  • Mouse trap! Put a couple pads so the chemlite isn't fully cut in half. Put it high in the tree with

"I hook" to redirect the angle of motion/energy from trip wire.

Mouse Trap! Make elecrtical contacts for mechanism desired.

Red LED! Night Vision can be inhanced.

Put Noise Alarms high enough so a person has to climb to de-activate.

    Noise Detectors, Motion Sensers!

    For Educational purposes only

  • Were you the guy on Doomsday preppers????

  • Where did you get the chem light rig.

  • @cowboyfh77 you can find them on line or I buy them from a surplus dealer.

  • old and new school mix, thank you .

    my best,....JC

  • Waste of time, money and effort. Get a dog! Warning and security all in one delicious package, should the need arise. I would advise a nice German Shep., they go nicely with pinto beans or fried rice. Dont forget the soy sauce. A must have for any true survivalist. YES, this is sarcasm.

  • Very nice. Good idea.

  • He was on Nat Geo

  • Hey, what brand is this and where did you purchase it?

  • Thanks so much for sharing, I'm going to look into a couple of those trip flares for my location. Trap building is a good skill to have for prepping. You never know when you may need to use it. Take care and stay safe man.

  • Sunbeam LED Automatic Closet Light with an IR LED replacing the visible spectrum LED might be a cheaper alternative to the IR chem lights. (And the LED could be used more than once.)

  • use a wooden peg to hold the magnet, cut it almost through so it just breakes away...

  • I use claymore mines.

  • Couldn't you also rig these with a wire that sends a signal to an interior alarm inside home base? That alarm could be sound or like flashing.

  • Where can i get the trip wires

  • I am going :-) to try this chemlight breaker using a common mouse trap. They are che and available anywhere.

  • what is the alarm called i cant find it

  • There's a road in the back ground

  • @brendanhasswaqq1 Are you referring to the dirt road? This is trail on the property not a road. Four wheeler trail not a public road.

  • I prefer alarm mines.

  • southernprepper1 wherent you on doomsday preppers on national geographic

  • On you alarm lever, use monofilimant and bunch up a small amount and insert in the lever hole. This will allow the alarm to activate and also not break the lever off. The line just gets pulled free.

  • Hopefully it will help detect that critter that was running behind you at 0:41!

  • why dont you run wire outside to your house/shelter so the sound is there?

  • man this guy is good i wouldnt mess with him he already got an under ground shelter and stuff he got his own little combat station trip wires and everything this guy is cooooool

  • use trip line up a tree attached to a tin can with the lid not completely cut off. a few rocks in can, then wrap the trip over a branch as a catch to swing from, then place the can on another branch to be pulled off by a passer-by - making the can fall and the rocks to bang around. alerts you and the low, fast noise may not clue any other thugs in the group that the alert occured til its too late for them.

  • harbor freight has great units to start with. use fridge magnets to make the sensor break away. use a cheap shaker flashlights guts to make it rechargable on site.

  • would silent alarms, such as radio pressure plates not be a better method, as these would allow you to know there are invaders without tipping them of that they have been detected, thus giving you the element of surprise

also could those glowstick devices be tweeked to break a container of glow in the dark paint in such a way as to cover any invaders, rendering their camoflage as useless, just a couple of thoughts

  • I have a question about wildlife. How do help insure that these aren't set off by deer, etc.?

  • @glduncan68 When we really need these the local deer herd will be wiped out by local people looking for food so less chance of them setting them off when they are really needed.

  • Would a passive infrared motion sensor work outdoors?

  • its really mean but im looking in to caltrops to help secure the wood and roads around my town

  • If you put a knotch in the plastic where the bottom screw, when the trip wire pulls the magnet away, it'll just pop off without completely breaking it.

  • I have these at my home and never even considered using it in the woods. Would make a great bear alarm. Thanks for posting.

  • wow sir. i just made 3 of these and then got on her and saw your video. i made them the same way!

  • @SouthernPrepper1 As for a break away device, it would seem to me that a sip away device that would slide off the top of the lever would be very practicle, sch as maybe a simple soda straw. Just sayen, I'm all about simple;)

  • Also, camera phones and camcorders will see IR in the viewfinder/ screen... Dont believe me? turn on your camera and look at the busines end of a remote contol while you push a button...

    Cheers.

  • great ideas....thanks

  • What type of an alarm is that??? It can be bought at Wal Mart????

    Thanks

  • I personally like rat traps for chem lights, just need to trim the trigger plate down, fix the chem light to the trap and string the wire across the trail. cheaper then buying the chem light strikers.

with the audio trap, I would put the speaker lower to the ground or in the leaf litter and bring the wire up, then it's never seen and it's harder for them to find.

  • Hey SP1, where did you get the item which trips the chem light? I'm interested in buying something like that. Thanks!

  • Use an alligator clip. When a person walks by, will pull that lever and then slip off.

  • What about deer? Around here the you would be getting deer or other animals tripping those all the time.

  • Anyone know good place to order these Cyalume trip flares at decent price? 25$ each doesnt sound like a good deal to me...

  • o its working now :)

  • my video response is not working

  • maybe you could attach a paper clip to the wire and attach that to the devise so it will have enough integrity to move the devise and bend right off with too much force you wont have to keep replacing screws.

  • Hey SP1 ive gotta a solution. Tie a 2lb 6-8 inch piece of mono fishing line. This should activate and then break loose protecting the device.Just a thought.

  • What about deer? I know that you can buy these alarms at the dollar stores too. They work just fine too.

  • Oh and on the trip wires it may be a good idea to put them at knee or waist high so critters don't trigger them. i have a story about claymor's and a bunch of rabbits that you would laff your a** off. we thought we were going to get hit on all sides by a full company at O'Dawn 30 . was'nt funny at the time but you know what happens when you look back

  • or if you caught some people who had killed a person for thier food or belongings and you captured them would you hold a trial and hang them or would you just hang them.? My real Question is do we lose part of who we are in a WROL

  • P.S. We decided not to join the group their views on after WROL were a bit to radical for us. and the leader of the group does'nt like to share power he was in carrge of everything and the females were almost second class people and the females all wore dresses no pants allowed. Another though in a WROL time line would you break the current laws to survive and how far would you take that. For excample if some one say broke thier leg and you had no pain killers would you seek out or grow pot ?

  • Hello SP1 I have been watching you for a while and find the information helpfull. But one thing no one seem to talk about is communalaty of ammo my wife and i have 6 types of ammo my prepper mate has the same 6 types of ammo plus 1. we were invited to come check out a prepper group here in central OK and they did most of the thinking on prepping missed a few things like a cat. But they had 11 different types of pistol ammo and 14 different types of long gun ammo. can you do a vidio on this. thx

  • Just built 5 of them thanks for the idea I opened up the top hole so the trip wire slides off after triping to prevent breaking the magnet off

  • Laying a board flat out with 12 p nails works great too if you sharpen the nails a bit :)

  • You said you man an LP/OP, right? So why would you just use trip flares?

  • @SkyePyro Because they act like more eyes, cover more ground for you. And also if you fall asleep they might wake you in time.

  • Great video!

  • Could you put some light fishing line as a loop on the device lever that would break under a light load ? of your first device that is to :)

  • How often do animals falsely trigger them though? I'll definitely use these, but they will not go out until needed (as you plan too of course).

  • SP1 check out this radio setup YP uses watch?v=U5bLTpwtfzI

  • hrm this is very interesting and informative... strategically setting them up would probably pose a problem for me. i.e. putting them up in good places while still in sight/hearing range

  • i remember a long time ago my brother figured out how to use a rat trap, nail and shot gun shell pointing downward to be an alarm

made a load boom but was not enclosed, so no pressures built up

    worked great

  • My problem is we have a lot of bears and deer in my area. So that would be a bad problem because it would constantly trigger.... Ohh well.. At least you would know a bear is coming.. lol

  • Is it possible to rig a flashbang in the same manner?

  • @AtheistPatriot1 That is actually rather easy. You just attach the body of the flashbang to the tree, and tie the trip wire to the pin. Make sure you do not tie down the lever. This works for frag grandes as well, asuming the situation calls for a lethal responce.

  • I really like the chem light trip wire. Would you be able to adjust the sound coming out if the first device? Because if you have several devices in the area it will be hard to know which one went off? Perhaps Enigneer775 knows? (I am thinking about tweeking with the elektronics...) Thanks. -Nax

  • I really like the chem light trip wire set, seems to have less thing that can go wrong with it.

  • cool!

  • Great tip! As with all your videos, I try to adapt the ideas and principles to my residential home defence. I'll use this on the front and back porches. I need to remember to place it higher than small to medium sized cats and dogs. Always good stuff!

  • A trip wire that sets off a device that tars and feathers an intruder would be perfect.

  • boobytraps? ; )

  • Question - Device 1 is elevtronic, how are you making it water proof/resistant?

  • @Neo31rex31 *electronic (fat fingered the word there)

  • @Neo31rex31 Take a plastic soda bottle and cut it out to fit over the alarm and it works great. I should have shown that also.

  • @southernprepper1 so can I say use an I hook, and screw it into the tree then run my tripwire up the tree and have the chem light way high up so the enemy even with nods on might not see it and even if he sees it cannot do anything, or was that the idea in the first place?

  • Something Cool to know, your cellphone camera can pick up IR. It will seem like a normal light. So if you want to test out your IR devices or traps, just pull out your cellphone and you will be able to see it. Also a good way to see if your remote batteries are still working.

  • @FIyingPengwin I didn't know that. Actually, I just recently found these color features from cell phone camera. Btw, does it only see source of the IR light or is it possible to use IR light for illumination? I don't have such yet, so I can't test...

  • @jpenna1976 It actually can!! I got a remote and turned off all the lights and check my cellphone camera. Which I think is Amazing!!

  • @FIyingPengwin I just got an IR led module for my flashlight. I am not sure if it works properly yet. Illumination sort of works for my Nokia and my wifes Samsung, but range is very poor, like 2 feet in dark room. It can see directly pointed light very well, but illumination not too well. Have to see if I will buy some real night vision equipment some day.

  • Sweet video. wait for my pop up bear trap from a trip wire. ha j/k. But no really that would be sweet.

  • Great ideas and info thx sp1... :o) God Bless and keep You safe SidewinderFF

  • I"ve found the best trip-cord alarms are generally use "interupted circuits" instead of mechanical switches, etc. The wire yanks out a nonconductive pin and the circuit closes and sounds the alarm. As far as animals, I mount the wire at the level where the regions predators will trip it. Humans, about 4 feet (so animals can't trip it). I love the IR LED idea! I'm going to work on that. If they don't know they have alerted you, you still have the element of surprise on YOUR side. Great video.

  • You need to rig that glow stick breaker with a 12 ga shell!!! LOL!!

  • M18A1 Claymore

  • Excellent!

  • The IR device is perfect. Knowing where the enemy is without their awareness of you is vital for proper defense.

  • Beats the heck out of tin can alarms.

  • @KainanRa Tin can pebble alarms are a BS vestage of bad vietnam movies.

I can't believe the number of posts I see online about that crap.

I guess they must be using them in places with out wind.

  • @BigBosley Sorry that was meant to be funny. I guess the sarcasm did not come through. : )

  • Comment removed

  • @KainanRa No, it completely did. That wasn't directed at you.

We're all over the same page buddy.

  • Velcro

  • ok folks the devices David showed you are not meant to be booby traps...just perimeter security device's and early warning systems.....great vid Dave ..thanks for sharing-MoJo

  • Another useful tool are surplus US Military Seismic Intrusion Detectors like the GSQ-151/TRC-3A. They pop up now and then and can be useful as well.

    Just something to think about.

  • I prefer to have an alarm or light inside my retreat and just string wire out to the perimeter, so my team and I are only one that know it’s been tripped. LED lights on a map of your retreat are helpful for loc the breach and lessen concerns about the battery powered alarms being weather proof. They can still be useful if you later employ cameras and they can be used in conjunction with other remote activated lethal or non-lethal anti-pers devices (as the law allows).

    Great vid, thanks again.

  • How about instead of the chems I use dynamite ?

  • Just make bungee sticks like they did in Nam and impale those zombies, screw the alarm.

  • Have you seen the trip wire-activated 12 gauge traps?

  • @gunfan50bmg Yes I have some of them...There very nice.

  • @southernprepper1

I wouldn't mind having three or four, myself. Are they registered as firearms?

  • @southernprepper1 You need a silent alarm system, because what will happen is that they will immediatley smash that thing and unless you hear it right away it will be no good, that way you still retain the element of surprise...

  • @Fadsmashers The sound has psychological effect on someone who is already nervous and trying to be stealthy and get into your perimeter especially at night when sound travels. It would definitely screw you up if you were the bad guy. All tactics go out the window when the trap is sprung, then they panic. When I was in the Army the OPFOR at JRTC hated me because of the variety of issued and homemade non lethal traps I’d put out during training. Perimeter defense was my baby!

  • look at the womans alarm thingy that goes on the keys that thing is loud and it works well if you use it the same way.. you can also get laser dectors that set an alarm off if you go over a fence ect..

  • great vid man also have you seen the tripwire set ups that use a 12 blank to alert you of intruders if not you may want to look into getting one because i think if you seen one up close eaither yourself or enganieer could make your own maybe even adapt it to use other ammo like maybe a 12 ga ubber buckshot or oc/pepper balls or worst in a tru shtf/wrol role here is a link to 1 type of it there is other versions out there defensedevices(dot)com/shotgun-alarm-signal1(dot)html

  • I have some Ir chems...good to know

  • Would you just randomly place these around, or create a "fence" of trip wire w/ devices like that?

  • Brother I have made the same exact alarm, I used a magnet to keep the secondary piece in place. It does break away without damaging the alarm.

  • You are the WROL champion.

  • Thanks for sharing..

  • where did you get the chemlight breaker thing?

  • really cool idea where did you find these online?

  • Good stuff man, just like in the Army brother:)

  • I havent seen a good trip flair since I got out of the Army, Where is a good place to obtain some?

  • they sell also some "purse alarm" at the dollar store, the kind with a pin attached to a lanyard. I like them better, just add an eyeloop on the other side of the pin and it can be mounted inline using paracord or something. they also avec a small led inside with push button, can be used to set it up in the dark and then check if it's activated with making it ring.

  • I sent you a response video.

  • Great vid can you make one talking about long range rifle sniper etc thanks

  • The first one would also help if you live in the suburbs, and teenagers like to roll your yard on halloween.

  • Once again excellent vid, and good info!

  • I meant cotter key.

  • Loved the video. For the audible alarm have a small spring on the arm that pulls away to set off the alarm. Keep the arm in place with a small cooter key that is pulled out when the trip wire attached is tripped by the intruder. That way the arm is not broken by the trip wire.

  • @Meandog299 Think I will leave my cooter key in my pants !! ha ha ha !!!

  • love that natural mountain laural. great cover between larger trees.

  • Have you used the sound maker in the rain I like the idea a good cheap trip alarm if it will work when wet

  • Another great tip brother , thanks

  • I currently use driveway alerts on my parameter but wanted to add trip wire. Do you have a supplier that you could recommend to purchase the chemlight trips?

  • Have you ever tried fishing line? I think there are some types of fishing line that are harder to see.

  • Mount the unit horizontal so arm will swing out with less tension on it.

  • Then again in a WROL scenerio I don't know how concerned you'd be in the temporary part... You could always just use a frag grenade or improvised claymore to be on the safe side.

  • Great video, I've been looking around for different ideas myself. I was thinking of something that would make noise/light like a flashbang but stay lit longer. That way it would alert the camp exactly where the threat was even without anyone on sentry as well as temporarily incapacitate. As always though, something is better than nothing.

  • Connect that sucker to about 50lbs of explosive located strategically underneath the wire.

  • This would work great for mother in laws...... I have to get one of these. hahahahah

  • This would seperate the pros from the joes or bubbas as it were. Anybody with a little military training would stay off the trails. But of course a 11B knows this. Great vid again.

  • another great video sp.

  • ir chem light's,i would never have thought of it.What's you take on trip flares?

  • @froggergoat I like trip flares, But they have a risk if you are refering to ones that ignite and launch into the sky. They have the potential to hurt people or start a fire. But they are just another combat multiplier to my retreat defense.

  • I have actually been planning on using driveway alarms for the same purpose

  • how high do you mount your trip wires?

  • @boulevardtalonman I really dont know the military answer but I place them 7-9 inches high or there about.

  • @boulevardtalonman

7-9 inches, thanks it looks like a winner to me, especally for the price

  • How do you keep animals from constantly tripping your sensors?

    -TEW

  • @theeastwatch This is a problem, I would place them inside my fencing so animals usually dont get thru my fencing so alittle better. But yes you have to take this into account and work around it. In a wrol situation if you have a dead space between two fences this would be ideal.

  • @southernprepper1 You should do a vid on SHTF fencing... as in, how to erect fencing when you can't simply go to the hardware store and pick up a few hundred feet of chain link.

    -TEW

  • @theeastwatch Urinate around the set up after you've got it complete.

  • @gearboy12550 That might help, I've still lost chickens tryin that trick... also, if you got a lot of sensors coverin a lot of area thats A LOT of coffee!!! :)

    -TEW

  • @theeastwatch Pee on them.

  • @TriggrHappy91 Yes you can do this no problem its designed to place higher up on a tree so you can see it.

  • wow i like the IR chemlight idea

  • @DCC350 ya, thats cool, had never head of IR chemlights, or how about just a micro switch acitvating a led IR assembly
