CBS Dan Rather Promos 1982

These are great promos. Dan, sadly, was his own worst enemy.

This was a year after Rather replaced Cronkite in 1981.

I grew up watching Dan Rather, and there are the two things I love about Rather.

1) All about the hard news (science, legal and law, business and economy, and education), even is there was nothing big going on that day.

2) Objectivity - the goal you're trying to reach in the story you're reporting

Even if he was insane, he had a good reason to be.

Some of his quick turns to the camera remind me of Jack Lord in the "Hawaii Five-O" opening.

Back when Dan Rather was still perceived as a good journalist. Those days are long gone, he lost his respect over the years....
