem. :)

    -Dean-

  • my mom went to the one at the chicago int. ampitheatre and said it was one of the most scariest experiences of her life. deafening noise and flimsy cardboard chairs that girls stood and jumped on. all angled on top of eachother waiting to fallover like a domino effect. she wasn't sure she'd make it out alive. no wonder my mom has hearing problems now! the only beatle she saw was paul...well, paul's head.

  • Great video!!!!

  • @TheKennyKennyKenny Thanks! :D

  • I was blessed to see these beautiful boys 9 times in person... anyone who did knows exactly what I mean.

As far as John's "Jesus" statement... look at this way... How many kids wait in line for Mass on Sunday?

    It is just that simple.

  • @JudeWest4868 Absolutely! That's exactly what John meant...nothing more. I saw the 8-20-65 afternoon show with my mom. Hope I never lose the memory of that day! And I HAVE heard of your book...will definitely be reading that asap :)

  • @JudeWest4868

That's right ! How stoopid could you be not to understand the simple idea that John Lennon said? And the next question: How long will stoopids influence the major phenomenons on this earth ? The Beatles and Maria Callas are just 2 examples of victims of stoopids. Are the stoopids so many that they can set and change important things ? In this case we are in big trouble.

  • @DrLux It's so embarrassing that a backwards, bunch of idiot hick dee-jays from Birmingham, Ala. could create such a load of nonsense with their stupid and small-minded emotionally mismanaged garbage. Doug Charles and Tommy Layton were a couple of prized idiots, and as Ringo later said, all the kids who destroyed their Beatle records and merchandise just went out and bought them again. And the Beatle boycott amounted to nothing. Southern hick morons give this country a bad name.

  • @dougalmac54 I know. My Canadian family members are always bashing Americans by saying they are ALL ignorant uncivilized rednecks. What fools. That's like saying all black people look the same or that all asians look the same. Really pisses me off and makes them look stupid.

  • This is really great stuff.. goes into 2 of my playlists.. The Beatles and The 60s!! Some really interesting history clips here.. well done Chris.. I heard about that statement John Lennon made.. now I have seen it. Thank-you !!

  • Excellent clip! That is absolutely right @ one sentence being taken out of context.

Reporters-some of them-were no different then than they' are now. How LUCKY you were to be at their concerts. They're my favorite European band and the one named for your 'Windy City(!)' is my other alltime favorite! ;-)

  • that was so great! i could watch that stuff for hours. and how lucky for you to have been there!! my mom got to see them in boston.

  • Yet another example of Horrible reporting and 1 sentence reported out of context without reporting all that was said.I would of fired the reporter. What John meant was people were paying more attention to them than God/they were more popular.EVERYONE missed the point.

  • Good stuff, thanks Chris! Ron

  • Thanks for your Beatles comments! I was at the first of two Aug. 20th, '65 shows...with my mom! (My very first concert, and to this day, the best.)
