I think this is a situation where rookie cops/young men are in a position to try and do their job. I do not agree with the way police handled this at all. It was a young cop who did not know how to handle a peaceful rebuttal to his protest to an others protest. The cops made a mistake here, and it was a mistake made due to an inability to listen. I grew up in Fort Erie and had to use DMH's services many times, including short-term stay, and I think it's unthinkable to close the hospital.

The arresting of people burning things and trying to damage Regional property is pretty much par for the course, they get some time in a cop car and get released the next day.

Being ignored is the fact that these people, for 2 years, have tried every possible alternative to fight this closure; politically, socially, ALL peacefully. If the issue here is damage of property, why is THEFT of property not being examined? Equipment, bought and paid for by the tax payers of Ft. Erie, was removed without recompense to, or approval from, the community, under the watchful eye of the NRP..

- On the day of a peaceful event, They loot the hospital of the equipment PAID FOR by local charities

- These officers, believe it or not, were actually hired by the NHS!

- People are going to DIE on the way to this so called "perfect hospital" with the time it takes.

As a citizen of Niagara Falls, I dont like what is going on in the Niagara Region with health care. Fort Erie has over 30,000 people, and they are being downgraded to an urgent health care centre.

We are a city of 82,000 and we arent even going to have a maternity ward. We dont have enough money for health care, but we can build a new hospital in the northwest end of St. Catharines, and theyre going to have a lot of these services and we have to go there for it.
