Beautiful video, and what a lush organ sound from this gorgeous RCA SHF-5. Looks like you have a fine collection of record changers. I've been taunted by several SHF-4's / SHF-5's on ebay, all have been too far away and too costly to ship... still looking! I did run across here locally a nice Philco 6V6 tube Hi Fi changer.. (in storage.. don't recall the model #) It's a floor unit, and sounds wonderful. It needs the idler wheel de-glazed, and maybe recap the power supply.
I have a 57 Motorola hi if that needs some work on the VM changer to not play too fast and a cabinet refinishing. It has a 15" Jensen woofer a 5" Jensen midrange and did have 2 4" jensen tweeters but I replace the 4" speakers with 2 4" Jensen coaxial speakers that have pizzo tweeters and that improved the sound. It has a amp with a pair of push pull 6V6 tubes also and this one has a rare AM FM tuner option where the record storage slot would have been. You can see it on wb5oxq channel
Hi wb5oxq I checked out your Motorola and it is nice. I remember Motorola stereos, the ones I had seen always had fancy gold record changers. They did have good sound.
Wonderful! It's great that you know so much about fixing these old electronics, replacing capacitors, etc.. I'm trying to learn, but kindof already an old dog. Like the tube amp "sound" but nothing that couldn't be achieved with the same equalization curve of the entire system, (even using a cd, would sound about right..). Love your videos!
I dunno which is better....Magnavox or RCA. All I can say is that there's something unique about the 2 compared to other brands. Nice estate sale score and wow you even the original docs. to it. Sounds great and looks somewhat like the smaller version of it.
Very nice bill, I'm keeping my eye open for one from this style. For RCA.

Wow, you fixed that fast! That is quite a nice unit! It's good that it has a new owner who can make it work like new again.
