China is only building their own military weapons in preparation to US military threats. We saw how China was "delibrately provoked" (in many ways) over the years and of course China had to response. Every country must have their own form of protection. The whole Middle Eastern episodes are good examples of what I meant.

The "carrier killer" is a ballistic missile. This means that it will launch into space, similar to an ICBM (except without the nuke), before it comes down at 90 degrees at, "possibly", Hyper-sonic velocities.
In other words there's little that can aim at it, and there's little that can detect, react, and track it fast enough to shoot it down before it hits.

This is laughable. Short of dropping a nuclear weapon of mass destruction on a carrier, you cannot "sink" a Nimitz-class carrier. The ship combined with its sheer size and damage control precautions would not allow the carrier to sink anymore than around 4 feet, even if you punched a hole below the water line. Do civilians really believe that the trick to destroying a carrier is just pack as much explosives into a missile as possible? The Navy spent too much money on their carriers for that.

SM-3 might be effictive agaianst 20 year old short ranged ballistic missiles that cant change trajectory, its not built to stop somthing like DF-21D.

The "carrier killer" is a ballistic missile. This means that it will launch into space, similar to an ICBM (except without the nuke), before it comes down at 90 degrees at, "possibly", Hyper-sonic velocities.
In other words there's little that can aim at it, and there's little that can detect, react, and track it fast enough to shoot it down before it hits.
A one shot one kill weapon, as long as the guidance and targeting is good.

This is laughable. Short of dropping a nuclear weapon of mass destruction on a carrier, you cannot "sink" a Nimitz-class carrier. The ship combined with its sheer size and damage control precautions would not allow the carrier to sink anymore than around 4 feet, even if you punched a hole below the water line. Do civilians really believe that the trick to destroying a carrier is just pack as much explosives into a missile as possible? The Navy spent too much money on their carriers for that.

@enchilada01 Provided something was able to slip past the battle group's radar, patrolling aircraft, and managed to launch a missile and got past the battle group's anti-missile defense, the carriers sea sparrow, ECSS, CIWS, and managed to penetrate the armored flight deck or the double walled hull, then almost every single compartment is water-tight within a carrier which prevents flooding and isolates the damage. You need to read before posting. The only long range missile is the 1500km range df-21d. U.s. cruisers and destroyers have tomawak missile with a 1600km range that can attack the df-21d site. Also u.s. air craft carriers can launch aircraft with missiles to attack the df-21d site. So the u.s. has ways to deal with the df-21

So u.s. ships can attack them far away. Also u.s. carriers have air craft with jsow-er missiles that can strike the df-21d sites. Aegis also can track it 1000km away

@N1cholas240 lol i dont know? the apogee of DF-21D is atleast 400km, and SM-3 flight celing is around 160km-200km. by the time DF-21D comes down to the height of SM-3 we are talking about hitting a mach12+ missile with MaRVs(means that it can change its path dramatically) with a SM-3 that travels at a much slower speed. SM-3 might be effictive agaianst 20 year old short ranged ballistic missiles that cant change trajectory, its not built to stop somthing like DF-21D.

Mach 5 faster then the df-21d. Also the df-21d will be tracked 1000km away and the sm-3 can fire 500km away. But this is last line of defense. The carriers will launch air craft with cruise missiles to attack the df-21d. Also the u.s. warships have cruise missiles that out range the df-21d.

DF-21D can start manuvoring when it pass its apogee which is out of range of SM-3 by the time DF-21D come down to the flight ceiling of SM-3 then it will be very very difficult to intercept, and with 100 DF-21D raining down on american aricraft carrier it will satruate any american defense system.

You and I dont know the apogee of the f-21d. But when it comes down to the ship the sm-3 should be able to fire at 160km and you can always fire many of the sm-3 to ensure the df-21d gets killed. Also you dont how many df-21ds will be built.

SM-3 and 2 are NOT designed to engage DF-21D with MaRV capabilities.its not impossible but almost since China will saturate Aegis with dozens of missiles launched at once.
