  • Wistful song.

  • It happened ... "Suddenly Last Sunday"

I play this song every Sunday

  • Sometimes the memories of better, simpler times makes U cry..., THIS IS a prime example...<D

  • I Agree rpence67 I Was Born In 66, Music Today Is NOT Music!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent Song

  • I was born in 67 and i find when i find all these songs the comments are so dead on. RIP to our music. It simply doesnt feel the same anymore.

  • @rpence67 Thanx my friend. Always good to know were among hundreds of like minded music fans.

  • Love the beat and style, this song makes me feel nostalgic! Yes it is 2012 and I love this song!

  • I Dont care what decade it is this song will always be popular... Nice job Martha Davis :)

  • This song is just great. Best song Motels did. Still great to turn up on the radio. Its funny you only hear this song on the specialty 80s channels on Sirius Radio, you never hear this on mainstream radio anymore. If you have good bass it sounds even better

  • @gangesexcavating I live in Chicago and NONE of the stations play this...ok, maybe ONE...WXRT...infrequently. Great tune !!

  • Forever, I loved this song...it happened one time

  • For 3 people, their summer never began.

  • "One Summer never ends, one summer never begins". My aunt died in late Summer of 2010. So true.

  • @MegaBeerwolf 2011

  • I didn't really find out about this song untill a few years ago. But this is an example of a time when music was actually good. When music has that certain heart, feel, and soul to it, it's a joy to listen to. I was a child during the 80's but I heard the motels other hit "Only the Lonely" and like it this isa true masterpiece of music. That's why this Anime loving Gen Xer gives this song a favorite and a BIG thunbs up!

  • This song has always been a favorite of mine!

  • I also love this song and totaly was kicking it in the late 70's and 80's but realy it is just a song albiet a great one

  • This song brings back memories of my wonderful summer days in 1988. Hanging with the crowd, kicking it in the park, and hanging with that special someone. Suddenly, last summer....... sigh...

  • Reminds me of a girl I went out with back then. Strange because no other song reminds me of her so much. And this is coming from a super metalhead!!

  • year of 85..clasic song stays in you...

  • @gangsteroflove05 Peaked at #9 in Nov. 1983. =P

  • You listen to the crappy music playing today and within 2 days you forget all about it. When you hear a song like this, it will stay with you forever! Here lies the difference in the 80's compared to the now sound......."Jagar"

  • Ok Now! This song is most certainly totally awesome in magical proportions! This song takes me back to days of skating rinks, hanging at the park, the river or the local store with my friends with this song blasting on the boom box and the warm summer sun of youth. Oh how it felt to be alive and carefree then.I had the craziest and funnest times of my life then. The best memories! :-D I love the 80's with all my heart and soul. I miss it too! It all ended too soon, way too soon! :-(

  • I've been watching the video to this so beautiful and reminiscent of when i would have to watch MTV for days just to catch it when it 1st came out ... now i can watch and listen to it anytime i want

..... Thanx so much for posting

  • I love this song so much it reminds me of my boyfriend I broke up with iam too sad

  • @kybry00 Good riddance to him he was a loser anyway !!!

  • Classic...Memory Lane..revisited:'')

  • suddenly last summer!! a secret to be kept forever! :)

  • @bisheeee You and the neighbors cat we all know that its not a secret

  • what the fuck

  • I didn't like this so much when I was a kid right, but it grew on me about a year after it came out. Good times!

  • Awesome song. Ah, the memories of the 80's. Oh, and Martha Davis was a hottie, too!

  • Martha Davis and The Motels.

  • Actually, i remember 99.5RT whenever i hear this song.

  • @blue83galant Same here. I used to request this during their weekend shows.

  • Galing mo mandaluyong boy! Ini- isa isa ko lahat ng songs mo, you are brining me back to the 80s. Ang dami ko nang hindi nadidinig, dito ko lang ulit sa channel mo narinig, mga 12" pa yung iba. Thank you so much for all your effort in downloading your selections and the sound quality is superb, headphone material talaga. Keep it up. More, more, more.......=)

  • her voice is PURE GOLD...

  • her voice is amazing

  • This group is entirely enigmatic. Its a shame they didn't produce more stuff.

  • Nice copy, thanks.

  • Great song -- very sad in a way, but good.

  • Great tune, mandaluy!

  • Man, summer is coming to an end.

I thought of this song today as August is nearing and soon fall will be upon us then winter :( then suddenly, last summer.... It seems like yesterday the weather was becoming warm and I could take out those shorts again. Tsk.

  • Thumbs up if this song makes you fart

  • this is honestly one of the worst songs ever written. it plays at work all the time. and i laugh my ass off every time it comes on. it's like they were trying to write trash.

  • @pcon93 It's still better than the crap you most likely listen to.

  • @pcon93 You're comment is out of line and over the top. I don't think anybody would agree with you.

  • @pcon93, this song plays on your job for a reason my friend. Thats what classic music does. It has longevity and outplays alot of the so-called hits today. You would be hard pressed to find much today that would be classics tomorrow. Lets see how many of the hits you enjoy will be around 20 or 30 years from now.....good luck

  • Their best of many greats, I reckon. The movie of the same name is one riveting drama.

  • cool, creepy, melancholey, mellow all in one tune.

  • The Motels...this song makes me cry every time. How I miss the 80's:)

  • love this song. rewminds me of my sweetie in michigan!!!

  • Beautiful song, thank you for posting this!!

  • You kids may be a generation of really shit music but at least you have youtube so you can listen to what we were listening to or what our parents were listening to even. It's awesome to have it all at your fingertips. Make the radio more irrelevant than it already is.

  • @magnumshifter Oh please, every generation thinks their music was the greatest and the next one sucked.

  • @IamKesyerSoze, your comment is correct. Each generation will swear their music is the best ever but its not totally untrue that what we hear today leaves alot to be desired. The bar has really been set quite low and what is passed off as talent today is mostly mediocre at best. Have you really listened to whats played today?

  • The synthesizers add so much to the mood of this song...what a classic.

  • nice rack

  • this song is one of the kind when you don't hear it in a long time then when it comes on the radio it is like hearing it new all over again.

    What a great song!

  • Absolutely, positively love it! Haven't heard this little classic in sooo long.....well worth the wait though and man, what memories. Thanks for the post. Much appreciated.

  • Richard.....Richard....Richard....:=) miss you!

  • @txncgirl1 Im right here baby im back !!!

  • Such a sultry voice. Love it.

  • I was 11 years old when this came out. I teach music and the only thing my teenage students want is Gaga, Perry, and R&B. There is no demand for anything like this nowadays, which is a shame.

  • @lunaboomboom YOU CAN CHANGE THAT BY EXPOSING THEM TO TRUE MUSIC, ARTISTRY AND TALENT BY TURNING THEM ON TO ARTISTS LIKE THE MOTELS...ITS UP TO YOU TO BRING IN THE MUSIC. AT THE AGE OF 13 I WAS ALREADY LISTENING TO JONI MITCHELL

  • Supermarket Music!!!!

  • old school music are the best

  • The Motels remain one of my all time favorite bands of the 1980's. Martha Davis has one of the most haunting and beautiful voices I've ever heard. There will never be a decade I hold in such high respect again. I would give so much to go back.

  • If ever there was a song that could coax one's subconscious self out of whatever psychological mire that buried it there, it's this song. It has a sorcery to it, especially if you remember how blue the sky was, and the world didn't seem like it was in your backyard. Life didn't move so freakishly fast as it does now. People had a better regard for one another. And musicians were appreciated for their craft, not recollected for their videos.

  • Well put...I'll continue to ponder this comment for some time. Thanks for sharing the thoughts catalystboy1.

  • @catalystboy1 I honestly wanted to criticise your comment (I tend to do that a lot), but I couldn't find anything worth picking apart. I could not have said it better.

  • @TheDodgerific Well, I hate to be responsible for anyone grinding their enamel down, fighting their urges to lob some editorial ire. Moreover I wouldn't want to give the impression that I'm perfect. So here you go: SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL! (Hope you find peace with that after you're done). Thanks for the comment!

  • Had no idea they were such a good looking band.

  • juniebird80s, you hit it right on the head!! I hear this and i wish i was back in this time again, things were so much better then...

  • Defintely one of my favorite 80's songs,if not one of my favs of all time!

  • i love music like this, anyone know anymore songs that sound like this? i was born in 79 so i didn't have teen years in this, i only remember some from my youth

  • @donewithitall1 you might want to check out Annie Lennox, The Eurythmics. Not quite the same, but similar....kind of.

  • sexy song!!!!luv it:=):=)

  • An Awesome song!!

  • This is just one absolutely amazing song!! So very awesome!! Always loved this one!! This song takes me back to days of true happiness and innocence. I miss those days. My heart just aches for those days so much. What a time that was! Never to be forgotten! There was a magic in the air back then that you just cant feel today and that is a real shame. This song is pure magic in itself!! Missing those days but hold the memories in my heart forever!! ☺♥

  • @juniebird80s That's the trouble with being young and innocent-it doesn't last! You grow up and head out into real life and cares. I was 17 when this came out and what do you know, I'm 45 now. What song nowadays is a 17 year old going to treasure 28 years from now as his/her time of magic and innocence? Bad Romance? Fireworks? LOL.

  • @Nivicoman :"Someone Like You" by Adele. I can definitely see myself in my car with my kid and "Someone Like You" coming on and me singing, and my kid not knowing the song and me telling my kid about it.

  • @Nivicoman TOTALLY AGREE with you! The Motels, The Scandals,The Go Go's, Pat Benatar (just to mention girl leading bands) Early 80s was a special time , just before the eighties became "The 80's" I do like what came next in that decade but somehow the early 80s were when young artists from the 70's reached maturity and added new technology to their music! This one 1983! what a GREAT TIME TO BE 17 ! (gotta rush to listen to Stray Cat's Sexy and 17 ,now LOL)

  • @popboy0 Don't forget Blondie and Carly Simon! two of my favorites.

  • @juniebird80s With you 100%!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • hot track

  • Love this song. Now i know how much crap todays music is

  • I suddenly know what you did last Summer.

  • Class of `87!!! 80`s Forever,Forever 80`s!!!

  • This song has an eerie quality to it, but I love it

  • no doubt about it,this is magic.i cant say it enough times;the 80's were the best ever in music.there will never be a decade like it again

  • my favorite part of this song..2:10 to 2:32

  • i have no idea why ive always liked this song ... kind of haunting on eof my fav 80s songs

  • 80`s days come back.........

  • Come to think of it this would be a good song for Queensryche to cover. My god! That would be excellent!

  • It keeps me standing still.

  • 80`s music like this and the Outfield, Flock of Seagulls etc will never be out done, many many memories, I would do anything to go back, mullets, wide shoulered suits, and all !!

  • @horsetype I agree, it was a fantastic time. Before I realized that fact those times were gone. I love music from the late 70's to the early 80's. After 1984 music started to go down hill slowly.

  • fall of 1983

  • this song makes me speechless!

  • She loox very hot in this pic

  • Audio is excellent.

    Great song.

  • These guys were great! Sorry there is no more music out there like this any longer. The crap put out today sucks!!!!

  • @jcs4bama thats why I only listen to old music.

  • Absolutely. I was raised with the mid-to-late 80's and then 90's and 00's music. Lets just say, IMO, after Cobain died and the Seattle scene died off...music just hit a brick wall and the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt!!! Im glad I listen to metal and Thank God Apple invented the iPOD. Im not forced to listen to the POS music that's out today. I'd do anything to be young again...

  • @Brian77TX I say the same thing all the time...I would do anything to be young again! The 80's and 90's where the SHIT! There will never be an era like it again! I listened to all of these bands from Berlin, The Motels, Kinks, Missing Persons, Tom Petty. Rainbow, Ratt, Iron Maiden, Van Halen and still standing strong....Metallica! I just want to turn the hands of time back...even if it is just for one day........ :(

  • @beastyfourpointsix Ya, but not just for one day though...I'd wanna relive the 80s'....but as a teen. Those who are in their late 30's and early 40's were spoiled rotten when it comes to the culture they were brought up in *shrugs, oh well...

  • One of the classiest bands of the 80s by far. Their hits are not dated and still sound great today. Take The L, and Only The Lonely are great too.

  • YOU TUBE TIME MACHINE

  • what a magical sound.....Just 80's music has this magical touch.

  • I totally agree

  • @TaylorScott123 I really feel so cool with this type of music. Bands like Human League or Wham, Berlin, Boston, Alan Parson & Project...all of them are the best ;)

  • REKTIKANONYC - You got it! - What a great time for us! The memories will always be there.

  • Remembering the moment of the 80's

  • I LOVE YOU MARTHA

  • thank you for posting

  • AUDIO WAS JUST RIGHT TOO...

  • THANX...FOR THE POST

  • now, isn't this a 'bout w/passion?

  • A magnificent 80's great.I love it.

  • Good song and video.

  • I've always loved the sound and beat of this 80's great.

  • Me too. Only The Lonely is another 80's great by The Motels.

  • I wish it were the 80's......

  • no you don't

  • no you don't

  • I lived through them once and it was great!

  • NEW WAVE NATION

  • Yes, more great memories of the 80's and how much I miss my ex.

  • Dammit, I miss the 80's! That was such a great decade for music! Metal, rock, pop, rap, glam,...everything!

The music of the 90's and today just f#ckin' sucks!

  • >> The music of the 90's and today just f#ckin' sucks!

Amen to that. Music is dead.

I hate fucking American Idol and all the

    other rubbish out there.

  • Well said GaryNull!!! American Idol suck major balls!!!

  • Another perfectly organized, blessedly conceived diamond of popular music from Martha and her crew. I know the tune sounds sort of "lightweight,"...it's not. Think it's easy to write a ditty like this? Try it sometime. And that voice...that voice. Thanx for the post, "manda..." !

  • Great high school memory

  • one of the most underrated 80s band, along with talk talk & naked eyes

  • Fantastic music....Martha is so beautiful and she has a magic voice...

  • Thanks, I love this song. The audio is very good. mmmm....Martha.....*boing*

  • i agree
