I'm from there. Flint was nice. The people did not 'fuck it up'. It was an economy based solely on auto related jobs. Those jobs started leaving in the mid 70's. The smart people left early, and the kids of the not so aware left in the 80's and 90's. I left in 81' two weeks after high school graduation. Unemployed people,Stores close, older people die, houses go unsold. 30 years later, zero tax base and presto, Flint, Michigan! The downside of pure capitalism coming to a town near you

I'm from outside Detroit, a suburb. And, i've been to Flint twice. The first time I was there I got lost in some neighborhood. I could not believe my eyes what I was seeing. Even in Detroit there are still some people living in houses. This fucking street I got lost on had empty houses on both sides. Like 20+ houses on both sides all boarded up and abandoned. The dude I was in the car with told me one of the houses was a drug house. He was from Detroit so he noticed something about the house.

then i lived on 701 stockdale and let me tell you its not a fun place to live at even in two years cause shootings keep happening by everyday down there and i lived close to where drug dealers and motorcycle riders and gang dealers lived at everyday and im proud to say that i live at least on the good side of flint which is burton cause at least we dont get more shootings everyday and it is actually nice and peaceful down there

omg I lived in a house around :39 seconds and it was involved in a driveby and god was with my family that night about 5 yrs ago I almost was shot to death getting up getting my babys bottle refilled lets just say im outta flint now in grand blanc thats for sure! Northend here is the most dangerous part of flint and it needs to be all tore down all the houses are roach infested and gross. How anyone even poor can live over there beats me and i was poor then too and got down lol

A company kills a pc. of the city- yes, that's wrong...but is that an excuse to make it trashier? Is that the answer? Maybe you guys could do something positive with your energy instead of filming a torn down area,and driving around with your loud music. Try 2 help clean it up- even if u didn't do cause the mess. If u can't find a job, at least stop continuing to be the 'thugs' no one wants in a city...because if u continue doing nothing, only nothing will happen.

job? JOB is the correct answer. JOBS and the people that relied on one. Getting a career and striving for higher goals would have been better. The city used to be beautiful, people got really convinced their job would last forever. Nobody planned for GM packing up and laying everyone off.

Bottom line, nobody in this car has a career.

My father has worked for GM and is now retired. We moved outta flint in 1992 and went to Grand Blanc. I now live in Canton.

Thanks for posting this. I was visiting New Orleans and this doesn't look any better than the worst of it down there. This neighborhood was called Civic Park, when I was growing up there in the 60's. I went to the school on Forest Hills and Dayton and grew up the next block after Humbolt, which you drove down. I got outta there in 1978 right before GM killed the city. I share your disbelief-just like New Orleans, the federal government failed Flint.
