Sort of defeats the purpose - look on the internet, most people believe in some kind of conspiracy - not because they have tremendous access to knoweldge or understanding. But because they don't understand much at all, and select things to create their own logic, and ignore everything that contradicts it. Pattern seeking behaviour.

A conspiracy theory is any theory that encompasses conspiracy. Example of such is the official conspiracy theory about 9/11; X number of men gathered and conspired to hijack planes to use as missiles against civilian and military targets. That theory includes a massive secret plot of men around the world working mainly from a singular group.

That is a conspiracy theory.

It's interesting to note that all conspiracy begins and ends with the republican party and the reign of Bush Jr. The Democrats are of course completely innocent, uninvolved and struggling to fight all these plots.
