The exact oppsite thing happended in Portugal for me. I caught a strong upwind and then the line snapped, hitting my shoulder pretty hard. went down 150 m in the "parachute" only. That thing was meant to drop, i could tell from the impact :)

U gotta understand that the rules abroad change and are not often like home so USE UR COMMON SENCE! how hard is that. u would never put an 8yr old on anything that high! and if ur fat! well do u understand the rules of gravity? I went in parasailing in Mexico when I was like 8 years old so i didn't no how dangerous it was to go there, and they take you like twice as high then what is legal in America. I landed in a beach umbrella because I was to light to go down as fast as I was supposed to.
i went parasailing in cancun it was very aweseme and fun lol and they ask if u want them to dunk u in the water while u come down and we said yes and they did >:)
When I went parasailing in mexico, we were out at sea and the boat broke down. There were no other boats near us so we were like stranded for 2 hours. Luckily the seas were calm

Just to be fair, don't go parasailing ANYWHERE if you are not willing to take your own risks. There are no laws or codes in any countries where this is recreation. Some folks are suing a company in the USA after a fatal accident. They thought there were rules & regulations but there aren't any. So either the captain was flying too small of a chute, or the wind conditions changed rapidly, but my point being it had jack to do with their equipment.
big guy two women on the boat not enough airspeed- I agree not neccessarily parasailing in Mexico, just don't go with such a small boat-there were bigger boats with decks off the back, more professional crews, better to pay a little more and go with them. I've gone parasailing in France, Mexico and Cleveland OH- Cleveland had the best equipment but not the exotic view.
