He's been a beast in preseason so far. I ithnk he could be really good, especially if he gets the chance with The Lawfirm and Woodhead in front of him on the depth chart. AND we still haven't seen Shane Vereen. Should be interesting
@shermanmi I agree, Ridley has looked extremely impressive aside from one fumble in the game yesterday..he is displaying quickness that many people doubted that he had (they wouldn't have doubted it if they had seen some of his highlights in this video though, lol)
@NeedsMor3 I have a feeling Morris won't be back and they will let someone else go(doubt this one) or put them on the practice squad. The question is who else gets cut, i just dont picture Morris back when they already have a veteran in Faulk. What's your take on what will happen?
@g0cub5g0 Well we are pretty much forced to keep Morris since he's a fullback, the only way we let him go is if we put somebody like rookie TE Lee Smith at FB, I dont see it happening. That leaves our crowded HBs. I read somewhere we're going to keep all 5 and put Faulk on the PUP list so he doesn't take up a roster spot, then if the season goes along and one of the four get injured we activate Faulk. Now it seems the bigger question is why the hell do we need 21 D-Lineman on our team? lol
@NeedsMor3 Lol, i'd rather have too many D-lineman than not enough. But back to Morris, I believe he will be gone seeing as Ridley can be the goal line guy. Faulk is almost guaranteed the PUP or retire.(most likely PUP) But if all RB are healthy at start i see Morris being the man out. BJGE, Woodhead, Ridley and Vereen are my 4.
@g0cub5g0 There's no question BJGE or Ridley could get the goaline carry, thats not what Morris is important for, yes he can bang it inside when called upon but he is a fullback because he can LEAD BLOCK what i'm saying is no other hb on our team can do that in the NFL consistently. which would force us to keep him or convert a slower player whether it be a TE or O-lineman for FB as a second position. All i know is Bellichick and staff have some tough cuts coming up that could former starters.
@bogod12,he is a pretty good pass blocker he could improve in that area but he is still pretty good compared to most rookies and because of him jefferson got most of his chances to scramble out of the pocket because ridey didnt let them get to him before they could sack him, plus his blocking skills are good due to he was a fullback his first 2 seasons. After a year with kevin faulk he will go from good to excellent in that department.
@wilberhellyea I didn't have the film from that game so I wasn't able to originally add it, but after some searching online I was able to find it. Just for you, I have added that highlight and you can find it in my YouTube channel (YouTube doesn't allow me to add the link in this reply comment)
I think I understand better why the Pats took Ridley. He's a physical runner that they can use, he always gives 100%, and he's very consistent. I noticed that he never breaks really long runs, but he always picks up the first down. He will definitely have a place in the Patriots offense.
BJGE will be resigned by the patriots. Ridley will be the pats version of tolbert on SD. Ever since corey dillon played this is the first time i am truly excited to see the pats run game.
@theBubbadukes I agree, that was why I wanted to put it out there...probably why it's the only video with more than a 1,000 views...I'm getting there!
The backs the Pats drafted were not an upgrade in terms of being better than BJGE or Woody, they were drafted as depth for the replacement of Faulk, Taylor and Morris. Besides, Benny is a free agent this year. I would have rather had DeMarco Murray, but we shall see.
Most likely, the "starter" for the Pats will be Vereen, because he has the most varied skillset and will not tip their hand. Woodhead will come on passing downs or to run draws. Law Firm and Ridley will compete for power running opportunities.
@thedraftthinker I just think Mikel would of been a better everydown back for the future, I love BJGE but he isn't an every down back, Mikel reminds me somewhat of SJax on STL. Ridley will be our 4th backup 5th if kfaulk stays.
@lemar012197 oh he will ,hell have the opertunity to start all 16 games this year while he was on the bench for a few weeks early last year, 12-1400 yd season im aiming him for.
@lemar012197 I now think they can afford to. Maybe even get rid of Fred, but id like to see Fred stay another year to maybe help out the 2 rookie RB's. But i think our backfield is gonna be solid, i like how were not focusing on the WR's as much now with TE's and RB's. Takes a bit of pressure off Brady which i think he needs :)
@RideTheRainbowTV true and i also agrre with bringing back fred because i think he would be good to use in the backfield . i just hope the lockout gets lifted again.
i like ridley he is a powerful back with great balance an great burst of speed and bc vision. if he stayed for his senoir year and built upon his season from lastyear we are looking at a 1st or 2nd rounder.ridley is a steel for the patriots
Here's a little more info on Ridley(from a longtime LSU season ticket holder)..
He's a great downhill runner, a converted fullback, he got lost behind some flashier backs that LSU is known for but had a terrific Junior year where he was near the top of the SEC in rushing. He is a friendly, extremely smart and well mannered individual off the field but a hard working power back on the field. A steal for the Patriots here...As long as he stays healthy, the Pats have found their power back

I think Shane Vereen can escape and make big plays better than this guy, but Ridley is a more bruising runner.
Still, Lawfirm will be the starter this year, Woodhead will probably be a second and short as well as outlet pass type of guy, kinda like Faulk.
